Good morning all and it’s just getting light here in Essex.
Dh will go to footie with ds1 this afternoon and I will take little DGD to a party. It’s held at a pottery studio and they will paint a clay something or other and have a tea party. Probably a halloween theme. She will love it. 👻🎃.
Hopefully I’ll read my book this afternoon 🤞.
I hope you all have a gentle day.🌻

Good Morning Saturday 29th October 2023
(45 Posts)Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a foggy - again - South Yorkshire. Well, it is the season of mists, I suppose. I had a lovely walk with DD yesterday round the big woods. She let me choose the paths and I had forgotten there was a long steep climb at one point - also one on the way back to their house. Lots of sweet chestnuts in the woods, some of them quite large and of course they went into my pocket. I always like to bring a few home. Reminds me of when we used to forage for them as children. GS came home from his outdoor week away, dropped his dirty washing, declared that he was “shattered”, and promptly went off to play football with his friends! He was in the house for exactly twenty minutes and out again!👋🏻😂. I’ll hear all about his adventures when they come to eat with me today.
Have a the best day you can folks.
Good morning all from a foggy and chilly North Leicestershire.
I need to walk into the village for flowers while dh is at the gym. We are then meeting DS1 and his 'girlfriend' for lunch at the pub. That means we won't need lots to eat this evening - bonus.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning everyone.
It is dry here at the moment but a chill in the air. Clocks back tonight which leads to horrible long dark evenings.
I think we shall see our two youngest DGSs later.
Other than that a little bit of food shopping and some crafting.
Kind and healing thoughts to all who need them.
Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 10°C.
Nothing to report and a quiet day ahead. I do need to work on the parish website, but I have absolutely no enthusiasm at all for it.
Have a good day folks.
Good morning all. I am still tucked up under my cosy duvet so haven't looked out yet. I will take Nannagarra's word for it that it is dry outside. I certainly hope so as we are off pumpkin picking with DS2, DinL & both DGDs at a local petting farm. Lunch at a carvery. The GDs love choosing their own lunch. They are 4 & 5.
Had a much better day yesterday after a decent night's sleep & managed to catch up with myself without any ill effects.
Have a good weekend.
Good morning from Shropshire.
I hope the advice helps Mick.
We have Covid jabs booked this morning. This afternoon we are having new tyres fitted on the car ready for winter.
Sorry you had a bad night Grandmabatty. The boys were very good for you.Ours see a chance for a later bedtime when we are looking after them.
Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩
Good morning from a dark but dry Colchester. A bit of rain forecast later and a high of 15°.
DH will be home from fishing at lunch time. DS is still on night shift mode and will sleep until late. Spag bol for tea. Love to all 🦩 x
Morning all from a still dark West Oxfordshire.
Our daughter is coming today and will stay the night. We haven’t seen her since the wedding in France. Spag Bol tonight and I’ll cook her favourite roast chicken and all the trimmings tomorrow.
She is currently single after splitting up with her partner of seven years a couple of years ago. She is 42 and I do sometimes have that old fashioned feeling of wishing she was ‘settled down’..
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and wet. Mick I hope that advice helps you. GrandMattie it'll be such a relief to you when your new bathroom is in.
Yesterday I didn't go to Aldi because dd popped in with dgs2. It was lovely to see them, even although I was going to their house later to babysit. Babysitting went well. Dgs1 got upset when his mum and dad left but a biscuit helped. They were both in bed by 7.30 and asleep fairly quickly.
I, on the other hand, did not sleep well last night, despite being tired. So I'm awake and up drinking coffee with a bit of a headache. I'll change the bedding and wash it later. The tumble dryer will be on too. An Aldi visit is needed and I might make lentil soup. I fancy a pork chop for dinner. My aunt and uncle might nip in after their recent holiday. It'll be very nice to see them as they are lovely people. Then strictly tonight and possibly an early night. Have a good day all
Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset looks damp again. Getting soggy out there.
Unexpected volunteering yesterday morning to cover sickness before heading off to see the physio who produced exercises that I already do but did, finally, agree to x-rays so worth the visit. Our very unwell friend was blue lighted to hospital first thing, still waiting admission at tea time while being well cared for in A&E. It’s a relief she’s no longer at home alone. Should hear more today.
Batch cooking chilli this morning and some ironing before a date with a book this afternoon. 🤞 for a quiet day.
