Good morning all from a fairly bright and dry start here Glasgow. Much chiller though as we move towards November.
Apart from collecting scripts, not much else on the agenda and will take the day as it comes.
Best wishes and much love to all.

Good Morning Tuesday 31st October 2023
(46 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry outside here in brackley .
Yesterday went to plan ,and today will get the bus for a couple of hours in Bicester , I was surprised the number of people who I know made the bus journey themselves yesterday , having used the bus service to visit my surgery .
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning from sunny West Sussex. It’s very soggy here with roads closed due to flooding but no houses afffected as far as I know.
Lovely photos of India, Liberty, and of your woodland, Mizuna. I am jealous of people with woodland gardens and even more so if they have a burn (stream) running through.
I think I commented last year on reading that the Scottish Halloween tradition of telling a joke or reciting a poem when calling on neighbours for a ‘treat’ is still going strong. I hope your DGS remembers his punchlines, Grandmabatty.
Rosie’sMaw, your Halloween cake looks suitably scary. I made cupcakes with my youngest DGDs yesterday - four colours of icing were applied and they were topped with a ‘sour brain’ 😂
I was to be on granny duty all week as littlest DGD (4) had a date for her tonsills and adenoids removal on Wednesday (a cancellation had come up). My SiL is away at the moment- DD said “I knew this would happen!”. DD rang this morning with a photo of her Covid test showing a faint but definite line. She had a sore throat yesterday. So op is postponed but I will go over and do the school pick up and probably stay over as planned. I am hoping my August/September Covid and my recent jab, will protect me.
Hope your medicines fight off the COPD symptoms, Marydoll, and that you continue to feel better with the stopping of the biologics.
Great news of your DH’s good response to treatment and your return to your Spanish paradise, Urmstongran. I hope the sun shines for you both ☀️
Off to get organised for a few days with the gc. There will be ‘trick or treating’, as this is England/America. Hope the rain stays off until after 6pm.
💀🕸️🍬
Good Morning. I haven’t posted on here for years but read every day. I just had to say how happy I am for Urms and himself. Hope you have a lovely time
Good morning Mick and all from a wet northwest coast.
My sister left yesterday afternoon to drive south and DD arrived very late last night from the south…she was still in her hospital clothes (this job runs alongside her cabin crew job) and kept her distance as there was covid on the ward. I enjoyed a gammon steak and pineapple earlier, but she had eaten.
I’m singing and in charge at the music club today and need to think about the weekend arrangements when I travel south with DD and take a trip abroad with her.
Thoughts to all with worries as always.
Good morning everyone from a grey and damp Northampton; hope to get out on a health walk this afternoon if the showers hold off.
A late night last night as I went to see 'Jesus Christ Superstar ' at Milton Keynes theatre with wine club friends. It was brilliantly done with superb acting and singing, and Lloyd Webber 's sublime music performed by a live band on stage. One of the stars is being interviewed on our local radio this morning, so I am looking forward to that.
Must stir myself and get ready to face the day - may today bring only good things; and more treats than tricks!
Good morning , gosh it’s dark ! So much for gaining an hour of daylight ,
Cards to make , so many birthdays this time of year !
Keep safe and well and out of the rain xx
Good morning after overnight rain it’s a lovely day, but we are due some shocking weather later.
Hope everyone has a good day
Grammaretto 💐
Discussion over way forward for a local group which I chair as the secretary has flounced off. Feelings need to be soothed and a new secretary found, so a busy morning. Supermarket shop to follow, but nothing else on the agenda. Lovely golden autumn morning despite the weather forecast saying heavy rain and light winds. Probably later!
Good morning Mick and everyone from dull Carlisle. It's getting November-ish, the month of the year I detest, it's always depressing. Someone wrote an apt poem about it once.
I worked hard at the housework yesterday morning and rewarded myself in the afternoon by booking next year's cruise. I was pleased...no single supplement and an extra 10% off because I have been away with them several times before. Now I can cheer myself up throughout winter by thinking of it.
