Good Morning Everyone,
Its a dark, cold and icy start here in brackley this morning.
Today , usual bus to Bicester , intend to xmas shop as to gift cards ,also yesterday I asked the bakery shop who's cafe I frequent to put a swiss roll by for me to pick up today.
Also saw some people I know prior to getting on the bus to Bicester yesterday who were of to IOW for a T & T ,had the chance to catch up as to myself and my absence on coach trips this year .
Take Care,
Mick

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. There is a chill in the air.
After our friends left yesterday I mixed up the Christmas pudding. This morning I will add the flour and put it to steam for 8 hours. At some point I have to do the weekly Waitrose shop. OH will need to keep an eye on the water levels so the pudding doesn’t boil dry!
Christmas presents to wrap for my Australian relatives and labels to print off for the cards. Plus never ending WI!
Well done GM.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all. 3° and cloudy on the Angus coast, with the moon peeping out from behind the clouds every now and then. It's still dark here - sunrise not until 8 15.
We had a good turnout for our AGM yesterday, but I might as well have not been there. My hearing gets worse and worse, and there's nothing can be done about that sadly. Still, there's worse things.
Today is Tai chi again - after a night of only 3 hours' sleep again. When I went to bed it was because I was feeling like nodding off, but the moment I put the light off and lay down it was Ping! and I was wide-awake again. Retribution for 8 hours' sleep the previous night!
Rosiesmaw have a wonderful day at Covent Garden you lucky lady.
Grandmattie at last! And what a relief that that saga is now over - enjoy the improvement.
Grandmabatty I hope that door change is prompt - and take care testing the slippy pavements.
Have a good day everyone, whatever you are doing x

Morning from a chilly S Hants, stunning moon earlier, then clouded over.
Nearly there gMattie.
The wrong door Grandmabatty, oh dear, what a mix up, hopefully sorted soon.
Safe journey brook and Mrbrook.
The voluntary phone was manageable yesterday, not as frantic as last week and my team came second in the pub quiz.
No plans today, well there’s always housework which I can easily ignore.
Enjoy your day if you can.

DH would have been green, Maw, “Cav”was one of his favourite operas.
Incidentally, my uncle was a scenery painter at the ROH; he did get the occasional dress rehearsal ticket and that’s how, in 1963 (!), I saw the Bolshoi Ballet!

Grandmabatty Tue 28-Nov-23 08:13:11

Ash by coincidence my coffee delivery arrived yesterday too, and I had taken advantage of the Black Friday offer too!

monk08 Tue 28-Nov-23 08:18:34

After continual rain yesterday it's a bright sunny start here in the Black country.
We bought a new dinner service yesterday but I need to go back one of the cereal bowls was missing when I came to unpack so that's todays job and a trip to the charity shop with my old one.
Ash I had to put bed socks on before I could sleep last night my feet were so cold.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Good morning from a bitterly cold but dry Suffolk after torrential rain yesterday.

I’ve already lost this thread once so I’ll keep this post brief in case this goes too!

Off to the Arts Society lecture in Aldeburgh later and then lunch with the 2 friends I go with. I don’t mind being out of the house at the moment because DH wants to conserve our oil stock. The delivery which arrived last week couldn’t be delivered as the driver found a crack in the tank and we need a new one. Not the best time of year to require someone to fix one as it’s a big job apparently. DH is on the case again this morning and also looking for a chimney sweep so we can safely light the dining room fire.

Small irritations compared with problems faced by many across our troubled world.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a bright but chilly South Yorkshire. A change from a very wet day yesterday. I’m sneezing today and my eyes are running. I spent yesterday cooking, ordered two Christmas presents and bought some cards. That’s a first for me in November! Laundry this morning and volunteering this afternoon. DD has a job interview today. I’m sure she’ll impress them, but if she doesn’t get the job, an interview is always good experience.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Marydoll Tue 28-Nov-23 08:25:12

Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow, where it's 0°.

So much busyness here today, my day is less exciting. We too need work done in the house, but I am not well enough for any upheaval at the moment. I wish I had the oomph to do it.

Fortunately, I had a successful meeting with a surprisingly ameniable PP yesterday, but I have made work for myself! I can't help myself! When I complained, he advised me that keeping my brain active, will help prevent me from getting Alzheimers!! 😁

I had such a lovely afternoon with my three friends yesterday afternoon. Much to our relief, the other granny didn't come and I could speak freely, I had forgotten how close we were.
We four have been friends for over forty years, but feel it wouldn't be kind to exclude her, because she is our neighbour and my son's MIL However, she cannot be trusted to be discreet and betrays confidences, embellished which her own take on it, so we have to be careful what is said.

One of my friends, who will be eighty in January announced that her son and DIL in Australia had a new baby that morning.
Her son, a chartered accountant, gave up his job to travel the world and never returned! Her two other grandchildren are twenty and eighteen, so this was a huge surprise.
My other friend, (the one who lost her SIL to MND in the summer) is really struggling. Her daughter and two grandchildren have been living with her since the funeral and the baby is in and out of hospital, she is exhausted.

