Good morning from a dry, breezy Cornwall with a promise of sun later. Today I'll go early to church, when the worship band are rehearsing, taking my paints to touch up and finish labelling the Creation paintings. Here is a photo of the Tintin table as requested plus the book the cartoons came from; an abandoned English/Spanish dictionary I found on the roadside, well past its original use but I didn't want to see it wasted.

Tonight the Fire Brigade will put on our town's huge firework display which attracts thousands. My sons and children will be going but it's a long trek down a muddy lane which my crutches won't take kindly to. A shame I'll miss it but something to look forward to next year.

Glad your appointment went well Mick.

Good morning from a dry Bristol. Itwas vert wet first thing, then cleared and was sunny for the rest of the day. My friend from E Kent called and told me that it was dreadful there - the6 are unused to rain 😁
Safe travel Urms. My heart is full of joy for you and your DH, going to your happy place. I hope the stay is all you wish for. 🫂
A quiet day yesterday, with sewing. Then I started to fiddle around moving some things in readiness for Monday’s workmen.
DD and family came to move boxes of books and “misc” out of the cupboard (whose wall is to be removed) into my tiny spare room. I can foresee a lot of clearing when all is done. They stayed to dinner, eating tortellini and tomato sauce, chi fudge pudding to follow. We played a French game from my teenage years, involving travelling 1000 km. “Mille Bornes” which I translated as “Milestones”. It was fun until Iris threw a ginormous tantrum because she lost. Oh dear!
Church and sorting out today.
May today bring blessing to you all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from s somerset, more rain later for a while but ok for a walk

Lots of standing up yesterday, baking, working at my dining table and tricky pattern prep. I am getting ready to make a parka coat with hood and lining, I am taking my time, tracing from a spaghetti mess of lines, then tracing again and adding seam allowances. Keeps me fully occupied,my mind busy and I have to go slow and be thoughtfully precise. Suits me during these dark months

Have a good day

Good morning everyone from Severnside. It’s getting light with a few stars twinkling and not raining.

I’ve had a good two days getting things I wanted to do done. I hope I carry on as it’s too early in the dark season to do much of sitting about.

Today I’ll carry on with my sewing and make a meal in the slow cooker. I’ve some best before rice to use up so am not buying potatoes until I’ve eaten the rice.

Have a good day all and enjoy your roasts 🌺🌴

Beechnut Sun 05-Nov-23 06:25:43

I like your table Mizuna. It’s nice to have something unusual.

Susan56 Sun 05-Nov-23 06:25:58

Good morning from Shropshire.A dry day forecast.

DD arrived about 10 yesterday to collect the children.H was feeling much better by yesterday evening.DH went back to bed when they left and slept until 5 when he woke feeling very rested!I spent the day doing laundry and cleaning which suited me fine as I like everything shipshape.

Today a few household jobs this morning then a new book to look forward to reading this afternoon.

I’m glad your drs visit was reassuring Mick.

Lovely table Mizuna.DD did a similar one with pictures of Marvel characters for DGS.

I hope olddudders isn’t suffering too much with Covid.

Thoughts to all unwell and with worries and to Auntieflo, Annie and other absent good morningers.

Safe travels to Urms and himself.

Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩

karmalady Sun 05-Nov-23 06:31:36

I like that table very much Mizuna

Hiraeth Sun 05-Nov-23 06:32:03

Urms have a great holiday with your husband . You’ve both been through so much this year and if it makes Mr.Urms happy that’s wonderful . Life is precious .

Ashcombe Sun 05-Nov-23 06:39:51

Good morning from a cooler, windy Torbay.

olddudders has had a terrible night. He has a cough that prevents sleep so opted for the recliner, partly so he could use his laptop if sleep eluded him, without disturbing me. He’s remarkably chirpy this morning, considering he hasn’t slept much.

Safe travels and happy landings, Urmstongran. Just what you both need! 😎
A clever idea, Mizuna, for an original table! Some clever ladies with impressive craft skills on here.

I’m avoiding church today just in case I’m incubating Covid. Thank you, Susan56 for your good wishes and others who posted yesterday.

A blessed Sunday to all. 🦩🥰✝️💐🦩

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 05-Nov-23 07:01:29

Morning all from West Oxfordshire
Safe travels Urms and Mr Urms. Have a wonderful time!
I had a great time in London yesterday. St James Palace is fascinating and the guide was excellent.
I let the cats sleep on my bed last night because of the fireworks. I was woken at one point by by Milo simultaneously snoring and purring!
Church this morning and then a quiet day.

