Your favourite Elvis song

So many great songs. What a voice he had!

For me it has to be How Great Thou Art.

I think Wooden Heart and also Jailhouse Rock were embedded in my little brain from it being on the radio (which was on in the kitchen for most of the day) plus the singles that were “stacked”on the radiogram after a Saturday morning shopping spree. With three older teenage siblings I was exposed to a very diverse range of music from being a toddler.
Elvis in white spangly cat-suit mode never really appealed to me in the 70s but his original “Heartbreak Hotel” and “That’s Alright Mama” have a unique sound that I appreciate more now.😊

He was a very striking looking man, and it was a shame to see his deterioration, and how he ended up.
I think it was his last recorded performance l saw,he was sat at a piano singing and it really upset me to see him, a travesty of his former self…
I think Tom Parker had lots to do with Elvis‘s declining health he just wouldn’t let him stop working from what I’ve read and seen, so he would take drugs to keep him awake and other drugs to allow him to sleep. Such a very sad end to a great singer..😪

The Elvis and Priscilla film sounds like a load of rubbish, and I certainly won't be watching it.

I’m not an Elvis fan, but I think my favourite song of his is Suspicion. Great instrumental riff behind his vocal.

I remember liking Return to Sender when it came out and wondered then what “no such zone” could mean!

Yesterday I watched some of "Elvis and Priscilla" on Amazon Prime, Wish I hadn't. There were interviews with Elvis during his Army days and around that time when he started dating Priscilla who was only 14. In his own words he says that it's good to have a very young girlfriend because then he can "train her" to be the way he likes .... and train her he did, from dictating her hairstyles, clothes, etc. It would be called coercive control these days.

Their daughter, Lisa Marie, was born 9 months after the wedding and Elvis told Priscilla he didn't want to make love to a girl/woman who had given birth to a baby so that was that!

I still like his music and his fantastic voice, and he was drop dead gorgeous when he was young, but I now know things about him that I wish I didn't.

I love anytime Elvis took to a ballad 🥰 or even a hymn...

Well, perhaps you should take this up with Priscilla rather than with me.

Elvis did not, of course, go without sex if that's what you're thinking because he slept with many of his leading ladies, fans and groupies from long before he met Priscilla and right until the end of his life.

She would know but that doesn't make it true. She is making a living from being his wife and Elvis isn't here to confirm anything she says. I'm always doubtful of personal stories from 50 plus years ago that cannot be confirmed.
