Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and dry. Gingster you are a kind friend indeed. Brook you must be well on your way by now. Greyduster that sounds intriguing but I know what you mean about Facebook. I rarely look at mine now. GrandMattie I hope the meetings go well. Harrigran sounds like a spider! Ash I have many favourite poems and include The Donkey in that list.
Yesterday dgs2 was harder work because he was grumpy. I think he was tired and he didn't really settle down until after his afternoon nap. It just meant I had to work harder at distracting him in the morning. So a long walk, then we jumped in the car to go to the pharmacy for my prescriptions, then a trip to Aldi for something for lunch. I visited mum at night. She was quieter than usual but still engaged in conversation some of the time. I only stayed twenty minutes because my sciatica was bothering me, but she wasn't really interested in talking anyway.
Today I had a long lie. I'll nip to the library later. The books I borrowed a fortnight ago just haven't captured my attention. I shall happily potter about the rest of the day. I might play with my new pastels. Have a good day all

Good Morning Wednesday 25th October 2023
(54 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry at the moment here in brackley .
Yesterdays appointment for Glaucoma went OK , got there early and seen early .
I ended up with a dose of Diarrhea , but proves something as I need to the Leopardine capsules daily during the day , by relaxing thinking it was all over only brought it on , will seek advice from the nursing team I deal with .
Otherwise a day in so I watch the Tour De France race presentation for 2024 on TV later this morning.
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning from bright and chilly Ceredigion, we’ve been having lovely weather here on the coast and today looks like more!
Yesterday I had horrendous indigestion all day, I honestly wondered if it was a heart problem by late afternoon. Umpteen Rennies, Gaviscon and then Nexium eased it a bit.Eventually it settled somewhat but I didn’t sleep well. I do have a hiatus hernia so I suspect it’s that, but I haven’t had pain radiating across my shoulders before.
Anyway, a quiet day today I think, a nice beach walk in the sunshine will sort me out!
Good morning from a wet W Kent. After a lovely morning out visiting friend and a quick visit to DD I went home and have come down with a stomach upset, where from I have no idea. I suppose it could be Covid or the new statins I have just started, who knows. Cancelled everything for today.
Best wishes to all
Good morning all . Damp and dreary here.
I don’t think Dh will go fishing .
Not sure what I will be doing . Might see Dd and DGD.
Half term weather is putting a stop to days out, so perhaps a craft day.
I had a tearful phone call last evening from my friend who had just found out her bil has terminal cancer. I offered to go round and sit with her but she said ‘no’. She’s my ex next door neighbour and lives in a large old Victorian house on a big plot.
She’s on her own and I hated the thought of her sitting there all alone and upset.
I’ll ring her this morning.
Safe journey Brook
Fingers crossed for a good meeting GM
Hope you all have a *good’ day 🌻
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a dry and brightening South Yorkshire. The rain kept me in yesterday so I did some housework, wrote emails and an essay for writers club this afternoon at the library. I was checking something on the internet and came across a forum for people who used to live where I grew up. The posts petered out in 2018 and then the whole thing went onto Facebook, but there were names on there of people I went to school with, and someone enquiring about our family. My name was mentioned and so was my cousin’s by someone who has us in their family tree. It was fascinating. I shall have to poke about a bit more but may need to revive my Facebook page which I don’t particularly want to do.
Have the best day you can folks.
Good morning from chilly but dry Sefton. Delightful mini dog is still with us.
I hope you feel better soon Mick, that Ashcombe and Alygran have easy, pain-free dental appointments and that you achieve a satisfactory resolution grandMattie.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning all.
Yesterday’s hospital appointments went well. No dressings now and they were happy with my progress. We enjoyed watching ‘The Great Escaper’ Michael Caine in his cap looked so like my Dad in his last years. I found it very emotional.
Today DH has gone to golf . Once I’m dressed and sorted I have a date with a soldier. Just a fabric one.
