List of how many tins/toilet rolls etc we get though per year

Cabbie and George’sgran - since the passing of your DHs , I suppose your income has also been halved ? All things considered, I’m sure you’ll give anything to have your DHs back….

I’m an excessive loo roll user!!
I use it for all sorts of things, as well as the obvious, so I order them from Amazon - a pack of 60 every time.
Like Cabbie21, since DH died, my spending on food etc, is less than 50% of what it used to be, despite increased prices.

I have no idea how many toilet rolls, tea bags or tins of soup I buy per year. I do know how much I spend each week on food and household goods, and it is much less than 50% of what we spent when DH was alive., even though costs of items have risen.

Not tins or toilet rolls, but this somehow reminded me of the days before computerised car systems. We had a very old Austin Countryman and kept a little notebook and pen in the glove compartment and noted down the date, mileage and how much petrol we bought every time we filled up at the garage. There was also no radio or cassette player (remember those?) so I sat with a radio on my lap with an extendable ariel and had to keep turning it round to catch the reception!

Oh, those were the days!

I have a rough idea only because they come up as favourites on the supermarket delivery and if I haven't bought anything for a while there is a section that says you might like to remind you.

No, I don't keep lists but I do know that we usually bought 3 1 kg packets of coffee beans a month and used two of them before the start of the next month, a pack of 20 toilet rolls a month, a litre bottle of olive oil every second month, 4 x 200 g of butter a month 3 packets of yeast, 3 or 4 kgs of flour, 30 eggs 4 x 12 pouches of cat food and 1 kg packet or 2 of dry cat food (for two cats) and approx. 6 kilos of potatoes.

Other staples like basmati rice - 6 kg a year or thereabouts. Same of lentils, pudding rice approx 3 kg a year, 1½ kg mince a month, 3-4 400 g packets of bacon a month, perhaps 2 kgs of sausages a month.

Shall I continue?

I thought everyone knew approximately how much food, cleaning agents etc. they bought a month!

why?

A lot of stuff we know how often we buy so can take a guess. But I'm not sure what that would tell us.

Are you interested in the amount of glass/tins rather than what they contain?

We inherited an electric fire years ago when my in-laws moved house. My father in law had stuck a label inside the cover which he had filled in with the brand of bulb, dates and left or right (it had two bulbs) every time he changed a bulb, for about 15 years. No idea why, they weren’t short of money, I think some people just enjoy the detail.
