Wind is whipping up now and set to be 48mph tomorrow - I have no plans to go anywhere at all ....!

But on Friday I have a train journey to negotiate - or maybe there will be the wrong kind of leaves on the line ....

Here in the sunny, tho not today, Isle of Thanet, it is very blowy out there! My housemate was worried about me going to bed last night because of the trees not far from my windows, but I think it would take a very big tornado to uproot those ones with all that is piled up out there - not our garden, just past the fence of our tiny little yard is some land, no one knows whose it is, but it's filled with soil, mainly, and some smaller bits of junk!
It's been raining hard on and off. I think it's just started again. We shan't be going anywhere today, but I hope the GC will be alright at school - luckily, they are driven there & back, so don't have to wait for buses!
Stay safe, everyone!!

We are at the start of the Thames Estuary on the Essex coast. Torrential rain at the moment and very windy. An amber weather warning is in place. I believe it is due to get worse later.
I hope everyone stays safe xx

We are in the throes of it here in the CI my goodness it is serious.
Family all safe but sharing the footage from friends etc the island is in a mess.

The one day I was due to go out to a concert. Don’t know whether I’ll go or not. Will wait to see what the wind and the trains are doing later.

The car broke down yesterday.
I will write a thread at some point.

Awful.
Gusts are apparently 57 mph.

I imagine rooves will suffer, and burst rivers.

Thank you Mamie. I hope you have not been affected too badly.

Touch wood even the greenhouse is ok! Our maximum wind seems to have been 110 kmh.

Just worrying about our holiday home in Normandy, halfway up the Cotentin penninsula. It is well inland but...........

We are due to visit next week and have neighbours and a concierge who will let us know if anything disastrous has happened.

The Manche is still on Alerte Rouge. The wind in Granville peaked at 170kph last night. 🤞for you.

I was going on to say golf club shut but if that's all we have to worry about then we are thankful. Just have to put boots on and go for a walk.

Very wet again here in Leicestershire but not excessively windy. Many areas of land still soaked from two weeks ago. G

BlueBelle Thu 02-Nov-23 06:26:27

Well I ve slept very little went downstairs in the night and my conservatory floor is soaking, it’s old so guess there’s a leak somewhere The wind sounds like how it was when I was in a hurricane the trees are bent nearly double, thank goodness I had my eucalyptus trees cut down a few years back, as they were huge and so close to my house
It seems to be south and east that is effected I m east coast I can hear the sea from my house it’s the wildest storm I ve been in for a long time
Things always seem worse at night don’t they it ll soon be lighter

Mamie Thu 02-Nov-23 06:00:41

Pretty bad in Normandy. Waiting to see if the greenhouse has survived.

Ailidh Thu 02-Nov-23 05:52:43

I'm on the NW coast of England and it's all serene. We often get ferocious winds but not this time.

grandMattie Thu 02-Nov-23 05:21:43

Wet here in Bristol, but I haven’t noticed any wind yet.

Grandmabatty Thu 02-Nov-23 02:53:03

That sounds really scary Bluebelle I hope you are ok

BlueBelle Thu 02-Nov-23 01:19:12

Should have said our wind is between 50 and 60mph at moment 😱

BlueBelle Thu 02-Nov-23 01:12:35

1.10am
Scary really scary on east coast I just heard glass shattering and doors are banging in the distance just been round the house shutting windows and making sure my doors are all shut
I ve put the radio on so it covers the noises up a bit but it’s not doing much good Just heard something else crash outside my house sounded metallic
Don’t think I ll get much sleep tonight
Stay safe everyone

All is calm and still here. We are supposed to be going out for lunch tomorrow. We will see what the day is like when we wake up. According to the local weather forecast, it isn't going to be too bad.

Litterpicker Thu 02-Nov-23 00:04:35

Very blowy here on south coast near Brighton. I am hoping the schools won’t suddenly decide to close as DD has Covid and I will have to entertain/keep the peace between DGDs 😨

RosiesMaw Wed 01-Nov-23 23:55:53

Having a few days in S Somerset with the family and it’s been pretty wild!
It seems to have eased just now and the forecast suggests a “window” until about 8 tomorrow morning (still raining though ) when it all kicks off again.

Mizuna Wed 01-Nov-23 23:36:48

Quiet and dry here in Cornwall so far. It's supposed to hit 65mph at 0300 but the forecast is so often wrong that I'll believe it when I hear it. My grandson will set off on his 20-minute walk to school in the morning in a 45 mph wind, supposedly.

maddyone Wed 01-Nov-23 23:36:42

Extremely windy here on the south coast. We’re in bed and can hear the wind really blowing hard. It is raining too and has been since early evening.