Today, more housework and, after lunch, my covid jab. Last year, for the first time, I had a reaction to it and suffered for 2 or 3 days.
Poor MrMarydoll ! I hope the 'jaundice' gets better soon.
Have the best possible day, all.
Good morning. Unlike many others I slept fairly well last night . I think it was because we had our Covid jabs yesterday afternoon and by 8 pm I couldn’t keep my eyes open. No other reactions except for a slightly sore arm.
Bits and bobs this morning and then WI sewing group this afternoon. Also want to make a table decoration for the meeting tomorrow.
I have only skimmed though other post but hope all the journeys and holidays go well. Hugs for those who need them and a good day wished for all .
As my DGDs would say - Wow GrannyGravy! They are such talented lads. DGDs have been to see them every time they've been up here and this time they are going to meet & greet.
Commiserations karma. I'm feeling as if I could nod off now, but it's time to hang out the washing and then get ready for tai chi. Hey ho
Glorious photos Liberty, thank you for sharing.
Good morning to you all,
it’s a wet, miserable start to the day, but it’s supposed to brighten up a bit this afternoon before the next swathe of rain. I think it will be a damp night for all the little witches 🧙♀️ and goblins 👹 out trick or treating tonight. I can hardly believe it’s the end of October already.
Good news, urms - have a lovely break with your DH, well deserved.
Only flicked through the thread, but it seems as if a few of you are or have been on the search for new electrical appliances. Good luck with your searches.
Car having its mot and service today so 🤞that there are no nasty surprises.
Have a good day.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Promising to be a beautiful autumn day. Golden leaves in the Sunshine.
I love my woodland too Mizuna. It's another reason I will find leaving here hard, if I do go.
Chiropractor this morning for my monthly adjustments.
Raku firing with a friend this afternoon in preparation for our pottery and painting exhibition which opens this weekend . Help! Luckily there are 6 artists vying for space so no pressure.
I bought a kitchen dresser on gumtree yesterday and it's already installed.
That full moon has much to answer for!
Beautiful Amritsar Liberty .
Bitter sweet for me as we were both going to a wedding there in 2020 which was cancelled. The couple married quietly elsewhere and my DH died.
I hope all your plans go well and that you have a happy day.
Good morning from Durham. At last a dry day is forecast, but it’s very gloomy and still - I’ve towels washed, so hope they’ll dry a little outside - the tumble dryer has been working overtime recently.
DD2 etc finally made it to a pumpkin farm near Hexham yesterday afternoon - muddy, to say the least, DGS2 was filthy, but happy and we rounded it off with ice-cream. DD1’s estate makes a big thing of Halloween, but she’s away and will miss it.
This morning, I’m meeting a friend for coffee and need to pick up a few essentials. I have a ‘financial issue’ to discuss in a 2.30 phone call after which I’ll take Little Dog out for a walk.
Best wishes to all. X
Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is only 5°C.
I have woken up with what feels like a COPD acerbation.
My usual persistant cough is worse and my chest hurts.
Hopefully increasing my inhalers and the prophylactic antibiotics I am on for life will keep it at a manageable level.
In saying that, I did feel slightly more human yesterday. DH says he is frightened to jinx it by saying I look a bit better!
It was heartwarming to read positive posts about those in the sick bay yesterday and of everyone's doings..
Mizuna, how fortunate you are to have that wood on your doorstep and great pictures from India.
Taichinan, I made that very same comment about forcing us out of our comfort zone, to DIL last week. Because we hadn't seen Babydoll due to the fact they had been full of the cold and didn't want to give it to me, they invited us to come for dinner and feed her, since she had just started solids. What, go out in the DARK ?, I asked.🤣 DH wasn't too keen either. Of course we went, but was glad DH was driving. despite praying all the way home.
As for the fake tan, DH said he had realised something was wrong and stopped, because the consistency was so runny. If he stopped, then why does he look as if he has jaundice! 🤣 The children were begging me to send a photo of him.
Nothing planned for today, a hem to take up and try and pluck up courage to raid the freezer to search for something for dinner. I'm trying to run them down before Christmas.
