Good Morning Everyone,
Dark and dry outside here in brackley and no doubt cold as well here in brackley this morning.
Today , my usual routine is broken as I am going on a day trip by coach to a Xmas lunch and to see a duo perform Beatles songs , which also includes Tea or Coffee ,a quiz, and raffle this based at a Hotel just off M40 at Warwick ,Longbridge roundabout , I went to a similar show a few years back before Covid at a hotel then near Berkswell near Coventry which has since closed.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from cool and pleasant s somerset

I need to get changed, I have to pick up a heavy load of fuel, I wasn`t going to buy it but decided that it could be neccessary for cold nights, it keeps the fire going for longer than logs.

The fridge contains veg soup and salad stuff, ready to use, so no thoughts of cooking for a couple of days but I will be shredding paper to feed my compost worms and it will help to keep them cosy.

My candles in storm lanterns are now out of the cupboard, ready for cosiness and Dutch niksen. I have placed whatever online order I was going to place and treated myself to a 2.3 litre cast iron casserole. Hibernating time is rapidly approaching

Have a good day

Have a lovely weekend Liberty.

Grammaretto Fri 24-Nov-23 08:30:50

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. I had a fitful sleep between coughing bouts. Exhausting. I've called off my volunteer shop shift this morning but still have to help set up our Christmas market.

Oh Ash that news must have come as a shock but let's hope it doesn't impact on your life too much.

Well done Marydoll you are officially a geek a very nice geek

Oh the joy of having your first shower gMattie grin

It's dull weather but I have enjoyed watching long tailed tits in the silver birch outside my window. Now since my cataract operation I can see them again

Have a good day everyone.

GrannySomerset Fri 24-Nov-23 08:38:07

After a useful shopping trip yesterday I only have oldies’ coffee morning and getting kitchen and sitting room ready for ceiling repainting over the weekend. Once that is done I just await the return of the workings of the grandfather clock and we are done with repairs and improvements - I devoutly hope! I will definitely be spent up by then but feel the house will be in a satisfactory state for now.

Good to see Marydoll sounding more like her competent self, sorry Gramaretto is under the weather, and hope gMattie is enjoying her revamped home.

Good morning Mick. Good morning all from Cheshire, a few grey clouds but lots of blue sky behind.
I’m sure you enjoyed the luxury of your very own shower Mattie. Final hurdle for you.
Our bookcase was finished yesterday which completes our little flat. Last packing boxes were disposed of, feet up now.
Bit of a shock for you Ash but sounds as though you’re getting the best of care.
My Grandfather had a warehouse in Matthew Street Holly, he did take me in to the Cavern out of hours occasionally to watch rehearsals, I saw the Beatles a few times but at twelve years old wasn’t too bothered. Preferred going to Goodison Park with my father.
Bit of food shopping to be done today, whisky cake in Aldi is naughty but nice, very nice in fact.
Wishing you all the best day

At this time of year BlueSapphire I always think ‘keeeeep dancing’ when I read your posts.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a calmer Carlisle. The cloud is breaking up and we may actually get to see some sun. I hear it's going to get colder and frostier. I don't really mind as long as we get sun with it. Cold weather is a good excuse to buy another sweater!
Today, more clothes in the washer, some admin to sort and then it's play time!

I hope your tests are reassuring Ashcombe. I second keeping your travel insurers informed. I had my holiday insurance suspended back in the summer as I had to await tests for a possible new condition. I believe all insurance companies do that.

Have a good day everyone and wishing all poorlies better times.

Good morning from a dull and chilly Essex coast.

I finally managed to get an appointment at the surgery for 10.38 this morning. DH will take me and bring me back before he goes off to his precious boat.

I hope all goes well for you Ash, a bit of a shock.

We are going to a quiz night this evening, hopefully the brain cells will work ok. We both enjoy a quiz.

Have a pleasant day everyone xx

Good morning all from dull, blustery N Bucks.
Kicked out of bed by the hungry hound I decided to have tea sitting up downstairs instead of going back to bed and am also plugged into my Shiatsu back massager as my back is playing up. Too much sitting down I think.
I met up with D1 at Hotel Chocolat as planned yesterday and survived a (kindly intentioned) lecture on my (lack of ) personal fitness and whether or not I have a “plan” for the coming years. Honestly!
I think it was prompted by her in-laws’ decision to move from their very conveniently placed house (nice village on the outskirts of Nottingham, easy to manage immaculate garden, bus route etc) to a retirement flat somewhere closer to town. Well at 80+ they are 5-7 years older than me for a start and long since given up driving any further than locally! So I told her that I, my NDN (18 months older than me) neighbour opposite (10 years older) friend diagonally opposite on the Green, 6 years older than me , all plan to toddle on, all looking out for each other, until we feel we can’t -so there!
So I then got the “look after your health, get fitter (as I get breathless eg walking up hill) etc etc” - and this from a woman with a sprained ankle from going for a run after dropping GD at school!
I rest my case!
Does anybody else have to put up with this? She means well, but can’t resist trying to organise me - I wonder who she gets that from blushblushblush
Wishing you all a peaceful and pleasant Friday

GrannySomerset Fri 24-Nov-23 09:14:39

I too have a well intentioned daughter who actually doesn’t know me nearly as well as she imagines. I use the technique which she was so good at in her younger days - “yes darling” and take no notice. Works a treat.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. We are both enjoying TIB at present. It’s dry & sunny out. Probably chilly as it’s 5°C out - quite a drop in temperature forecast for this weekend. We’ve the heating on low here. Will switch it off in a minute. We might walk through the park this afternoon for coffee at the Friday ‘drop in’ session in the Macmillan Centre. Last week’s session did us both good. Being part of a group makes us feel less alone with the scariness of this diagnosis. Everyone there has a story to share.

