Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a bright, dry South Yorkshire. Thank you all for your birthday good wishes. We had a lovely, if rather chaotic, family dinner; could have done with an extra leaf in the dining table! And DD provided a nice cake. DS made some remark about not putting the requisite number of candles on it lest they stuck all the oxygen out of the room! He’s not too old for a clip round the ear! I am supposed to be watching GS play football today if pitch conditions allow, and then he’s raiding his piggy bank to take me out for Sunday dinner. His birthday treat! My, they grow up so quickly. I’ll make sure I choose the most expensive thing on the menu (not😁)!
Happy travels Urms.
Wishing OD a speedy recovery, Ash.
Maw💐
Have a good day, folks.

Good Morning Sunday 5th November 2023
(60 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and signs of rain overnight here in brackley.
My doctors appointment went OK ,and my system is acting normal at the moment have been told to contact surgery if diarrhea persists.
Today a quiet day in .
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning all from South Perthshire where it seems to be bright but cold and very damp. Glad the Dr is pleased with your progress Mick - that's reassuring for you.
Safe travels to your happy place Urms and himself - have a perfect relaxing time.
Love your coffee table Mizuna, clever lady.
Well, DGD3's 18th birthday was well and truly celebrated in great style yesterday and she - and all of us! - thoroughly enjoyed it. The Diversity concert was amazing - I so enjoy dance of any kind, and my Dancing DGD was on the edge of her seat, dancing every moment with them! We then went to a Mexican restaurant for food - and an enormous cocktail for the birthday girl! The journey home was 'interesting' - I've never been in a train packed with so many drunken people! Luckily they were all very happy and amiable drunks, so no problems at all. DS1 said their train out to the Ayrshire coast was the same - everybody singing on theirs!
Anyway that's the end of this family's 18ths. Next excitement is the birth of my first great-grandson in a couple of weeks .......
Enjoy your day everyone and I hope those with health problems feel a little bit brighter x
A lovely morning here but I still feel very lacklustre though will try to go to church, I think. Perhaps being out of the house will help energise me.
Good to see a novella from Marydoll and hope that means she is feeling a bit less awful. Sympathy to olddudders and to his nurse and to anyone else not well.
Good morning from a dry Suffolk after a day of heavy rain yesterday. The Waitrose van with a driver who hasn’t been here before turned left rather than right on the bend on the drive on to a part that is just soil, aka now mud and got stuck. He was a young man ,obviously worried and had 4 more hours of deliveries to do.
I’ve always known that DH is a thoughtful patient person who rose to the challenge of extricating said van from the mud, made worse by the driver’s own attempts to do so which resulted in deep grooves in the mud where he had spun the wheels. Armed with initially cardboard and then an old tarpaulin and with his calm, reassuring demeanour, DH helped him to free the van and proceed on his journey after only a 20 min delay.
I meanwhile kept a low profile indoors and put the shopping away being grateful I had the easier job!
Off to visit DS and family today so I can give DGC the little presents I bought for them in India. Why are DGSs so much more difficult to buy things for especially when they are teenagers? I could have filled a basket for DGDs who range in age from 6 to 17 with bangles, bags, silk purses etc.
Thinking of Urms and her DH as they look forward to a few days in the warmth of the sun and their friends in their happy place.
Maw 💐
Mizuna lovely table and how clever of you to recycle the discarded book.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. The weather looks dry
Yesterday was busier than expected with setting up an exhibition and then giving a hand at the community café where everyone trooped in at lunchtime and we ran out of soup. Mountains of you washing up followed. I know my place!
I had forgotten I was invited to tea until a phone message woke me from my granny nap.
Today Quaker meeting followed by the exhibition preview and cinema if any energy is left. Cataract operation tomorrow morning.
I was about to tell Marydoll not to overdo things.
Thinking of all those who are poorly.
Olddudders and monk's cousin.
I hope the Urms have a wonderful time in Spain.
Altogether, try to have a nice day with not too many sad thoughts.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and bright. Mick that's good to hear your doctor is positive. RosiesMaw 💐 As you say, life can change in an instant. Ash your poor dh. I hope he has a better day today.
Yesterday I met my pal for breakfast and we blethered lots. Dd sent a message to tell me dgs1 had swum without armbands etc. He was very proud. She came to the garden centre to see us, but missed us. Later I drove my friend home then went to Aldi for bits and pieces. I made a chicken casserole for dinner. It'll do me today and tomorrow as well.
Today I'll potter about then visit mum in the late afternoon. I've decided night visiting during winter isn't working for me. The road is very dark, the oncoming lights too bright and I got a fright when I landed in the pothole. Have a good day all
Good morning Mick and all from sunny Berkshire where I am staying with DD in her new flat. We had a good journey down from the north yesterday, even though we had lots of heavy rain. The company made it go quickly.
Today we are off to a farm shop, then lunch. Later we will drive over to Surrey for a meal with my BIL and SIL.
Love the table Mizuna, hope the bugs b****r off quickly Olddudders and you both have a lovely time Urms
Thoughts too to all with worries 🌹
Good morning from a much brighter Staffordshire, where it rained all day,.
