Good Morning Everyone,
A dark, dry and what seems to be less windy start here in brackley this morning.
Today I will do Bicester on the bus and plan to return via Buckingham using the X5 service and have a lunch in a cafe there .
Otherwise return home later ,and relax.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning to you all.

We have a much better day today, much calmer and brighter. Yesterday afternoon the wind became very strong and then by early evening the rain was hammering down to join it. However, everything in the garden seems unscathed other than a plant needs uprighting having blown over.

Safe journeys to all of you on your travels.

14th December have I slept? It’s oldest sons birthday today he says he feels old so do I! Kitchen still in disarray but getting there needed a new one but oh the upheaval! Can’t get chrismassy yet till this is all done. Have a good day all!

Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire, currently 10°C and raining.

The severe weather duly arrived yesterday. Lashing rain and the wind blowing a hoolie kept us indoors, only a few cars ventured across the bridge and the tree opposite our house has developed a lean to the left. Much like the opinion polls at the moment. Back to normal levels of wind and rain today, no weather warnings in place. Hope those of you who have been hit by far worse weather than us are safe and well.

The date on the thread gave me a start too, it’s my late mother’s birthday and was a special family day. I quickly realised it must be a typo and was hugely relieved to realise I haven’t lost all my marbles yet …

Have a good day and stay safe if you’re out and about 🌹

Thank you Marydoll you have added an L to my username. I will see what I can do. I haven’t posted for a week or two as have not had a lot happening. After the virus I had my energy levels have been low and the cough although getting better is still there.but I read your posts everyday. I have however been reading a series of Lynda la Plante books which I have enjoyed. I think I just need to give myself a good shake and get on with things. I always find it difficult in November it is so “grey”. I need a project!!

Good Morning, the watery sun is blinking cautiously over the garden ! I don’t give much for its chances today 🙄
Successful shopping yesterday, seven sets of pyjamas bought ! It is a daft tradition I started years ago , I bought Christmas pjs for the grandchildren from our local shopping chain , they stock different stuff from their local shops
The Eldest is nearly 21 , but he protests if I suggest dropping the tradition
Today is a recovery day 🤣
Thoughts and 🕯️s for you , and you and you !

Just noticed I’ve missed a whole month! No wonder I’m feeling tired.

Marydoll Tue 14-Nov-23 09:28:46

It didn't work GM. sad. Perhaps she has left.

Marydoll Tue 14-Nov-23 09:25:09

That's it, thanks!!! I am not very bright these days!!!

Grandmabatty Tue 14-Nov-23 09:24:29

Marydoll I thought it was Scapa1?

I have been trying to PM Scalpal to alert her to the meet up, but have obviously got her user name wrong.
If you are reading this, you are very welcome to join us.

Very wet with the odd flash of lightning so a quick dash to the supermarket and then an indoor day. Must try on clothes and find something to wear to DGD1’s 21st birthday bash at the weekend so am hoping something will look right. No time to buy anything new.

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s raining again after a very stormy day yesterday. The road to town is closed with flooding so a day of crafting with a zoom call instead of a coffee with a fellow trustee.
It’s History Society this evening but will see if the road is open before I decide whether to go.
Have a good day everyone.

Marydoll Tue 14-Nov-23 08:53:42

Glesca Grannies alert.

I have posted in Meet ups about a possible lunch.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. I got a jolt when I saw ‘December’ *Mick! Phew. Still plenty of time then to procrastinate.

It’s dry here. We have absolutely no plans so a restful, relaxed day is on the cards. Himself will go down to our larder later when we decide what we’d like to eat this evening. It’s nice to hand those reins back. I have the arduous task of writing the shopping lists once more.

Here’s Matt.

Good morning all from a very soggy Glasgow where the lashing rain has just stopped.

A quick change of bedroom for DH yesterday as the lovely young female Sky engineer warned us that she was about to drill through our thick outside wall to hard wire the Sky cube in what is now his bedroom as opposed to relying on WiFi. Success. Guaranteed F1 viewing for the weekend.
An at home day today with a fair bit of admin to attend too.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day.

Georgesgran Tue 14-Nov-23 08:45:49

My post has been lost! How does that happen?
Well, it was only a good morning from a wet Durham. The forecast is dire.
My sore throat is a bit worse - possibly a cold on its way.
Perhaps GN office will change the date - it really is still November!
Off out for coffee with a friend this morning, then I’ll do a few things while I’m out afterwards.
Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from an as yet sunny Suffolk. High winds yesterday resulted in the garden, grass( I hesitate to say lawns)patio and drive being thickly carpeted in leaves.