Hope yesterdays advice helps mick Mr C would love that sandwich. Thinking as ever of those with personal mountains to climb. Hope Saturday is kind to us all.
Thank you, Oops, but it means I can only wash myself for a whole month! Grrrr
Good morning from a damp Torbay.
I’m glad you’ve had some advice, Mick (BTW, it’s the 28th today) and I hope the new regime is effective.
It sounds like you’re having a lovely break, RosesandLilac.
It’s nearly November, fancythat, so I’m sure it’s fine to mention Christmas.
It's a blessing that yesterday finished better than it started, grandMattie!
Today I’m going by bus over to Brixham (parking is expensive) to meet a Toads friend for lunch before joining others to watch the matinee of Spamalot as a few of our friends are in it. I’m really looking forward to seeing the show - always more fun when you know some of the players.
Happy weekend, everyone! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩
Good morning , hope the change of diet helps Mick.
GM your new bathroom can’t come soon enough.
Happy holidays to those away and safe travels to those on the road.
Have a good day everyone, virtual hugs for those in need of one and best wishes to all poorly grans.
Good morning from s somerset and weather will bring more rain later today, with sun this morning
Those tweaks seem very promising Mick
I shall be marching this morning, my fitness walk. Nice to have a hill on the edge of town, a nice route with trees and old dwellings
I shopped at the fishmonger van yesterday and bought the most fresh fish at a fair price. I am going to up my fish intake. What a nice man and all fish was prepared in front of me. Lovely chats while standing in the queue too. No shopping needed today and thankfully no spending
Today is simply pottering, which means I have no idea what I am going to be doing
Have a good day
Good morning from Bristol. We had another lovely day.
I was furious yesterday. I took my usual very short shower yesterday morning, when the pump taking away the waste water de-icer to stop working! I was left with the shallow tray full of water, mercifully just not overflowing. I had to mop it up with a towel. I got a bucketful! 🤬
I then went to the “famous” farmer’s market in the next village with one of my neighbours. It was pleasant but quit ordinary. She left to go to town,I did some shopping and went to my own village on the opposite side. It exhausted me, as there is a very steep hill to climb.
I spent the day feeling very miserable again for some reason. I call them my “soggy days”.
In the mid-afternoon DD texted to ask me to dinner. It was very kind, as they were on their way back from holiday. It was really nice to see them.
Ironically, I had prepared my dinner well in advance - a gratin of vegetables - but obvs didn’t eat it…. Normally, I cook just before eating.
Because they do house exchanges with other clergy, they have a ton of bedding to wash. DD was very grateful when I offered to take it back with me, especially as I have a tumble dryer and they don’t. It’s no hardship for me. My random act of kindness?
Today, I’ve got church coffee and chat and that’s it. Sewing…
Don’t forge5 to put your clocks back tonight. I loathe this change as I get jet lag 🤨
Have a blessed weekend, free of anxiety, etc. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩
Good morning from down South.
Dark and dry here too.
Are we mentioning the c word yet?!
Sorting out presents for some a bit early, as meeting some early as they cant make the c word.
Good morning from Sefton where it is dark and dry.
I hope the nurse’s advice to have a week without the capsules and to increase fibre in your diet helps to solve your problems Mick.
Mini dog is due to leave us today; I’ll greatly miss her and our gentle cuddles.
Thinking of those supporting family members with health issues and those with troubles. May you all find something today which elicits a smile.
Good morning Mick, I hope that the advice really helps you, fingers crossed! Enjoy your breakfast sarnie, it sounds yummy 😋
I enjoyed my wander around Aberystwyth yesterday, the train wasn’t running so there was a free luxury coach ride each way, very nice 😊 After lunch we had another lovely beach walk, the sunken forest was visible at low tide though much less than on previous visits. It’s fascinating.
Today nothing planned so will see what happens!
Have a lovely weekend everyone 🌹
Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but its dry here in brackley this morning, looks clear because I can see the town hall clock .
Yesterday , I spoke to a colonial nurse at Churchill on the phone, and trying something different as to things , by not taking the capsules for a week , but have a daily fybogel to increase my fibre intake ,and also not have porridge but more fibre based cereals .
Today , Bicester for a couple of hours , small shop may have bacon, egg and grilled tomato sarnie as well in my favourite cafe .
Take Care,
Mick
