No, fortunately I will be staying nicely tucked up at home for Christmas. No long journeys for me, lol!

Here in Germany the train services are so bad these days that, as much as we would like to go by train, we are going by car to visit out son. Fortunately it looks like the weather will be clement and there is no danger of flooding or black ice.

Very rarely use public transport, make our own private arrangements, meaning we go by car, works better for us. We can’t even plan a trip into London these days because there might be a train strike, so if we go, we go in the car and pay the congestion and parking charges.
We’ll be using aeroplanes when we fly to New Zealand to see our daughter and children at the end of December. Does that count?

Not likely! Too many other people cluttering up airports, etc. Too high a risk of strikes.

Of course. Going by train to visit family. Wouldn’t go if we had to drive!

To paraphrase Jeremy Clarkson, I would rather crawl on my hands and knees with my family on my back than use public transport.

I'll be enjoying the trains of GB in the next few days. It's a bit too far to take coaches in my opinion. It's often interesting?! over the festive period but hey I'm made of sturdy stuff.

Wheniwasyourage Jeremy was actually talking about his family having to ride in a people carrier when they first came out, but I think he would also agree with me about some public transport these days!

Ah, ok. On the other hand, at least on public transport if something breaks down it’s up to someone else to fix it, whereas if you’re driving, it’s up to you!
