Oh for the days when it was just an ice cream tub in the interval.

I went to the cinema recently. for the first time in about 5 years.
It had a refubishment. Great.
But the cinema goers were still there!
I sort of think, would I want whoever in my house, on my couch with me, watching a film?No I wouldnt.

Ok if I can sit several seats away.

That’s why I like a small rather more “art house” cinema not too far from me which BlueSapphire also knows well.
No popcorn, nachos or coke but wide comfy leather seats with a shelf wide enough for a glass of Merlot!

It's worse at a cinema. Last time I went the man next to me had a big steaming pile of loaded nachos, a huge cup of Coke that he drank noisily through a straw and finished up with a sharing bag of Kettle crisps. The noise was bad but the smells were worse.

Primrose , he was very ill mannered to say the least!!! Especially as you were eating sweets that were unwrapped. On the other hand I do object to sweet rustlers when I am in the theatre but when it happens I do not confront the offenders!

Oh dear. DH has a cold and went through half a pack of mints this week at the theatre to sooth his throat so he didn’t cough. And of course as his supportive wife I’d to have one or several as well.

We did open them very quietly in the noisier bits though, and we were by no means the only ones. He bought them at the theatre kiosk which also sells posh crisps….

Brilliant retort, Primrose 😂😂

One thing I move seats for is sweet rustling ,lolly rustling here but he was pretty rude with it. Probably was an ex failed actor, it fits!

I like your retort very much indeed!👍 It’s not as if you had actually rustled any sweet wrappings, which of course is annoying.
I was amazed to see two women put their drinks on the actual stage a few weeks ago from their seat on the front row😳

Had the misfortune tonight of sitting next to somebody who claimed to be an actor and occasional lecturer at drama school.

He made a big theatrical thing of “shall I squeeze past you” as he needed to sit the other side of us. After the play started a few people around us opened their sweets so I went to open mine. I felt a jab in my elbow and I just assumed he was getting comfy, then another jab and then a hiss and he said “do you mind, we’re watching a play”. So I suggested he told everybody else not just me.

I put the sweets away and never once moved but I was not happy. When the lights went on at the end I turned to him and said “I was very tempted to jab you in the elbow a few times because you smell of damp and mothballs and I have had to put up with that all evening but unlike you I don’t do that to people.” The woman he was with sat there open mouthed. Then he said “but we’re watching a play”. I said “I don’t need you to tell me what a play is or how to behave”.

Loads of people were eating sweets and a few had drinks with them and I hate hearing people continuously rattling papers but I deliberately chose sweets with no wrappers!

If theatres don’t want people to eat or drink then they should not sell such things and they should display signs to that effect.
