Viva Las Vegas brings back happy childhood memories of watching endless Elvis films over the xmas school holidays.

A Little Less Conversation, Elvis v Jxl is always on my playlist, even as i chop and change with other music.

He really was stunning in his youth. I loved Blue Moon and Are You Lonesome Tonight.

Are You Lonesome Tonight

Oh yes, one of the tracks of my years 🙂

‘Always on my mind’ for me. 😢

I like the one where he mixes the Battle Hymn of the Republic with Glory Hallelujah also" You were always on my mind".

I never really liked Elvis, never bought any of his records.

Wasn't really a big Elvis fan but my DD and her husband chose "The Wonder Of You" and I thought the lyrics were lovely.

My DH and I had Home is where the heart is. ( and my heart is anywhere you are) for our song.

My 40 year old DD2 always says he was ‘indecently beautiful’. As a young man, he really was.

I too like many Elvis songs but the one that is special to me is I just want to be your teddy bear. My dear mum used to sing it to me when I was small and I remember she used to clown around pretending to play a guitar a la Elvis!

Love so many but particularly Blue Christmas, Heartbreak Hotel & Jailhouse Rock followed by A Little Less Conversation, like the updated version too.
A lesser known one would be Its Only Love and for a Gospel song How Great Though Art. I Love his version of Bridge Over Troubled Water. Loads more I could mention but I’ll stop there smile

Old Shep.....can still move me to tears...

Really can't pick one favourite, but the one I distinctly remember hearing as a child was It's Now or Never.
It's now or never, come hold me tight,
Kiss me my darling, be mine tonight.
I was 10 years old and thought that sounded so dramatic and romantic.

Luckynan Sun 12-Nov-23 17:18:35

Listened to an Elvis song on You Tube the other day that I’d never heard before.
It was called “ Fool”. Absolutely loved it.

Oreo Sun 12-Nov-23 17:02:36

Long, long before my time but obvs have heard quite a few of his songs. No fave one but It’s Now Or Never is a good one.

I love so many Elvis sings that I can't choose a particular favourite. I do like that recording of him bursting out laughing while singing, 'Are you lonesome tonight'. So funny. So real somehow.

Oh yes, loved it!

Blue Suede Shoes
Heartbreak Hotel
Etc etc etc!!

'You Were Always On My Mind'
That has to be sung by Willie Nelson for me.

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 12-Nov-23 15:10:24

Always on my mind.

Squiffy Sun 12-Nov-23 15:04:16

Sparkle, yes, In the Ghetto for me, too. The words, absolutely heartbreaking. I heard on the radio that it was Elvis’s favourite song.

maytime2 Sun 12-Nov-23 14:20:47

A song that is hardly ever heard is Young and Beautiful from the film Jailhouse Rock. Elvis sang the song to his girl friend in the film. Judy Tyler, who was killed in a car crash shortly after the film's release. Apparently this upset Elvis so much that he never wanted to sing the song again.

Biscuitmuncher Sun 12-Nov-23 14:09:38

Suspicious minds and guitar man

Calendargirl Sun 12-Nov-23 13:56:28

‘Always On My Mind’ and ‘The Girl Of My Best Friend’.

The latter one so poignant and true for so many people, I think.