Here’s Matt.

Good morning from a still windy NE.
Dustbin was emptied very early so had to go out and bring it in before the wind blew it down the street.
I am going out for lunch with my friend, a gastropub which is new to us. Her DH drops us off and picks us up again, lovely man, well he is DDH's cousin.
What a shock Ashcombe, probably the last thing you thought of.
You all sound very active today, have a good day.

Georgesgran Fri 24-Nov-23 09:55:31

Another late good morning from Durham. A cold, crisp start to a cold, crisp spell, so says my iPhone weather App.
I’ve dropped my car off for a service/whatever is making the dashboard light up! I’m assured it’s not serious - I’ve heard that before, so not holding my breath!
I’ve only had a brief read, but a shock for Ash. I hope Mick enjoys his day and how lovely to read a novella from a much more upbeat Marydoll - but remember not to overdo it. Always a thought to spare for Urms and himself.
RM I have a lovely friend, a year younger than me and her bossy daughter has told her that in the New Year she intends to hire a skip and clear her house! I should add this house is immaculate, well maintained and decorated, no clutter and only the best of everything. What a cheek! My DDs say I use way too much salt - I agree, but it’s my life.
So, I’ll continue to collect up leaves today, sort out my Christmas list, possibly start my Christmas cards and finish off DD2’s laundry - one load plus ironing left to do. Hopefully, the car will be ready later.
Best wishes to all. X

A quick morning all from London. I dropped granddaughter at school in Kew and got the tube to South Kensington. I’ve just finished a breakfast of eggs Benedict at Carluccios and am about to pop over to the V&A. There are two exhibitions to see - Diva and Chanel.
Have a good day!

Morning, everyone. It’s ages since I posted on here but I’m always dashing about trying to get my ducks in a row and forget.

I loved your posts, Maw and Granny Sometset. I’m in the same boat!

I love the fact that I’ve moved 10 mins away from DD but of course seeing more of her means she keeps an eye on me (and some!)

I spent yesterday morning with an allotment buddy, pruning an overgrown pear tree. He even managed the ladder!! 😮😮 We did a good job!

The photos I took for our group chat were also so I could prove to DD that there are other ways to keep fit than going to the gym and walking your legs off! No offence to walkers intended. 😂

It’s lovely that they worry about us but I also belong to the, ‘Yes Darling’ brigade. 😇

Hope everyone has the best day possible!

Good morning Mick and all from a beautifully sunny - but very windy - Angus coast. Enjoy your trip Mick, sounds good. Glad you enjoyed your 'first' shower grandmattie. Ash sorry you had such a shock, but I'm sure all will be clarified and controlled quickly. It's amazing what opticians and dentists can discover routinely.
Thank you all for your kind congratulations yesterday. The proud grandparents met him yesterday, so I saw more photos. He is, as you will all understand, the most beautiful, perfect baby etc etc 😉
After tai chi yesterday I went along to the hotel and booked our Christmas lunch. It's getting closer!
I've been getting so much enjoyment from watching the antics of the birds at the bird table - they're eating me out of suet balls and home! A cheeky sparrow hawk came and sat in the nearby jasmine and honeysuckle covering of the oil tank yesterday, no doubt thinking Christmas had come early. I disabused him of that idea and I haven't seen him back since! Which doesn't mean he's not around of course
Now off I must go - amazing how much energy one gets from a sunny morning!
Enjoy your day to the best of your ability everyone - and I hope your crutches were returned suitably lengthened Mizuna x

Good morning all from a beautiful sunny morning in Glasgow, albeit, chilly it’s better than grey skies and rain.

After years of one day rolling into another, I am back to TGIF mode which means the weekend is free from receiving/ making phone calls, mostly on DH’s behalf or attending to my to do list of small maintenance jobs required, at the weekend, I can enjoy the calmness of two days off.

Enjoy the day all whether it’s a busy one or a calm one. Thoughts to those with worries and struggles.

Grandmachrisy47 Fri 24-Nov-23 11:11:34

Good (late) morning from a dry, bright and cold Co Durham.
Your day trip sounds good mick glad you’re on the home straight, grandmattie hope we get pictures. Nasty shock, Ash hope you get answers soon. *Marydoll, pleased to read your upbeat post, you’re an inspiration. I’ve no plans (again) for today. I seem to have lost my ‘get up and go’.
Our DD2 forgets how ancient we are and expects us to have unlimited energy 😀. The granddogs are here for the weekend but they are no bother at all.
Enjoy your day everyone and thoughts with those with worries.

Bella23 Fri 24-Nov-23 11:16:41

Good morning from a sunny but very cold Eden. The gardener has been out since before 10 and reported a forest of Sycamore Trees that need to be pulled and a lot of small branches blown down by the gales we have had,the bins are now full and have to stand for a month.
I get lectures all the time from my DD's ,it's like a mantra, Your exercises are important you know they keep you fit,
Keep abreast of modern trends and then you'll look a hit.
Makeup needs updating as does the hair,
Get your hair cut shorter you are no longer fair.
You know your getting fatter,
And your health does matter.
Hold your tum in and stand up straight.
The answer to all this, lose a bit of weight.

Said the pair who dressed me in what DH called Nursing Home Chic.

My 91 year old mother is the one constantly reminding me I should have a walk daily.DD’s say grandma walks further than they can!