DH will be back to take me to the WI knitting group , just a bit too far for me to walk at at the moment, We are knitting hats for the homeless shelter in Milton Keynes.
Wishing you all a good day especially those with illness or worries.
Morning Mick, morning All from a damp, gloomy corner of Somerset
The size of the puddles indicates heavy overnight rain which fortunately we both slept through. Took an un planned trip into town on the bus yesterday. First time for four months. While we were there booked a coach holiday for next year. A bit of a trial run for that type of break. It will have a dual purpose as it heads East and will support a day with our goddaughter who will take us to visit her mum. Should work 🤞.
No plans for today other than finish the cleaning. We weren’t sure if we’d be needed to retrieve a granddaughter from her Dads, we are - tomorrow.
Busy day ahead ash. Stay strong grandmattie. Good idea to talk to your team mick. Hoping for the best possible outcome for your sister whitewave. That’s progress baubles, pleased for you both. Enjoy Cambridge brook, with luck well be there next May.
Have the best day you can everyone.
Good morning from a dark, but dry Black Country.
Feel achey now after my Covid jab yesterday morning. I was fine up until the evening.
Today I am visiting an ex-colleague (manager), as she lives near Mums. After a couple of hours of chat, I will pop over to Mums and take her out for lunch.
I agree with Susan gM regarding if apartments are sold on the basis of a Warden on site, it surely must be a legal requirement?
Wishing you all the best day possible
Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s stilll dark so I have no idea what the weather is.
Up early for a trip to the dentist. I have brought my check up forward rather than back when they called to change it. My tooth hasn’t fully settled from 2 weeks ago when I had antibiotics. I think it may need to come out.
Hope you all have a good day.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Still dark here.
I have several people calling this morning for things I have posted on the local free page including willow pruned from my bower.. If they don't come by 10am I will go to yarn group although my ordered wool hasn't arrived so I'll need to think of something to do.
I hope you get good advice from the nurse team Mick.
A very long day for you Ash
Good luck with the management meeting Mattie.
Hope your journey goes well Brook
I have my "English" family coming here later this week. DGD will be looking at Edinburgh as a place to study.
Have a happy day everyone here and our absentees.
Good morning from Shropshire.A dry day forecast.
I was feeling better by yesterday afternoon so went to my Welsh class. It was a six week taster course and I have signed up for the follow on course starting after half term.
Today we are hoping for a quiet day at home.We have a few house jobs we need to organise but need a day to ourselves today,
You will hopefully be half way to Cambridge now Brook.Safe travels.
Whitewave I hope your sister gets her scan today and her operation goes ahead tomorrow. My thoughts are with you all🙏🏻
Hope the dentist visit goes well Ash and your meetings have the desired outcomes grandMattie.Surely if apartments are sold on the basis of a warden being on site it is a legal requirement that there is a warden on site?
Sounds like a good catch up with your friend baubles.I am glad that you felt able to leave your DH for a few hours and hope that means he is feeling better. I can imagine the excitement about the new puppy!
Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩
Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
I finally left the house yesterday for the first time in two weeks! Lunch out and then a trip to an enormous Waitrose in Oxford. I survived and didn’t feel too fatigued.
Tonight I am supposed to be going to see Grayson Perry with my neighbour and her OH. He will be driving us to Oxford.
Otherwise, apart from a bit of WI admin, it will be a quiet day.
Commiserations to those of you with difficulties and worries. GM I hope your meeting goes well. A decisive chair makes such a difference to the running meetings.
Morning from a very wet S Hampshire.
Hope your sister has her scan WW🤞.
Good luck today gMattie
Dentist yuk Ash hope you’re in and out quickly.
Safe journey brook it’s been a while, but you know the ropes!
We have a friend asleep upstairs, long story, but he mislaid his apartment keys, I had to flick a duster round and turn the rad up yesterday.