Today I think DH and I might go to Snape Maltings as we have vouchers to spend which are getting to their expiry dates. They were a Christmas present last year and we had completely forgotten about them. A good pub there for lunch and a lovely walk towards Iken will complete our day hopefully with sun all the way.

Hope there is a little sunshine in everyone’s day.

Greyduster Tue 14-Nov-23 08:23:49

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a dry, calm South Yorkshire. Yesterday the sun came out but the wind was hurling furniture and planters round the patio! I spent the afternoon making soup. No idea what is on the agenda today other than a visit from the chiropodist - I had a broken night anyway.
Ash safe travels to Olddudders.
Mizuna well done to your son for finding the owner of the medals. That will have been one very happy chap.
Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning everyone from a greyish Northampton, 9°C outside, but sunny spells are forecast. Shall change the bedding this morning before an early lunch, then out to join my health walk group.

Had some sad news yesterday which shocked me. An email arrived from the son of my best friend from college days (mid 1960s) telling me that his father had died suddenly and unexpectedly of a stroke. My friend died two years ago, her husband had been her first and only boyfriend and they had been inseparable. I had known him as long as I had known her. Another link from the past gone.....

My DSis is still in hospital in Somerset, recovering well from her fall (broken hip and neck), and my brother informed me yesterday that a suitable care home had been found for her in Wiltshire, a couple of miles away from her eldest daughter. She has been assessed, and the home seems a good fit for her. A transfer date is yet to be fixed, so hopefully she will soon be settled, safe, and well looked after.

Must get moving or I shall never get anything done!
RosiesMaw, a busy but interesting day ahead.
Hope everyone's day goes to plan.

hollysteers Tue 14-Nov-23 08:22:26

Good morning Mick and all from a damp northwest coast.
I did a big shop yesterday and my back really complained about it. I have a stretchy back support, but forget to use it. Nice to have the freezer, fridge and cupboard stocked again.

It was very wild weather to be out in and I postponed my trip for lunch in the cafe in the pretty park in the next village and opted for Morrison’s cafe which I never go to. I ordered mini fish and chips and it was one of the most disgusting meals I have ever had. Hard batter and hardly warm. Such a depressing place. A one off for sure.
Music club today after an absence of a couple of weeks.
Have a good journey Olddudders, glad things seem to be working out grandMattie and thoughts to anyone with troubles 🌺

GrannyGravy13 Tue 14-Nov-23 08:18:53

Morning all, we have a yellow weather warning up till lunchtime!
I have parted company with my cleaning fairies, various reasons unreliability included 😡. So I am cleaning bathrooms today, mammogram this afternoon, then it’s picking up The Imp and 8yr old for their swimming lessons.

Lovely picture of BabyDoll, MaryDoll

Safe journey OD

Have a great day folks 🦩🙋‍♀️

I forgot to mention that after my rant to Scottish Gas on Saturday, regarding our intention to contact the Ombusdsnan, the CEO of Centrica and our MSP yesterday, about the absolute incompetency of Scottish Gas, DH checked our account to find we are £17,000 in credit!. 🤣
We have even paid that in DDs.

The next stage of the battle today's task!

keepcalmandcavachon Tue 14-Nov-23 08:09:26

Good morning all, gosh it feels tempting to stay in! Home is feeling very 'bare' after taking down the last of the Autumn decor , have left a few fairy lights up to tide me over till Christmasgrin
Hope everyone has a safe good day x

Grammaretto Tue 14-Nov-23 08:07:08

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Catching a bus into town soon for a class I've enrolled in. It's on Pictish art. Nothing as modern as the Glasgow Boys/Girls Maw. grin I hope yours goes well.

Then I'm meeting my new Helper at a bus stop and bringing her here.
Tonight I'm out again to my Gaelic class.
What can possibly go wrong!
I wasn't expecting this new girl until tomorrow but she asked to come a day early. Her bedding is getting wet on the line where I left it overnight to dry.hmm

I'm glad the plumber worked so hard for you Mattie . I hoped ours would come yesterday but he had to attend a gas leak. There's a problem in the heating system. I hope he can fix it soon.

Have the best day you can everyone.
