So annoyed!!!

In our house the post is referred to as Royal Fail. We've missed medical appointments, had late charges on credit cards, missed birthdays and was late paying car tax all because of the dreadful postage service. I try these days to do everything on line because we are quite rural and lucky to get post once a week. I think the poor postie's are just overwhelmed by the amount they have to deliver and because we are way high up in the valley and they run out of time before they get to us.

As others have said, parcels via Royal Mail are better than letters. I ask for next day delivery and it works
It's expensive but when speed is important, worth it
If I send something fragile I always fast track it. That way it spends less time in the system so no chance to be used as a football.
DGD has a job with the RM Christmas post so I shall blame her if cards arrive late!😂

A letter from the local hospital was written on the 3rd, posted 1st class on 4th and received on 13th. The postman said they often have complaints that letters arrive too late for the hospital appointment. His explanation was that several postmen had left but not been replaced so they were short staffed.
I sent a parcel to my D in a baltic country. I sent it tracked but it still was not delivered as they are only tracked till they leave UK . I think it has gone down a black hole in Poland

Oooh err....yes, Christmas Cards......maybe we should have posted them at Easter. It's a bit of a dilemma isn't it.

I used Funky Pigeon, paying for 1st class postage for my daughter's new twins on Tuesday. It's now Saturday and she still hasn't got it.
I won't be using them again!

Posted halloween sweets to my grandkids on Friday and they arrived on the Monday to se England. (Second class from glasgow)

May I say, just a personal thing but I would feel so disappointed if someone just sent me an email message (I’m not on FB) and said they are giving money to charity instead of sending cards. I have had this happen with someone who could very well afford to post cards and give a big donation to charity and I just thought ‘Yeah, right’. I haven’t experienced cards posted in plenty of time (I usually post around 1Dec) not arriving. People who are lonely can’t put an email message on their mantelpiece and remember that somebody cared enough to take the trouble.

I've decided that this year I'm not going to send Christmas cards to people I can email, phone or message on Facebook. This is partly because of the cost and unreliability of the postal service. I will donate to Alzheimer's Society instead.

Hi Helter-skelter. The postie left it in the front basket of my mobility scooter which lives in the garage. My front door, and porch, are up three steps from the driveway. So there's no reason that I can think of. Maybe he just decided to play a game of Hunt the Post with me... 😊

Jaccqui Lawson aren’t the only e cards, but once again it’s down to personal enjoyment or dislike. If somebody sends me a JL card, I play it, then click and send a thank you

A friend posted a card to DP recently, she allowed 5 days for it get here just in case, and it didn’t arrive until several days after his birthday.You could have walked the distance in one day.

I only send electronic cards now. Wonderfuls selection at Jacquie Lawson foeevery occasion,with music and message facility

I send gifts by Special Delivery now which usually costs £6-£10 a parcel which is supposed to mean next day delivery but I am happy of the parcel arrives within a fortnight as we live in Orkney(!) and it gives me piece of mind as it includes tracking. I'm not well off but the system has not let us down yet.

Good news. The letter I mentioned above arrived -and today my driving licence is safely back with me. Well done RM.

I sent a New Home card to my great niece and 2 weeks later she rang to say she hadn’t received it (I’d put a cheque in it and asked her to let me know when it arrived). I cancelled the cheque and arranged for one of my children to send the money via bank transfer. A couple of days later she rang to say she had to attend the post office and pay a charge to collect an item of mail… my card! It had a sticker on saying the stamp was a forgery. I bought the stamp at my local post office and have used the other stamps in the book without a problem. When I complained at my post office they told me that unless I had a receipt (I didn’t) I couldn’t prove I’d bought the stamps from them and there was nothing they could do. I’m furious 😡

Why are we paying £1.25 first class when they don’t get there for weeks?

It just struck me that this year I won’t have to post a single xmas card. For several years I have donated to charity instead of buying cards and stamps. I had several elderly Aunts so just used to send them all one as older people like receiving post.

Sadly, the last two Aunts have now passed away, so no more cards. 😢

I posted a birthday card for my nephew last Saturday. First class.
He still hasn’t received it. What a waste of time/paper and money.
It’s his birthday today 😐🤦‍♀️

I send a voice message or video call family who live away after so many either late, or never delivered cards.

We pre arrange calls, it's only a few minutes out of each of our day, but is so personal.

Even sending cards well within the posting guidelines, they arrive late, so very disappointing.

However, I've found on occasion, Moonpig seem to overcome postal delivery delay for whatever reason.

RM is seriously understaffed. When our lovely postie is on leave there’s no-one to replace him to do his round. It’s ridiculous!

I can’t fault our postman. Our usual couriers are fine too. On the other hand, when I hear that something will be delivered by ParcelForce, I just wait for things to go wrong.

If you’re sending important documents consider using a courier if you’re not happy trusting them to Royal Mail Special Delivery.

I'm lucky if I get a delivery once a week. Ok noone writes to me but it's as though they wait until I have several letters before I get a delivery.

I phoned the hospital about my letter of confirmation for my cataract operation on Monday. They said it was posted on 23rd October but has not arrived. They have now emailed it.

100 years ago there would be several deliveries a day. Ofcourse we have alternative ways of communicating now so the post will gradually die out