Gingster Sun 05-Nov-23 07:06:06

Good morning all and another fitful night.😤. My mind just won’t keep still.

I love that table Mizuna and so well done. What a good idea!

Safe and troublefree journey Urms.✈️. Have a restful time. ❤️.

Poor Oldduders . Hope you don’t catch it Ash.

I’ll take little DGD for her swimming lesson this morning and hopefully bring Dd back here for the day. 🤞.

I had a long chat to my bestie on the phone yesterday. How can we talk for so long - I’d only spent all day before with her! 😉.

No rain forecast for today.

Enjoy the day 🌻

Jaxjacky Sun 05-Nov-23 07:09:17

Good morning Mick and all from a not raining S Hampshire, it bucketed down last evening, didn’t seem to hinder the many firework displays we heard.
Good your appointment went well Mick.
I’d be a wet rag Ashcombe hopefully oldudders starts improving today.
I made stuffing for Christmas yesterday, lots of it, all in the freezer now.
I will walk today, no rain forecast, Saturday’s paper to read properly, meat draw, then pork steaks in bbq sauce for dinner.
Urmstongran I hope you both have a wonderful break to your second home, solace for body and soul.

Pittcity Sun 05-Nov-23 07:26:30

Good morning from Colchester. There's been rain overnight but a dry day is forecast.
This is good news for the huge fireworks display that will take place in the park adjoining our estate. Some of the family will pop over to watch from the end of our road to avoid paying the extortionate entry fee.
Love to all 🦩 x

ginny Sun 05-Nov-23 07:28:13

Good morning to you all. Haven’t looked outside yet.
This morning we are having coffe with our good friends who live just around the corner.
No lunch required as all the family is meeting mid afternoon for Son in Laws birthday meal in a local pub. His actual birthday isn’t until next Friday but they will be celebrating with his side of the family then.

ginny Sun 05-Nov-23 07:29:14

Posted too soon!
We may go to the fireworks with family brooks , depending on the weather.
A good day wished for all.

luluaugust Sun 05-Nov-23 07:30:24

Good morning from a damp W Kent. DS, DIL and GD1 coming for some lunch today. I think the preparation and clearing up will probably fill the day.
Have a happy time Urms
Hope Oldduders improves soon and you don’t get it Ash
Best wishes to all

cornergran Sun 05-Nov-23 07:31:51

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset looks dry. Wonderful

Mr C enjoyed his breakfast yesterday, very smug as my fears about the roads were proved to be unfounded. An enjoyable walk afterwards in sunshine but goodness, it hammered down on the way home. Had to pull in, too much for the wipers.

Hope to get outside this morning and remove some overgrown plants. It will be muddy for sure. Not sure what else today as I slept little.

That sounds a reassuring visit mick. Get well wishes to your husband ash. Interesting and fun table mizuma, I’d never have thought to do it. Safe landings urms. The warmth and sunshine will be wonderful.

Have the best day you can everyone.

RosiesMaw Sun 05-Nov-23 07:45:23

Good morning from N Bucks where it is brightening by the minute!
I love your découpage Mizuna , so original and doubly nice because you used something which would otherwise have been destroyed.
My sympathies to your DH Ashcombe , he sounds proper poorly. Good that you are here to look after him, as long as you don’t succumb too. Living alone I have often wondered how I would cope if I caught Covid but 🤞🤞 I have swerved it so far.
I’m sure Rosie would sympathise but I don’t know how I would walk her, but, sufficient unto the day etc etc etc
I am so glad you are still in touch with your Kent friends, GrandMattie it’s hard when you move , despite all the FaceTime/emails/phones in the world, we still miss them. Now my sympathies also to Iris - we had a similar reaction on Thursday from GS2 who is in all other sports an outstanding athlete - just not bowling. May I draw your attention to the screenshot of the leaderboard? Never mind that Granny had “bumpers” , but as they say in France “quand même”. grin
Today it is exactly 6 years since the last “normal” day Paw and I spent together. An early MRI at the Royal Free, but back in time for lunch and a quiet and pleasant afternoon with the Sunday papers, books, a bit of tv, enjoying “companionable silence”
A heavy fall in the bathroom the next morning, a long wait on the floor for an ambulance, A&E, admission to hospital and it was downhill until he slipped peacefully away 4 days later with those he loved around him.
So a very special day with precious memories.
I hope it is a peaceful and pleasant day for you all and that any furries frightened of fireworks will be spared the loudest bangs.

