Bye bye bath

If I had enough room, I'd have the shower cubicle removed and one built in with tiled walls, no door, so much easier to clean without cracks, crevices and glass doors.

I've just thrown out our screen wiper, thank you for the recommendation about the OXO one, lixy.

Our water isn't very hard so I'll give it a good scrub with one of those net body scrubbers and leftover shampoo in between more thorough cleans.

What goes around comes around - I bought the Oxo one after a recommendation on a GN thread about cleaning showers a few years ago!
It really does do a good job.

I have hurt my hip getting out of the bath and must now shower instead. I hate showers and the worst bit is wiping down every surface afterwards. Our water is very hard but I wonder if everyone really does this after every shower?

No I don’t, I have to shower only now as tho I can get in and bathe…I can’t get out again !
I swill down the mat and bath and wipe it over when necessary…unless there are obvious rings around the bath!
Maybe I just can’t see them?

I wipe dry every time, first with the ‘ scraper ‘ then dry off with a towel. I do this mainly to keep the tile grout and seal as fresh for as long as possible. Because I don’t enjoy it, I sometimes have a bath instead!

I use a rubber scraper after each shower as well. No different really from cleaning the bath after each use.
On reading this back I must clarify, I use a rubber scraper to clean the shower cubicle after each shower.

Ive been a shower person all my life - could never be bothered lying in a bath when I have better things to do. I dont bother cleaning out the shower either - thats why I have a cleaner. I live in the north so hard water is not a problem.

No chemicals for me; make me cough and give me runny eyes. White wine vinegar and deionised water wiped off with a chamois. Really quick and effective

Yes i bought a daily shower spray from Lakeland, and it claims you can just spray and leave- does baths too and is £5.99- its a largeish bottle though.

I miss not having a bath in my house. There was only a shower, albeit a huge cubicle, when I moved in 6 years ago and I can't afford to redo the bathroom at present. I use a Karcher window vac on my shower. I don't need to use any sprays and have never had any problem with mould or water marks despite having very hard water. I do have to empty the Karcher twice for every shower though, so I suppose that just shows how much water clings to the glass surfaces and walls!

I too sadly had to give up my bath, which I particularly enjoyed using with essential oils rather than to get clean, but wouldnt be able to get out and it would not be safe. So do have a shower which also has a seat if I need to use it. However to me life is too short to spend ages cleaning showers. I am a widow and live alone, have a shower every day and these days do not get very hot and sweaty and dirty, so one of the few things that is good about being on your own is that I have the shower set to just how I like it and as I am the only person that uses is I clean it about every 3 days , and it stays decent and clean. However I dont go looking for marks etc. Much better things to concentrate on such as listtening to Bach on the radio or reading something interesting. I am very hot on having things clean, myself clothes etc, do not miss sweaty sox from husband or son but the little bits about living alone are that things are where you put them and if you are comfortable living with things the way they are stay with it and good luck to you

The shower I use does not have a good window, facing east to and next house a metre away. I suffer from asthma and mould is one of the triggers. I swipe down walls and also base of shower with a squeegie and then use a flannel or a towel on its way to the laundry to dry off odd bits and buff the chrome.

I have one of those detergent dispensing wand thingies with a scourer sponge which I fill with a mixture of Fairy liquid and white vinegar. If I'm not in a hurry I swipe it all over everything after I've undressed but before I wash myself. I then rinse everything down, wash in the normal way, exit the shower and ignore the streaks.

I live with medium-hard water.

We live in a very hard water area so invested in a water softener which means no scale on anything, except the kettle as you should not drink soft water. Wouldn’t be without it for so many reasons, one being needing so much less of any cleaning product, including shampoo.

Never wipe down...just a quick spray round area ....no limescale issues....no mouldy grouting...I'm NW

There is something on the market called I think daily spray and leave and provided you use it every day you will not have the cleaning hassle afterwards. It is cheap to buy, another bonus.

All I ever use and we have very hard water here.

I also live in a chalky area, but honestly I don't care if the shower has white splodges on it. I clean it occasionally with vinegar.
(And no stainless steel surfaces in the kitchen, thank you.)

We have very hard water and I just use a squeegee after I use a shower to lean down the glass, then a dry microfibre cloth to shine it up. Takes about 3 minutes. When I dry the glass off with the cloth I wipe any chrome bits down too. Keeps it all shiny and clean and makes cleaning the bathroom very quick. The tiles get a going over with some washing up liquid and one of those long handled sponge floor mops, then wiped down with a microfibre cloth on the mop, about every three or four months.

I sympathise as I am a Bath person it betting older with a new hip last year so wo der if I have to cave in and get a shower.
Hadn’t realised quite how they need so much cleaning had assumed a Quick wipe was sufficient

Had my walk in shower put in 10 yrs ago and yes I use a rubber squeegee on the glass panels every day it only takes less than a minute, the glass stays free of water marks it still looks like new. I clean the outside with window cleaner now and then.

Yes, always wipe down with a rubber scraper - ours is made by OXO and is very good. As long as you wipe down carefully you won't need to use chemicals as no water residue is left on the surface.
I do polish the outside of the glass walls with a multi-surface polish every now and then but not the inside - that would risk making the floor slippery.

Luckily we live up north now so dont have the limescale issue. I just give the walk in shower a quick rinse using the hand held shower head.

I use a limescale spray, and do one wall of tiles and the glass door every day while I am actually in the shower; I give it a spray, wipe over with a sponge then rinse off. Leaves everything looking nice and clean and shiny.
