Have you ever fallen asleep with a drink in your hand?

It's a bad habit of mine in the evenings, especially if I've had a glass of wine with dinner 🤣

Yes. The pub staff didn’t half get annoyed about the mess.

HelenLake Tue 24-Oct-23 15:28:13

Hahaha, I don't imagine they were please. I bet they've seen a lot worse though.

DH often does, with a cup of coffee. So far he has managed not to spill it 🤞

Often, at any time of the day or night.

My husband ruined two almost new leather sofas over the years. One pale green, then a brown one. He falls asleep with a beer or wine in his hand then tried to clean the leather and ruins it. I don’t say a word, just make him buy a new one. 😉

He was recently diagnosed with severe sleep apnoea so that might explain it.

That's a talent!

I was tested for that and I don't have it. So I don't really have an excuse 🤣 I'm glad you make him pay for his mistakes 😅 I bought myself a chair cover, saves any major clear up.

Often 😂

Lol not just me then. What drink is your culprit and have you mastered the art of holding it steady yet 🤣

The trick is to put the glass down between sips/slurp 😂😂

Really should of learnt to do that by now, guess I'm just lazy 🤣🤣

Yep. Hot coffee. Do damage to the dark brown leather sofa. Can't say the same for my white trousers. !!

Coolgran65 Tue 24-Oct-23 18:36:59

.... Didn't do any damage .....

my husband is always doing this, he is a liability

crazyH Tue 24-Oct-23 18:41:18

Helenlake - coffee. They say coffee keeps you awake…..not me 😂Also, I take a cup of hot coffee to bed , but I make sure I keep it back on the bedside table after every sip

Yes, I've fallen asleep with a mug of tea in my hand, thankfully I take lots of milk so it wasn't too hot.
Last week I fell asleep in the salon, having my nails done... my sisters have 'bullied' me into phoning for a GP appointment because I fall asleep often in the afternoons.

I frequently do this while watching evening tv and drinking a cuppa . It’s rather disconcerting to wake up to that warm wet feeling 😳

Just yesterday evening I nodded off with a glass of water in my hand and was relieved to wake with the full glass still in my hand. I reached my hand to the side to place the glass on the table. I completely missed the table and dropped the glass on the floor and the water and broken glass went everywhere. I was wishing I’d just spilled it into my lap like I normally do!

I'm a good sleeper at any hour of the day or night but excelled myself dropping off with a cup of tea. I woke up feeling rather damp, but was horrified to see that I'd drowned my laptop. An expensive nap since the laptop then needed a replacement keyboard. blush

Nowadays I'm just relieved the "warm wet feeling" soaking through my trousers is just a cup of tea and not something else 🤣🤣🤣 I've done the "missing the table" thing as well. Broke my favourite mug.

I went for a check up and a few tests and all was fine. Perhaps it's worth going just in case 🙂

That's why I don't wear white. I'm clumsy enough while awake 🤣

Blimey, definitely an expensive nap. I once fell asleep holding my tablet, jolted awake and threw it across the room. Needed a new screen after that.

My husband (with sleep apnoea) had a brief period a few years ago when he and a friend went to the gym.

They stopped going when the friend turned round and my husband was fast asleep on the rowing machine. 🤣

Thank you, HelenLake.
