Damp and grey here in Co Durham. Beset with vertigo this morning, pleased Monday isn’t a dgd walk to school day.
Yesterday I ordered Christmas cards with a printed message saying we were stopping sending cards after this year. Arthritic hands make writing difficult and painful. I was surprised at how cheaply I got them, just £1.02 each!! Just the envelopes to address. I used to print them onto labels but I’ve none left and have forgotten how 😂.
Have a good day all.

Good morning all and it’s damp but doesn’t feel quite so cold .

Yesterday we had lunch out with Ds1 and family - celebrating the birthday boys. Dh 74 too, Glammagran A lovely newly re furnished old pub, beautifully decorated, attentive and pleasant staff BUT the food was so disappointing! Cold plates, Luke warm food, the toughest roast lamb I’ve ever tasted, and soggy veg. Dh said the same about his. The rest of the family enjoyed theirs , so we didn’t complain and ruin the jolly atmosphere. Oh well you win some , you lose some!

Today I have Chimes group, shopping and Music and Memories, so a busy day. Dh will enjoy his empty with little pooch.

Happy birthday mr glammagran.
GG are you having all the family to stay again? Lots of work for you but I know you enjoy it 🎅.
Helterskelter I love looking in people’s Christmas windows as I walk the dog in the evenings 👀.

Hoping you all have a ‘good’ day 🍂🍁

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey, damp Carlisle where it appears to have rained overnight.
Yesterday I was quietly busy at various jobs on the computer and reading the papers. There are always things to be done and not enough hours in the day to do them in...I don't know how I ever managed to fit in a full time job once!
I'm hoping to go down town shortly, I've realised that, actually, Christmas isn't that far away and things need to be posted to Australia. While we're shivering here, DS2 says it's very hot there, I'm wondering if I could ever acclimatise to that....
Later, I shall launder the bedding. Holiday clothes are already cleaned and put away. There's no immediate prospect of them coming out again, my next holiday is to chillier climes.

You'll soon be enjoying your refurbished home grandMattie, all nicely timed to be finished before the holidays. It's looking great so far.

Have the best possible day everyone.

Good morning from a dullN.Bucks.
Slept quite well after the business of a weekend with the two DGSs.
Today we are visiting my Brother and Sister in Law. About an hours drive away. It will be a quiet day which may include some sort of crafting for us ladies and putting the world to rights , plus some snoozing for the men.

Healing thoughts for all the poorlies and those who are struggling in any way. A hopefully pleasant day wished for all.

Good morning from damp South Lanarkshire.

Hope your cold doesn’t get any worse Marydoll, I’ve still no voice at all.

Ouch! A scald is so painful Harrigran.

No volunteering for me today as I can’t speak, it’s getting tiresome now.

I did some online Christmas shopping for DS’s children as DDoutLaw kindly sent me lots of ideas so may pick those up today, I also have a parcel to post. Such excitement.

I’ll carry on with crocheting my Christmas angels for our yarn bomb giveaway. We’ve another week before they have to be bagged up.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good morning Mick and all from a brightening day in my DDs new flat in Berkshire. We had a lovely day in London yesterday, my annual visit to see the lights etc. We took the bus in for a change and very convenient as the stop is right outside the flat. Got out at Harrods and up and down the Egyptian escalator, beloved of DD since a child, coffe and cake then on to Sloane Square where I bought a smart waistcoat with gold buttons and DD a gold effect dress for an upcoming big birthday.
Dinner in Mayfair at a sumptuously decorated new restaurant, like dining in the Vatican 😁 and home on the train after completing well over the recommended steps. A perfect day apart from leaving my power bank in the restaurant…

My sister joins us today and DD has put up her tree and decorated it.
Sorry you have had bad news Blossom happy birthday Glammagran thoughts to Urms and all with worries.

Good morning everyone from a very grey and wet Northampton, 6°C outside.

Yoga this morning, then shall see what it's like after lunch, as I have a parcel to pick up in Next - a dressing gown for DGD for Christmas.
Apart from that, nothing planned.for today, may write the Christmas cards for family in Australia and get them in the post this week.

I very much enjoyed the screening of the Cliff Richard 65th anniversary concert yesterday; it was a real tonic on a wet, cold and miserable Sunday afternoon; difficult to believe he is 83..... I knew all the words, and sang along happily!

Will go back and read all the news when I get back from yoga, must get ready now, being picked up shortly.
Hope everyone's Monday goes well.

Try again

Greyduster Mon 27-Nov-23 08:44:00

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a cold, wet South Yorkshire. I did very little yesterday apart from change my bed linen, putting the king sized thirteen tog quilt on (which gave me all the workout I needed!) and thoroughly enjoyed it once I got rid of the guilt of not using my time usefully! Today I have two fish pies and two chicken and mushroom pies to make so that will keep me busy. Had it not been so wet, I would have gone into town to spend my Waterstones vouchers.
Have the best day you can folks.

merlotgran Mon 27-Nov-23 08:52:16

Good morning everyone from the soggy south. It feels milder as well. Housework and soup making on the cards for today. My radiators need bleeding but I can’t find the key. There’s always something!!
Yesterday afternoon I binge watched Archie, the bio pic about Cary Grant. It’s on ITV X and I can recommend it.
Hope everyone has a good start to the week.

BlueSapphire Mon 27-Nov-23 08:52:47

Glammagran, saw pictures of the lights switch-on on the town's Facebook page; thought it was very well attended, and the centre looked fabulous. Was nothing like that there back in the 50s/60s when I was growing up.
My DSis moves back there today into a care home.

