So annoyed!!!

Happened to me recently with a parcel, was only when I put a claim in it miraculously turned up 3 weeks late! Never known it happen but nothings the same nowadays is it!

Most of my birthday cards were late this year. One never did arrive.
Considering how much we pay for stamps it is really not good enough.
DD works for Royal Mail and says that domestic post isn't profitable and so business post gets priority.

My son in Cornwall sent his cousin in Bedfordshire a Congrats on the Birth of your Baby card. It arrived not long after the baby's fourth birthday. 😆

Slightly different but I sent a small packet of baby vests and babygrows to a friend in Africa a few years ago I wrote a note saying I m sending second size to allow for the post and growthspurts
The parcel arrived back to me a week or two ago the ‘baby’ is nearly 4 years old and starting school after Christmas 😂

It's awful. I have been feeling disappointed not to have had a thankyou for a parcel I sent in good time for DSiL birthday recently, but perhaps he didn't receive it.
It seems wrong to have to chase up gifts like this. It was sent 1st class post to the Highlands but perhaps the floods were a factor.

It’s so much the luck of the draw though isn’t it? I rushed to the post box in the village last Thursday to get a little parcel ( a “large letter”) of Halloween sweets for littlest grandsons in London to catch the only daily collection at 4.15 . It arrived on Saturday morning

I often send parcels and post to Bangor N Wales and they normally arrive the next day!! It must be because there is a mail ttran to Holyhead and the ferry.
So it does seem to be the luck of the draw. But so disappointing when there is a delay or a non delivery. And it's so expensive as well anyway.
Our lovely postie has disappeared and now we have post delivered at odd times of the day, delayed and often misdelivered. Especially annoying when they are hosp appointments.
I am tossing up whether to send Christmas cards at all this year.

With a bill to pay for new flooring I decided to use a cheque rather than on line banking. The organisation is five miles away and happy with cheques, usually we would hand deliver, in a fit of laziness into an envelope bearing a first class stamp it went. Emailed to tell them it was on its way, it arrived - 12 days later. We find while post to a friend in Wales arrives quickly, post to Norfolk takes two weeks. The uncertainty has encouraged a major cull of the Christmas card list.

We were still receiving Christmas cards around Easter here from the uk. I give up, beyond belief how bad it is these days. Parcels, on the other hand, arrive quite quickly. Obviously more money in it for someone.

I find it easier to buy presents online to be sent to the receiver’s address. Delivery seems more successful although the exact date can’t always be guaranteed but at least only a few days out.

I think we need to rethink what we expect from Royal Mail. We send a lot by Royal Mail, and as others have said, it can take anytime between 1 and 14 days.
I think staffing is another issue, apparently our area should be serviced by 35 postmen/postwoman and currently there are seven.

I sent my son and daughter in law an anniversary card a fortnight ago they did not get it. My daughter sent a card and that had not been received either it’s a disgrace considering the price of stamps now.
I find parcel delivery is efficient via any delivery company but the Royal Mail they are unreliable. Most times we are left a card but never see a delivery van (even though we are at home) to inform us they couldn’t deliver our parcel. We have to pick it up at the main office which is so inconvenient.

What worries me is when I’m asked to send identification e.g. passport or driving licence. I spent £7.35 to send a letter “guaranteed delivery” because it had my driving licence in it.
My family still send postcards. The standing joke is whether it’ll get back before we do. There have been several non-deliveries and the record for waiting is over 6 months.

That’s awful BlueBelle but funny! At least the parcel hadn’t completely disappeared off the face of the earth,

Mid October was one of my daughter's birthdays. Sent flowers to arrive in good time, which they did, Posted card three days before birthday, and in light of what I was hearing about second class post, attached a first class bar coded stamp. Twelve days later daughter contacted me to say she had now got the card but only after having to pay 1.56 excess postage.!!! She was told by postie that the bar coded light coloured first class stamps, are not valued as first class following last price rise at beginning of October. Now, this is total rubbish. I have put in a complaint to Posst Office, waiting their response, Sent them photos showing envelope alongside a ruler to show size, etc.

I got a hospital appointment for an hour before the letter arrived. Sadly I could not read the date on which it was posted .

Juliet I thought it had disappeared for the last four years but yes I had to smile especially when I read what I had written
I sent them a photo so at least they knew I d tried 😀

It’s no help with cards, but when sending a parcel I pay a bit extra for tracking. Seems to work.

Since September my daughters card ( 1st class) took 12 days to arrive .
A friends did not arrive at all !
I will be sending Christmas cards much earlier this year.

I haven't been out for a couple of days due to the weather, so when I went to get my car out this morning I found a large bundle of post for me in there.
Why on earth leave it in the garage! I've got a perfectly good letter box and porch.

I posted birthday cards in September 1st class, took 2 weeks to arrive. Last week I posted birthday lunch invites 2nd class, collected at 5.30pm, delivered next morning🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ there is no rhyme or reason, but it 8s vety annoying x

Do you think your postie thought your porch may flood? was it left high up in the garage? I am being generous!