My day finished well with a surprise visit from DD 😍, who had come to unburden herself after SIL had damaged the newly laid kitchen floor, moving the fridge! Oh and he took a chunk out of the door frame, as well as accidently tipping the contents of the fridge ( including a tub of cream) over the floor.
I told DD that women tend to marry people, who remind them of their father. 🤣

My plan is to do a quick shop and get stuck in to the parish stuff, I have promised to do.
Morrisons sometimes have frozen clams and I have a notion for Spaghetti alle vongole.
Mr Doll is still unwell with chest problems, so unlike him, and he is not coping well with it. , so I shall go alone.
I'm trying to be a caring wife, but is is not easy. 😉

Have a good day folks and I hope the poorlies feel better soon.

Gingster Tue 28-Nov-23 08:33:33

Good morning all and it’s bright and cold but no forecast of rain here in Essex.

Yesterday was great fun at Music and Memories Christmas special. My friend who runs it with her husband works so hard with research , choosing the songs from 50’s, 60’s and 70’s with such personality and enthusiasm. We laughed and sang , danced and told tales of why the songs meant so much to us.
What a tonic, on a dreary November day full of worry and woes. Better than any meds.🥳.

Ash I’d love to come and see your production of Cranford. Wear your thermals.🥶
Grandmabatty how frustrating for you.
Brook enjoy your family time. Nice to have Dh with you.
Liberty thanks for your PM.
Hope the Covid warriors recover soon. My db1 has it at the moment.

Bridge club this afternoon. Dh has a blood test this morning.

Have a good day and keep warm.

ginny Tue 28-Nov-23 08:43:05

Good morning. Dry, still but chilly here in N. Bucks.
We enjoyed our day with my brother and sister in law . So good to see them a little more relaxed after all the strain they have been under
Today DH and I are doing the lowbrow version of Maws outing. We are going to a talk about Medeival Christmas with music and an afternoon tea to be enjoyed afterwards.

Wishing all a pleasant day with a smile along the way.

Good morning from a very chilly Co Armagh
Yesterday was busy , Daughter has a week off , means she keeps me on my toes !
We parceled , printed labels ( a lengthy procedure on my less than compliant printer ) and got things posted , I made a few cards , crocheted a few rows ( and pulled back a couple ! )
Now off to the dentist , my least favourite part of the day .
Some shopping for bits and pieces for presents ,
Home for lunch and rest !
It 2 deg outside
Thinking of all , hope the day turns out better than expected for everyone!

EkwaNimitee Tue 28-Nov-23 09:02:56

Good morning Mick and everyone from greyish Carlisle where we may well get glints of sun sooner or later.
I did get into town yesterday and posted my Christmas cards and a packet to Australia. Last posting day December 6. I have to say to our Australian friends that Auspost does not have a good rep for speedy deliveries with our post office!
I then went into M&S looking for some decent black trousers and finally settled on a pair. They've altered their leg lengths, they are longer, which suits me but not the height challenged assistant! I found I had to go for a skinny fit, my problem being that trousers are generally cut to fit ladies with larger thighs and mine are, well, skinny. M&S seem to have upped their game with a good selection of attractive clothing now. I was nearly seduced by a beautiful Seasalt sweater....until I saw the price. Though the little horned guy on my shoulder whispered that I deserved a Christmas present!

Back to mundane things like catching up with the housework this morning and then I have to insure a holiday. I had two quotes yesterday, one twice the amount of the other for identical policies, both companies dealing with older people with medical conditions. We are not talking peanuts here money-wise, not difficult to guess which one I will pick.

Best wishes to your sister BlueSapphire and I hope she will enjoy her new home.

Have the best possible day, everyone.

Georgesgran Tue 28-Nov-23 09:04:29

Good morning from Durham.
Cold, crisp and clear so far.
Coffee with a friend at a local garden centre this morning, then chiropodist this afternoon.
Between times, I must steam my hard floors and do more than just look at the Christmas cards - they aren’t going to write/post themselves.
I have horror stories of our builder, George - he was here, off and on for 6 months!! It’s a long story, but in the end, DH advised him to get a proper job!
Thinking of those not too well at the moment.
Best wishes to all. X

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where the sun is shining but it’s frosty on the rooftops. Manicure for me this afternoon. Nice to have a bit of pampering and chatting quietly with the salon owner who I’ve been with for almost 20 years will do my mental health good as I feel so jittery at times these days.

Here’s Matt.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 28-Nov-23 09:05:23

Morning all from blue skies, sunny but cold S E Essex.

I am off with 11 friends to our local Hospice Christmas lunch fundraiser (last year it raised over £5,000). So I need to sort out a nice posh frock DH drives four or us there and friends DH picks us up.

