Good morning on All Saints Day. Wild, wet and windy here.
No guisers last night. The school and nursery really went to town for Hallowe’en and with the poor weather I think the young children stayed home. I will have to eat the treats myself.
The sewing machine is set up ready to make some table mats and runners for next month.
Take care in this wild weather all.

Another here thinking of dusty and her husband. Anxiety is my default mode now so I do empathise with her worries. I hope her husband is home soon. x
And Blossoming what a shock for you. You have an amazingly kind husband beside you, thank goodness. I hope you’re not too uncomfortable while you heal again. x
Good morning all, and I hope Storm Ciaran isn't hitting too badly. What a dreadful October that was - I just hope November can offer us something a little better otherwise it's going to be a looooong winter!
Glad Olddudders is back with you Ash - enjoy your together time
I love your little patio Mizuna. Enjoy your "baby"sitting.
Blossoming ouch!
to you too Dustyangel and I hope it's not too long a wait until you get news of DH. Waiting is the hardest.
Your poor sister Bluesapphire - that must be everyone's worst nightmare. I hope you get better news of her soon.
I can still identify with the Poor Sleepers Brigade. I was sure I would sleep last night .......
But never mind - lots to get on with today, and yesterday was a lovely day and the washing was dry by the time I got back from tai chi. Now for the ironing!
Stay safe, dry and warm everyone x
Good morning all from a dreich day in Glasgow. Heavy rain and gusts of high wind doesn’t make for a pleasant day.
I would rather not, but unfortunately I have a bloods appointment early afternoon.
Welcome to the fracture clinic Blossoming. My, hopefully last fracture experience was tripping in the garden and fracturing my hip and knee, so easily done at this age. Hope you heal soon.
What a frightening experience for you Dusty 💐 I hope you DH will be allowed home soon.
I noticed a few houses and gardens with Halloween decorations which was fun to see. Wondering if this is an annual ‘thing’ now before we see extravagant Christmas offerings next month.
Best wishes to all for a good day and a better day for all with worrying times.
Blossoming and Dustyangel (((hugs)))
Blossoming and dustyangel. 💐
Thank you fellow insomniacs, some good advice for me to take on board.
Good morning from BN3 which is just west of Brighton. I am at my youngest DD’s. She has Covid and is very poorly today. I did the Halloween round of neighbours with DGDs and a gaggle of children aged about 2 to 10. There were several ‘callers’ during the evening to whom I dispensed the treats DD had bought. All very polite but several were quite bedraggled as the rain had started about 6 and didn’t stop.
I got GDs to school this morning. Their school is just round the corner. DD WhatsApped me from her bedroom in the roof to tell me what to do about 8 year olds packed lunch. Fortunately the 4 year old was willing to have the roast chicken dinner that was on the school’s lunch menu for today.
The wind is already quite gusty here on the channel coast. I feel for NanKate’s GS and schoolmates on the Isle of Wight. I imagine all activities will have to be indoors. I was knocked off my feet by our campervan door blowing into me in the Needles car park a couple of years ago.
Sorry to hear of broken bones Blossoming and BlueSapphire’s sister 💐💐
Dusty, thinking of you and hoping for better news of your DH 💐
I better go and see if DD wants a hot drink and if anything needs doing. Otherwise I may relax and read my book. I’m tempted to go down to the beach to see the big waves but I will tidy up here first.y
Take care all who have, or will have, storm Ciaran.
Oh Dusty and Blossoming
Blossoming wave the word Osteoporosis past the Dr just in case. Not a club anyone wants to join..................
Good morning all from drying up Harrogate
Had a wakeful night with my throat on Fire. When I took my Alendronic acid on Saturday it got stuck in my throat and I think it’s burnt my throat which has been getting steadily worse. I’ve spoken to the doc over the phone 📞 who thinks really it will get better on its own! I wish I was as optimistic! Did try to get manuka honey in a shop in Leeds but they didn’t have any. Will go into town shortly and try there. We did order a fridge freezer from JL which should be with us on Monday, hooray! Have cleared up the mess from the old one.
Have the best day possible folks
No heating this morning so am waiting for a call to say when someone can come to look at the boiler which I thought was fixed last week. Not cold, fortunately, but could do without this buggeration - I would, just like a few weeks without domestic dramas!
Singing this afternoon if the expert comes this morning, otherwise will be hanging about all day. Local experts coming to collect the long case clock in the hall so it can be overhauled and out of the way next week when the new floor is laid. Clock was DH’s pride and joy and I was never allowed to touch it so it has not gone for the best part of three years. It will be really nice to hear it again. One way and another I am spending money as if it was going out of fashion!
Oh golly Dusty. I hope all is well.🌹
Blossoming and Dusty. 💐
Good morning everyone from a dry algarve 18°.
I had a very disturbed night, DH’s lower legs kept giving out yesterday afternoon and he was also a bit confused but very insistent that he would be fine when he’d had a rest. He got worse early evening and eventually landed up in Faro emergency department.
A long wait of course but I think we were lucky with the timing as he was seen after about an hour or so. They were going to do tests overnight and advised me to come back home and he might be back this morning.
I eventually got home about 3.00am and woke up again before six.