GrannySomerset Mon 27-Nov-23 09:03:29

Have realised that I have left reading two books rather late as both groups meet this week - one today - so must get on with it. I never used to procrastinate like this, and need to plan my time much more efficiently.

Lovely morning though chilly as winter has arrived according to the weather forecast. No more workmen scheduled, the weekend’s painting makes all the difference and all the effort of the last few weeks is worthwhile. The inside of the windows needs attention but perfection is not on the cards. Must get going!

Blossoming Mon 27-Nov-23 09:04:57

Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire, currently 4°c and raining heavily.

No real plans for today, I will see what the day brings.

Happy Monday 🌻

Urmstongran Mon 27-Nov-23 09:12:24

Good morning everyone from a wet and windy south Manchester. It’s currently 4°C. We have no plans. Staying cosy today sounds ideal.

No Matt = Monday.

monk08 Mon 27-Nov-23 09:19:50

Good morning all from a wet Black country.
Yesterday was pleasant with the family here for dinner Dgs2 was disappointed though he wanted meatballs for his dinner, it's his usual treat during midweek visits although with some persuasion he eat all his roast. Dgs1 informed us he will be a teenager in 5yrs, DiL rolled her eyes and said that's something to look forward to.
No plans for today will see how the day progresses.
Best wishes for anyone celebrating, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.
Will go back and catch up with everybody's happenings, enjoy your day everyone and may you all find some ☀️.

cornergran Mon 27-Nov-23 09:27:28

Morning Mick, morning All. Looks dry out there after overnight rain.

All the coughing has removed my voice. Mr C seems pleased hmm. Hand signals it is then! A quiet day ahead as neither of us are possessed of energy. .

Have the best day you can everyone.

Grandmabatty Mon 27-Nov-23 09:29:28

Happy birthday to your DH Glammagran. No sign yet of the door replacers. I'll be hanging about I can tell.

Urmstongran Mon 27-Nov-23 09:31:55

I love what the grandchildren say monk!
Yesterday I was at my stepfather’s. He’s 91y. The doorbell rang, it was ‘L’il Miss’ (6) with her mum. A nice surprise visit.

G.pa: I’ve nothing in really for you to drink. No pop.
L’il Miss: What’s pop?
Her mum; Another word for fizzy drinks, like cola.
L’il Miss: Is it what really old people call it? It’s okay grandpa as I’m only allowed fizzy drinks on special occasions. Mum says I can have some on Christmas Day. You can come to us and share some.
😁

monk08 Mon 27-Nov-23 09:45:55

Urms yes its lovely some of the things they come out with, and what a nice surprise for you to see 'L'il Miss'. Ours also only get fizzy on special occasions.

Taichinan Mon 27-Nov-23 09:54:47

🎵🎶 "Oh what a beautiful morning" 🎶🎵. Good morning all from 6° and blue sky on the Angus coast. I slept last night!! 8 hours with only one loo break! I feel like a different person after nearly a full week of only 2-3 hours each night of broken sleep. Oh joy indeed.
No such good news from new baby-land. Little Ollie has decreed that night is day and is lung exercise time!
Today for me is Tai chi AGM - not my favourite thing, but it won't last forever. Apart from that I have no real plans as I caught up on everything yesterday.
Lovely photo Holly and glad you enjoyed your stay in London - very different to my view of ploughed field, woods, water and hills! And happy birthday Mr Glammagran - hope you feel better to enjoy your slice of cake.
I hope all feeling poorly and low can find something to feel good about - it's always there x

Scapa1 Mon 27-Nov-23 10:24:58

Lovely sunny but cold day here in Central Scotland. Did very little over the weekend yesterday can only be described as “dreich”. Made tomato and bean soup which will last a couple more days. I don’t use recipes or measure anything for soup it just all gets thrown in! Had a good phone chat with a recently widowed friend of over fifty years she seems to be doing okay considering on the surface anyway. Today I need to catch up with ironing and then out for coffee with my sister in law this afternoon. Enjoy the day.

Litterpicker Mon 27-Nov-23 11:10:01

Good morning from West Sussex. The early rain has stopped and blue sky has appeared.
I am planning to bake a beetroot chocolate cake and weigh out the fruit for the Christmas cake. Then I need to sort out what we need for two weeks in Scotland. Of course I can’t remember what clothes I left in our flat and didn’t update my original list. Never mind, I think whatever keeps me warm and dry will do. DGS’s have started their prelims so the household is very stressed! I think they will be pretty much over by the time we get there.
Happy birthday to MrGlammagran.
Have the best possible day all.

keepcalmandcavachon Mon 27-Nov-23 11:12:18

Good morning every one, wet mac hanging up to dry, hands wrapped 'round a milky coffee cuddling up to a slightly damp snorrey dog. It's good to be back inside!
Hope every one has a good safe day x

Feelingmyage55 Mon 27-Nov-23 11:21:52

Good morning from a wet, grey and very cold north of Scotland. Been for my blood test and had coffee after in a lovely cafe. Bumped into friends I have not seen since lockdown and arranged to meet up for a whole day soon.
GM Your shower room is lovely and so spacious. I’d be having two showers a day for the novelty.
now for some serious online browsing for Christmas gifts. I have asked for lists but not received them yet. Going to send Advent calendars as a nudge.
Hope all those under the weather stay cosy and improve.

glammagran Mon 27-Nov-23 12:24:34

BlueSapphire best wishes to your sister on her return to her hometown. Taichinan we had coffee cake yesterday made by DD2. We are having lobster spaghetti (Gordon Ramsey recipe) later after we drop GD3 back home. Whether DH will taste any of it seems unlikely. Lost voice = quieter day grin