Have a good day folks.
Good morning from wet Harrogate, safe journey Olddudders
Glad you are well enough for a trip to Spain, Urms you will enjoy!!
Yesterday was a busy day chatting to my friend and DSISTERS. then I had a load of soup to make to to use up the thawed out veggies from my now defunct fridge freezer!
Today we get the bus to Leeds to visit JL and hopefully find a replacement Fridge freezer
Have the best day possible folks
Good morning grey and damp here again. Lovely chat to DF yesterday and catch up on the phone with oldest friend who was in a bit of a state with difficult decisions to make. I am hoping to get to the local shopping centre but wondering how my back will like it.
Best wishes to all and let’s hope we can get a bit more sleep
Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s a brighter start today.
I had a good walk at Saltburn yesterday, fish and chips for lunch. The tide was out beyond the pier and cliffs when we arrived but came crashing in later. The beach is covered with pebbles after the recent storms and workmen were busy clearing more up from the prom.
I came home and cut down the buddleia but was too late for the tip so will take it today. More gardening and some housework before taking my friend for her radiotherapy later this afternoon.
Good news urms. Enjoy your time away.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s bright and dry
What a lovely weekend to look forward to Taichinan, hope you all have a wonderful time
Today I’m off to the gym for Boxercise, it’s good fun and burns some calories. Then off across the car park for coffee with my pal and a good catch up. DGD is off to a Halloween party tonight so there’s no after school activities to help out with.
Such interesting photos Liberty thanks for sharing
Good to hear from you glammagran enjoy the rest of your cruise, lucky lady!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning all from bright and dry South Lanarkshire.
Just caught up with yesterday’s thread. So delighted for you Urms.
I laughed at your DH’s mishap Marydoll.
It looks like the weather here could be good for all the guisers this evening. I’ve decorated the front of my house to look suitably ghoulish and have made up many bags of sweets. We used to include apples and nuts but that seems to have gone out of fashion.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Morn8ng from a bright S Hampshire, good to hear other halves are improving, happy catch-up with yours today Ashcombe.
Stunning photo’s Liberty thank you.
A very busy day on the voluntary phone yesterday, 15 calls, most are sorted, dregs to clear up this morning.
Quiz was entertaining, my team discovered our knowledge of Halloween trivia is not extensive!
I’ll get a walk today and get some planting done.
🦩🦩
Have just reached Lanzarote on our cruise. Yesterday we were driven up Mount Teide in Tenerife. It was luckily very clear. We stopped at the very famous observatory half way up and looked at the sun through a telescope and saw the flares coming from it. I chickened out of taking the cable car to the summit as the altitude was making me unwell. It was awful to see the miles of burnt forest but were informed the trees recover very well and 2 years from now they will look the same as before the fires. Having a lot of trouble posting any photos as nothing is syncing properly.
I’m so pleased for you and your husband Urms. Hope you have a lovely time back at your home from home. Ash wishing you a good fortnight with your DH. Thoughts with all the poorlies.
Good morning from s somerset and I won`t mention the forthcoming rain
Taichinan, the full moon always affects my sleeping pattern, that plus the hour change is wreaking havoc with my circadian system. I could not stay in bed after 4.30 this morning
Really busy yesterday plus I made a large parkin, which is now waiting for three days and then I will freeze in portions
Ground is sodden again but I need to be out this morning, I will turn into a blob if I sit all day, hence a walk soon
Rest of the day will be relaxing knitting and some paperwork to sort and knitting patterns to sort and a freezer to sort. Did I say relax?
Have a good day
Good morning all - dismal out but well what did I expect , it’s nearly NOVEMBER.
Off to Somerset later this morning armed with a Halloween (clementine) cake and three bags of sugar rich ammo for the troops. The weather looks as if it is going to be dreadful so I have to admit to some trepidation (it’s a 3 1/2-4 hour drive) but “feel the fear and do it anyway”. Rosie is going to the K place 😢
Sorry many of you have had bad nights it doesn’t help much does it?
Wishing you all a peaceful,day