It’s going to be a long day I think.
I’ll try to catch up with you all through the day.
Good morning from a very damp and dismal Essex coast.
I'm meeting up with Gingster and GG13 later for lunch. We haven't seen each other for a very long time so there will be lots of chatting.
First off I'm going into town with DH who has to visit the bank. I'm sure we will have coffee as well.
Have the best day you can and stay safe in the wind and rain xxx
Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire, currently 12°C.
Yesterday I managed to break 2 bones in my hand in a totally freak accident. Luckily it’s the hand I don’t use, so no problem keeping it immobilised. MrB is taking me out for a coastal drive today to see all the visiting geese on the salt marshes. I suspect he is trying to stop me from doing any more damage! We will call in to RSPB Marshside, which some Grans will be familiar with.
Have the best day you can 🌹
Good morning and white rabbits from a brightening northwest coast.
DD and DS here. We had a lovely time last night. DD cooked a spag bol (or spag bog as I call it) and we had lots of interesting chat. Nice not to cook, but I cleared everything away. DS will tackle some little jobs waiting to be done. After the busy day, music club, shopping then evening fun, I have slept through a solid eight hours.
Hope you all have the very best day you can and I will read through later🌺
.
Good morning Mick and everyone from a very wet Carlisle.
Yesterday lunchtime, I went for my covid jab. Hopefully there will be nothing worse than my currently sore arm as it was Pfizer. The last one was Moderna and I was unwell for 2 or 3 days. My jabber confirmed that you were more likely to get a worse reaction from the latter.
Today I have a few little jobs then I need to have an admin session on the Mac. Life seems to need a lot of admin these days. As it's likely to rain all day, I may even get started on my new book later.
I'm another who can have sleep problems. What has greatly helped me is the meditation app on my tablet. It has a sleep section. The breathing, relaxation and visualisation exercises get me off to sleep quickly and calm those racing thoughts. As for getting back to sleep in the middle of the night. one of its tips was gentle breathing and counting mentally down from 100 on your exhale. Usually works. If not, I may turn radio 4 on, it switches to the World Service from 1-5am and I find concentrating on some interesting, not usually political, talk soon makes me nod off again. Lavender oil on a tissue close by is also helpful.
Half-term is over up here, the children didn't have a bad week weather-wise. There'll be no outside fun today for those off this week I guess. Good luck to all of you getting the storm, I don't think we'll be badly affected here.
Good morning everyone, and Happy White Rabbits Day from a damp and grey Northampton, but the sun is trying to show its face.
Yesterday turned out lovely; at 12.30 it was pouring with rain and I had decided not to go out; 20 minutes later the sun came out and it stopped raining, so I scrambled to get ready and rushed out to join my walking group. We had a lovely walk in brilliant sunshine (over 7000 steps), followed by coffee and delicious caramel sponge at our local charity HQ. Afterwards I went into their charity shop and bought a brand new mini-skirt for £3.50. It will look nice with thick tights, boots and a matching jumper. Just because I am in my late 70s doesn't mean I have to dress like an old lady!
Bad news on Monday evening while I was at the theatre - one of my younger sisters had a really bad fall at home. Luckily she was found by her carers on their morning visit who called an ambulance. Turned out she had broken her hip and also her neck; the hip was operated on yesterday and they are awaiting a second opinion on the neck fracture.
Her daughters have decided that she is not safe to live alone any longer, (she is prone to falling over), so will be looking for a care home in the next few weeks, hopefully nearer to family. She is also becoming more confused and forgerful, and had been going through tests for dementia. Visiting is difficult, as she lives 150 miles away, but my DD has said she will try and organise something if I wish to see her.
Not sure whether to try and get to the well-being cafe this afternoon, it depends on the weather. If not it will be an afternoon of reading. And I have a garden chair to put away should Northants get the forecast high winds.
Chicken satay stir-fry and rice for dinner tonight.
Take care in this stormy weather.
Good morning from a damp Black Country, where it is cloudy but not raining at the moment.
We need to get the Gazebo down today for the Winter, and before the storm starts!
Apart from that no real plans for today, but I'm sure something will crop up.
Wishing you all the best day possible
Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s still raining. I expect it’s going to lead to more local flooding from the River Swale. It’s certainly the wettest autumn for a long time Greyd.
I have an online Mind course to do this morning, “Conversations in the Community”. I think it will be really helpful in talking with our parent carers.
Coffee with a friend later and I may go to the garden centre for an amaryllis. I haven’t had one for a few years.
Enjoy the company of grandchildren all of you helping out with half term. Have a good day everyone.
Good morning Mick and All from a calm before the storm type of day in South Bucks.
My youngest DGS is on his first PGL holiday on the Isle of Wight which is about to be battered by storm weather! I do hope he and his friends are holed up safely until the weather improves when he returns on Friday. 🤞
Good morning from a grey, damp NE.
Yesterday the bank complaints department rang again, they still haven't managed to sort out the problem. Five months is a long time, they told me it would be sorted in 15 days.
This morning my solicitor is bringing papers for me to sign, this is the rescheduled visit from last week.
Don't think I will be seeing DS as he still has covid.