Pleased your work is nearly finished grandMattie what a bothersome experience with your door Grandbatty

Have a good day folks 🦩🙋‍♀️

GrannySomerset Tue 28-Nov-23 09:18:55

Supermarket shop then serious sheep knitting and finishing book group tome. No excuse for being so behind with things though perhaps the procession of workmen has thrown me more than is reasonable. Quite see why Marydoll can’t face it and I don’t have a fraction of her health problems. Fingers crossed that nothing else goes wrong in the house!

Very envious of Rosie’s jaunt today and Ginny’s too and hope all the other plans for the day go well.

LauraNorderr Tue 28-Nov-23 09:20:43

Good morning Mick. Good morning all from Cheshire where the skies are blue and the sun is shining, bit on the cold side but we can’t have everything.
Off for a wander round Chester today, may do a little Christmas shopping, will certainly stop for a coffee somewhere nice and warm.
Wishing you all a happy day 🎶oh happy day🎶

Good morning from a cold and Icy Eden. Yesterday was wash day literally all day. The visitors have gone and left many things to laugh about. Also a list of Christmas things to be done
Tales of touring around France with the Rugby Union World Cup which I envy.
Chatsworth was recommended for anyone who lives near beautifully decorated for Christmas.
A crisp walk in our own countryside this afternoon.
Have a good day everyone.

Marydoll Tue 28-Nov-23 09:51:50

GG, enjoy! 💚
I used to love dressing up for the hospice ball. Two of my friends died and it just wasn't the same.

We once went on a girls' weekend to the Metro centre and I spotted a beautiful, slinky, glittery dress, that I thought would be perfect for an upcoming event.
I tried it on and came out of the fitting room to show my friends. They were looking at me very oddly and eventually one of them said, That dress doesn't do you any favours.
That's because I put it on over my clothes, I couldn't be bothered to get undressed!, I said.😂

Grannyme6 Tue 28-Nov-23 09:59:08

Morning all.
Went with DH to the Red Cross Christmas Market at Guildhall, London last evening. So many lovely stalls, we were spoilt for choice but finally made our selections for some Christmas presents and a few ‘bits’ for us.
Sunny and dry today, so hopefully tennis will go ahead today.
Hoping for a gentle day for us all.

Spuddy Tue 28-Nov-23 10:00:04

Good morning from here in Appleby-in-Westmorland, Cumbria!

That was a ''good start'' to the day! I came into work at 7:30, at 8:56 I needed the loo, goes to the public loo just around the corner. Came out into the passage, there was a woman I'd never seen before, she was in a rush to get into the Public Hall. I cheerily only said ''Morning!'' and she told me to p* off! I hope she sued the charm school! HA!

Other than that, it's now 9:56, and 1.9C out, I absolutely LOVE the winters/cold! Sat here wearing my big long very wide soft multi-coloured scarf, guzzling a can of Liquid Death and scoffing a box of Maltesers!

Sat at home last night having our dinner, I was trying to read my Chat magazine at the same time, hubby kept interrupting! He kept saying ''Spuddy, what should we do now?!'' I replied ''You can shut up as I can't read!'' and he replied ''Yes, I know, that's why you're only looking at the pictures!'' I FORCED him into the kitchen to make hot water bottles ready for bed!

Last night hubby put an extra duvet on the bed so we were ensconced in 2 of them and as of every night, our little cat, Wopsie joined us, body under the duvet's and head on our pillows or shoulders, happily singing away she was!

Have a great day, all!

Kalu Tue 28-Nov-23 10:05:34

Good morning all from a frosty but sunny Glasgow.

Having just filled the bird feeders, two squirrels have now arrived, unable to get to the feed, good, but now they have decided to turn the feeders upside down and spill the contents out! 😡 I may have to resort to fat balls only.

Not such a busy day today, phone calls to do and collect a delivery from Boots, visit to the bank.

Best wishes to all for a good day and hopefully a better day for those who would welcome one.

Ziplok Tue 28-Nov-23 10:53:40

Good morning,
Chilly but bright today - a big improvement on yesterday.
Off to first Christmas meal today - the countdown begins 😁.
It takes all sorts I suppose Spuddy. Like you say, she should sue the charm school 😅. (Maybe she was having a bad day…)
Not a lot else planned for the day, but must post some cards for abroad on the way back from the lunch..
Hope you all have a good day.

hollysteers Tue 28-Nov-23 11:32:23

Good morning Mick and all from sunny Berkshire
I travel home oop north today, leaving soon, after a lovely time with DD, but feel v tired as had cramp in the night and tossed and turned for what seemed like hours.
Dsister came over from Surrey yesterday and we had a nice day, the local pub is full of character and candlelight. erring on the side of complete darkness 😁 good meal of steak and lots of catching up. Poor DD sits politely through our ‘hilarious’ memories….
Well feeling like a zombie, I hope you have a good day and the pampering does you good Urms
