Toni box

They're great for children , my nephew loves his . He has autism and loves selecting his figure and listening to the tunes they make. His parents bought the box and we all bought him figures last Christmas. You could try ebay or Facebook marketplace for a second hand one

I have read this thread with interest and am going to get one for my 3 year old granddaughter for Christmas, any recommendations on which figures to get to go with it?

My youngest GC’s have a Toni with several figures which they absolutely love. Even a one year old can operate and use the volume controls.

My five year old granddaughters love their stories on this. It's a new twist on the storytapes that my children had. I think that it's good for small children to listen to something with no visual stimulation sometimes ( retired Early Years practitioner here!)

My grandsons have one and they love listening to it before they go to sleep
It is expensive .but has been worth every penny .they have had theirs for a few years now

They are a German invention and our DGC all have them and have had them since they were little, so they have acquired quite a collection of Tonie figures. They are quite bulky, though. I have seen American ones which are coming out which are much less cumbersome and work with little cards and which probably have a more extensive library of English language content.

The German ones are not only stories. Our DGS (9) listens over and over again to one on space travel.

The name comes from the German word "Ton" which simply means "sound". Related to the English word "tone".

My DD bought the Yoto for her children and it is used daily.

When she bought it her eldest was 5 and she felt the card was a better storage solution and at that time the list of available books was better on Yoto.

Have a look at the reviews on Amazon, I have only heard about them on some parenting podcasts, all positive remarks.

Yes it’s good. My 4 yo GD has one. You can get the family to record messages or reading a story. She likes to listen to her older cousins reading her a story.

My grandsons (2&4)love their Tonie. They can work it themselves, choose their own stories and enjoy listening to them

Yoto is a similar device, but uses cards instead of figures. My daughter bought one and finds it very good for 5 year old and 3 year old. Great for the car. She researched both before deciding on Yoto. They've had it nearly a year. You can get blank cards and put your own stories or music on them. Definitely not a 5 minute wonder.

They have been around for a few years so no, not a five minute wonder. I bought one for my four year old granddaughter last Christmas. Very well made and yes, expensive. Do take a look at their website (Tonies) to understand just what they can do. She loves to listen the stories with no screens involved, perfect for quiet time after a busy day at school. It doesn't replace stories read to her at bedtime. I feel it was money well spent.

Have you googled it for yourself ? I don’t know anyone who has one and would imagine it’s very new as we haven’t had any come in the shop

It looks like a collection of Toni figures and a story telling music box. I’ve no idea if it’s any good but it’s very expensive and presumably you buy more figures and build a collection.
