way back in 1973
The young boy in the advert has reconstructed the famous image.

The actual location is Gold Hill in Shaftesbury,Dorset.
If you are an eco-warrior its the train to Gillingham and bus it the rest of the way.
What other famous film around the same time was filmed at Gold Hill?

Is that the one with the beautiful village on a very steep hill?
Imagine that when it's wet or icy!!

Yes do remember it, Ridley Scott's early directorial effort pre Gladiator!

Have visited Shaftesbury's Gold Hill, idyllic.

I went to Shaftesbury a few weeks ago, and had my best sandwich ever sitting outside a little cafe in the centre. Gold Hill is lovely, but I wouldn’t like to live on it with all the tourists staring at my house every day.

I remember the advert well I imagine it was a good location for filming lots of dramas. The railway children maybe The Mayor of Casterbridge?

I would imagine Thomas Hardy stuff?

My friend lives there and we often visit Gold Hill. It has that timeless sort of feel, wasn't the Hovis advert something like, "as good as it's ever been"?
And the music from that symphony brings it all together.

I have clear memories of the Hovis advert. The film was Far From the Madding Crowd. I have visited the farm complex used in the film as it belongs to people I know.

My preferred memory is of Ronnie Barker's sketch based on the advert.

I’ve just had a trip down memory lane and watched it on YouTube. It brings back lovely memories. I read in the comments section the young lad went on to be a fire fighter.

I certainly remember it, and in my head that lovely music is still the ‘Hovis ad tune’.

Similarly, I can’t hear that Mozart horn concerto without thinking of Flanders and Swann, and the French horn from a second-hand shop!

It was a lovely ad and I have fond memories of watching Ronnie Barker's version with my gran who was literally crying with laughter.

I loved that advert!

And the one with granddad and his grandson eating soup! Heinz Oxtail Soup.