Marydoll Sun 05-Nov-23 07:56:46

Good morning all from a dry Glasgow, where it is 5°C.

Yesterday turned out to be an unexpectedly lovely day. I felt so awful initially, I did a Covid test. Thankfully it was -ve. Whew!
First thing we got a video message from a very poorly wee Dollie, who had been up all night vomiting. 😪
Later I manged to get on top of all the parish admin and updated the website, my head was spinning.
I overdid it and was lying down, when I received a message from DS to say they were popping in with Babydoll. Great joy!
They stayed on, after DH went to the Vigil Mass ( I didn't feel too great), so I had her all to myself! 😍 She has started to recognise us, my heart just melted.

This morning I am going to try and go down to church to catch up with people. I am going to dope myself up with anti nausea meds, in the hope I can get through the morning. It's been five weeks since I have been stuck in and things are piling up, including some firm words with a parish group, with my Safeguarding hat on.
This time of the year is always busy with audits etc. I have three waiting to be done. ☹

I got a message from our young sacristan to say our senior sacristan had left him in the lurch, so I am going to give him some moral support, because he sounded quite anxious. He is on the autistic spectrum and sometime likes me too be there. He does a fantastic job, but has been asked to do too much today.
DH is happy I am going out, but a bit apprehensive I will over do things.

I hope OldD isn't too unwell. Wise decision Ash not to go to church.
Brilliant table Mizuna Any attempts I have made at depoucage have been a disaster!
Safe journey to the Urms.

Love to all!

Good morning all from cloudy South Lanarkshire.

I’m sitting upright in bed having taken my medication and counting the minutes till I can have my coffee.

Yesterday afternoon we minded DD’s new puppy and one child while the rest of the family were out. Our poor daft dug was demented by the exuberance of the little pup, we spent most of the time keeping them away from each other until the puppy took herself off to her basket to sleep much to the relief of daft dug.

Quiet day today, brunch at the cafe after Mass then home where I really must do a wardrobe/shoe declutter.

Thinking of those who are ill and wishing Urms and her dear man a happy holiday.

RosesandLilac Sun 05-Nov-23 08:03:37

Good morning everyone, it’s bright here on the edge of the Cotswolds, but dark clouds are moving towards us.
A poignant day for you RosiesMaw, sending hugs to you and those needing love today.
Yesterday I spent several hours rearranging the kitchen as I tidied up from getting back from holiday, it looks much better. I finished the washing and everything put away by lunchtime so had a quiet afternoon.
Today a roast for dinner, dog walks and reading the papers.
I hope you all have a peaceful day 🌹

monk08 Sun 05-Nov-23 08:03:52

Good morning all from the Black country after yesterday's nonstop rain the sun is shining so washing is on.
Safe travels Urms and himself enjoy the break in your happy place.
Had some sad news yesterday regarding DH cousin you may remember he collapsed in the garden on the grass nearly 6mths ago lost use of legs and arms, he has been told he will never walk again he has some use in his hands but very limited how life can change from just a fall.
Have a lovely Sunday all whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

brook2704 Sun 05-Nov-23 08:11:13

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry with light grey clouds
Sorry that hear olddudders had a bad night Ash hope he improves soon
Rosies 💐
Safe travels to Mr &Mrs Urms take care and enjoy every minute
I’m hopefully having a catch up call with DS this morning but other than that I’ve nothing else planned today day. I’m going carry on with tidying up the garden if it stays dry, there’s always lots to do.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Stilllearning Sun 05-Nov-23 08:14:05

Morning from South Lanarkshire, only 5 degrees but dry and sun promised for later.

I too wish you and Himself a lovely holiday Urms, I think it makes us all happy to think of you back in your ‘place in the sun’.

I watched the first episode of the Netflix adaptation of ‘All the Light you cannot see’ last night, but I’m not sure the essence of the book can be expressed visually so I think I’ll just leave it.

Church this morning, a prearranged coffee call with a friend, then a late lunch and overnight stay with DD2 and family, all of which I’m looking forward to. Still struggling with my hearing though so I’ll have to concentrate and not be too irritating with requests for repeats! Old age etc…

Wishing everyone a good Sunday.
