🤣🤣🤣
The next big thing will be talking to the person next to you on the bus

Or actually making a phone call on that device you paid a lot of money for 🤷‍♀️

It's actually a meditation practise which of course has now become a trend.. exactly like mindfulness.. but both nevertheless are very beneficial

It used to be called walking😂

Marvellous!

Is smiling at people you meet allowed or would a cheery 'good morning' break the silence?

BigBertha1 Tue 31-Oct-23 09:32:33

Me too I'm a trendsetter.

Greyduster Tue 31-Oct-23 09:34:19

This truly makes me roll my eyes. Are these the sane people who rechristened a walk in the woods “forest bathing”?

Chestnut Tue 31-Oct-23 09:51:15

When you think about it, the more people get wrapped up in technology the less they engage with the natural world. So 'discovering' anything natural will be a revelation to them. These are things we were brought up with as perfectly normal, because we had no technology.

Witzend Tue 31-Oct-23 09:51:28

Dear me, whatever next? Obviously it’s much better to drive half a mile to the gym, and then spend half an hour on a walking treadmill. Any exercise is so much more beneficial if you have to pay for it. 😉

Witzend Tue 31-Oct-23 09:52:45

On a treadmill with headphones on, of course.

HettyBetty Tue 31-Oct-23 09:55:47

Oooh, I'm massively on trend for once 😁

Not sure about silent walking if the rain is pattering heavily on the hood of your waterproof (as happened to me in Cornwall recently). Does that count does anyone know?

Galaxy Tue 31-Oct-23 09:56:58

Is there reliable evidence that mindfulness is beneficial?

😂😂😂

As we didn't have a car I must have been in a flow state for much of my life.

Is talking to the dog allowed or does that interrupt the flow?

henetha Tue 31-Oct-23 10:39:30

Wow. For the first time ever, I'm trendy!

wildswan16 Tue 31-Oct-23 10:42:05

Well although the thing is nonsensical - if it does encourage some humans to leave their technology at home for once, then it will at least have some benefit!

Those of us in the older generations are used to having "silent" times. These days many people just can't bear it even for a few minutes.

Mindful Walking:

I heard quite a bit about mindfulness from youngest DC years ago.
Then I bought her the Ladybird Book of Mindfulness and she and her housemates saw the funny side.

Ziplok Tue 31-Oct-23 10:43:44

Goodness me, all this time I’ve been a trendsetter without realising it 😂😂😂.

Galaxy Tue 31-Oct-23 10:49:43

I am a bit grumpy about it Callistemon as I had to do enforced mindfulness artwork a while back, it made me stressed!

Galaxy Tue 31-Oct-23 10:50:32

At work that should say grin

Callistemon21 Tue 31-Oct-23 10:59:49

I think I'd enjoy that 😁
My knees wont let me walk at the moment.

Ali08 Tue 31-Oct-23 11:46:45

Oh dear, Callistemon, I hope you're feeling up to a nice walk soon.
Keep your knees nice and warm. xx

fancythat Tue 31-Oct-23 12:29:59

Even my friends have realised the world has gone a bit bonkers.
