Is there reliable evidence that mindfulness is beneficial?
Mindful Walking:
I heard quite a bit about mindfulness from youngest DC years ago. Then I bought her the Ladybird Book of Mindfulness and she and her housemates saw the funny side.
Well although the thing is nonsensical - if it does encourage some humans to leave their technology at home for once, then it will at least have some benefit!
Those of us in the older generations are used to having "silent" times. These days many people just can't bear it even for a few minutes.
Not sure about silent walking if the rain is pattering heavily on the hood of your waterproof (as happened to me in Cornwall recently). Does that count does anyone know?
Dear me, whatever next? Obviously it’s much better to drive half a mile to the gym, and then spend half an hour on a walking treadmill. Any exercise is so much more beneficial if you have to pay for it. 😉
When you think about it, the more people get wrapped up in technology the less they engage with the natural world. So 'discovering' anything natural will be a revelation to them. These are things we were brought up with as perfectly normal, because we had no technology.