I’ll have a walk later and make some phone calls, chicken and leek casserole for dinner.
🦩🦩
Good morning from a dark, damp and cold Colchester. It's forecast to brighten later as it did yesterday.
A family day at DD2s as it's half term instead of the regular Wednesday coffee meetup.
DGS has an early dentist appointment so I need to get ready.
Love to all 🦩 x
Good morning, it s still very dark out and I’m still in bed so no idea what the weather is doing yet, rain is forecast in our area but it might just miss us, according to our weather app.
Dog sitting day today, if it’s dry and not too cold I might venture out with MrOops on his dog walk. Then baking cakes and pies.
Have a good day everyone, safe travels to those on the move, hope those who are unwell feel better soon.
Good morning from s somerset, it has been raining all night ad will rain much of today, that yellow warning is with us
When I potter, one thing always leads to another and I did all the interior plugholes and drains yesterday. Washing soda, boiling water and a brush, that sort of thing. Shower drain had loose mastic around it so I pulled that off, nipped out and bought some new mastic, job done as I have the tools. I get paranoid about water leaks, especially in hidden areas
I `found` a practical book about sewing, skimmed through and will take it to the cs. I need to be focussed on doing something engrossing this morning as it will be gloomy out. This afternoon will be my time as always, some reading and I think I will finish sewing a cosy oversized topand if it dries up then I will get myself out on a walk
Have a good day
Good luck at the dentist Ash
Safe travels brook
Hope all goes well between residents and management grandMattie.
Good morning from dark and still South Lanarkshire.
Out last night for a meal with a friend, it was good to catch up and even better that I felt able to leave DH for a few hours.
Today we are doing the school pick up for DD for the first time in an age. Her DH who normally does it will be away collecting their new puppy so I’m sure there will be huge excitement in their house. We will leave our daft dug at home so as not to completely overwhelm the new little one.
Good luck at the dentist Ashcombe.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good luck at the dentis, Ash. Happy landings brook.
Thanks, brook2704. You are an early bird! Safe travels and I’m sure you’ll enjoy your visit. As a child, my family and I often visited Gatwick to watch the planes - yes, people did in those days! We lived nearby, in Dorking.
A very early good morning from Inverness where it’s dark and wet but a bit milder today
Hoping you get a positive outcome today gMattie and the other residents offer some support
I’m sat in the lounge at Inverness airport waiting to board the 7am flight to Gatwick. Why on earth I booked this early flight I’ll never know but at least I’ll be in Cambridge mid morning to help look after the gorgeous DGSs There’s a direct train right through from Gatwick so it should be fairly easy journey
Hope the dentist goes well Ash or as well as these things can
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning from a still dark NE.
I was woken at 5.30 by an intense itching on the back of my leg. I had to get up and find some antihistamine cream, not easing yet and I am wondering what has bitten me because there is a definite lump.
Spent all day washing and ironing and then made a mushroom sauce to have with pasta, had a no meat day.
DS is working a half day and then coming to take me shopping.
Have a good day.
Good morning from a wet dark South Downs.
Today I’m back to normal and taking the dog out (when he awakes) I think that I shall need my wellingtons. He is getting very, very old and at times I think that he is not long for this world, then he bucks up and we all breath a sigh of relief☹️.
Yesterday was one such day, but he has slept soundly all night, so I shall see how he is when he wakes.
My sister is hoping to have her PET scan today - if they can mend it in time! If she does, it is her operation tomorrow. Big mountain to climb.
Braised beef and root vegetables with apple and almond sponge and custard
Peace and harmony to the world.
Good morning Mick and all who follow from the Black country dark but dry outside.
Glad your appointment went ok Mick sorry you had a setback in other areas do seek advice from your nursing team.
Early start DH is fishing and I've started the day with a bang have dropped his flask and broke it fortunately we have another one.
Have not decided my plans for the day yet will wait for it to get lighter in the meantime will start a new book.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.