Luckily I had booked Bowling for the 3 of us. DGD2 won the first game. After getting in my stride I narrowly won the 2nd! Much discontent as ‘ cannot possibly be beaten by your NAN! ‘
Not sure what we will do today, perhaps pop over to Bridgnorth.
DD is due back around 6pm. Sent some lovely photos of Eiffel Tower all lit up!
Wishing the Urmstons a lovely break in their happy place, much deserved.
So sad to hear of DH’s cousin Monk, life can turn in seconds!
Morning all, haven’t read your news yet.
I just wanted to wish Mr & Mrs Urmstongran a safe journey and a wonderful time in their happy place
Good morning from a dry NE.
Quiet day yesterday, sister and BIL visited for an hour and then I watched Matt Baker programme where he travels with his mum and dad. The programme was about Lindisfarne and brought back lovely memories of my holiday there last year.
Another quiet day today as family are still recuperating from covid.
Hope the Urmstons have a good journey and a wonderful holiday.
Rosiesmaw 💐
Good morning Mick and everyone from bright and dry Carlisle.
Yesterday was lovely weather-wise. After a brief trip to Sainsbury's, I drove down to the garden centre for my 'free' coffee and some more tulip bulbs. I drove home along the country roads, the southeastern bypass works have started now for the next 2 years. At the moment, they are just working at either end of it. The trees are turning the most beautiful colours, almost like an orange tunnel in places along the road.
In the afternoon, I went out and buried my crocus bulbs in the front lawn, 50 of them. It wasn't as onerous a task as I'd thought.
Then I made pizza for dinner. I have the rest of it for lunch and then some local lamb I bought yesterday for dinner. I don't know where supermarkets get theirs from but it's almost a different species of animal from the lovely local meat.
There won't be much activity from me today, I'm going to read the papers and my new book and potter about on the computer.
A beautiful job on that table Mizuna!
Best wishes to Olddudders, hopefully soon on the mend.
And wishing Urms and DH a delightful holiday.
Good morning from what was a brightening Sefton but is now clouding over rather ominously. Rain is not forecast.🤔
An emergency (well OH thought it was) dash to the retail park yesterday for replacement headphones as his had given up the ghost. More time in TKMaxx for me.
Returning to said retail park this morning as he can't get the headphones to work. (No surprise there). Even more time in TKM for me! I have an Argos click & collect parcel which, to my amazement, I can pick up from my very handy, but small, Sainsbury's convenience store. Didn't know this was possible. Rest of the day will no doubt be taken up with the Sunday papers.
Have a wonderful break Urms, just what you both need. 💐for Maw. Thoughts with those of you with worries & struggles.
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s sunny. We will be getting a taxi to Manchester airport at 2pm this afternoon. Off to our ‘happy place’ in Málaga. I’ve checked the weather app and it’s 22°C for the 5 days we will be there. Perfectly lovely weather, a real bonus. We will pace ourselves on this mini break. We plan to factor in rest times during the day as we do here. Keep things on an even keel hopefully. Himself has an aisle seat at the front of the plane with me next to him and we will board last. It will be straight to bed when we get to the apartment as it will be later than we hoped - Mr O’Leary has changed our flight time by 90 minutes. Hey ho.
I still can’t believe we are going - I would not have believed this possible in July/August - we are so very grateful.
Here’s Matt.
x
Maw💐
Grammaretto best of luck with your cataract op tomorrow, our friend has had the two and is very happy.
Good morning from a bright West York's.We have nearly finished clearing the loft can't understand why oh kept all the things up there (I never go up there .) We are both aching but hope to finish today .Hope all poorlies soon feel better.
Maw [flowers}
Good morning, it’s a bright and breezy start to the day after all the rain yesterday. At least the grey gloom has lifted - I hate those days when it never seems to get light.
A lazy day ahead for us, though we might pop into town later for a mooch round and a change of scene.
Hope you all enjoy your day.
Meant to add, have a lovely few days in Malaga Urmstongran and Mr Urms. It should do you both a power of good.
Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞Northampton, dry at last after heavy rain yesterday morning.
It cleared up for my rugby match, and I went home happy as we had a good win against Bath, 24-18. Went right down to the last minute which didn't do my blood pressure any good!
Got a.few WhatsApps during the match regarding my DSis, in hospital with a broken hip and neck. There is no way she will be returning to her own house; she now needs full-time care. My DBrother is driving down to Somerset to see her today (after he's taken morning service at one of his churches), will stay overnight and visit some care homes in Wiltshire tomorrow. She has agreed to move nearer to her elder daughter, which is a good thing. Once she is settled somewhere I hope to visit.
No plans for today, catch up with the weekend newspapers, knitting, watch some tv - a premiership rugby match is on this afternoon; may do some washing. but will use the tumble dryer.
Easy dinner tonight - an M&S Chicken Tikka pie with roast potatoes and veg.
Have a wonderful holiday, Me and Mrs Urms!
Maw, thinking of you today, bittersweet memories.

Maw 💐. Mizuna, lovely table.
Happy holiday, Urms.
Thinking of all poorlies and those with troubles.
Of to cycle through The Archers now.
Just popping in to say
to Maw and wish the Urms a very happy time visiting their 'happy place'.
