Whereabouts in the sky? I have restricted views..!

It’s the Leonids. I’m travelling up to Northumberland tomorrow so, if the sky is clear I’m in for a treat!

I have never seen a shooting star, mainly because I have always been very short-sighted and even with glasses people would say "OH, look at that" and I would not be able to see a thing.

I have had cataracts removed but still never seen one - optician said it is the astigmatism that gets in the way and I am unlikely ever to see one. sad

When I was a little girl my Dad and I wrapped ourselves up well and laid down on the lawn to watch the Leonids as there was supposed to be a spectacular display that year. We saw about 3 meteorites before we got cold and went back indoors.
I usually try to see them, but I've never been very lucky.

When I was still working I used to crawl into work bleary eyed because I’d stayed up all night watching the Perseids. I still saw them even though I’m surrounded by trees and there’s light pollution here. But if I’m in Northumberland there’s no light pollution: unfortunately it quite often gets cloudy at the wrong time. You have to get your eyes accustomed to the dark which takes a while and then try to look at the sky without focussing. I’m rarely in the right place at the right time so I’m hopeful about this weekend!

We saw some up in the country one clear night. There were so many stars, incredible. Pollution is a bad thing down in the cities and the worst thing is that terrible red glow you can get. We live on the edge of the country but still don’t get to see those things so much .

Damn. It was cloudy at midnight. I woke up in the early hours and the sky was clear so I pulled the curtains back to watch the stars. But I must have fallen straight back asleep because next thing I knew it was 8 o’clock sad

Just heard a shooting star at 4 in the morning. Think it was a firework
