Does anyone else have a passion for Teapots - or anything else 😄

its not all bad news is it???

Paper weights have been my passion. Not acquired any in past few years but have 80 to dust!

I like jugs and tea pots but my husband limits the no !

I am 77 and have been collecting child size tea sets for years! Open a cabinet or closet in my house and uh oh, there's another one! My granddaughters are not fans. I've always loved small things! Silly collection, huh?

My mum collected the 'Evesham' Royal Worcester tableware, and the months / days of the week figurines described above, and also 'Booths' willow pattern. I've still got all of it, but won't be adding to the collection because I don't have space for any more!

My own passion is for vintage Britains farm models - my toy farm was my favourite thing all through my childhood and now I search ebay for rare pre-war items. It's packed away awaiting for the day when I've got somewhere to display it all, but sometimes I will set out a layout on the top of a sideboard or on a windowsill.

Oh gosh, that is fab. My kids had many years of enjoyment from a Britain’s farm I bought at a jumble sale when they were tiny. I saw the exact same farm in a retro shop a few weeks ago. Ours was moulded plastic base with ponds, stables, yards etc and then you popped on fences, gates, buildings etc. there were a few farm animals but we bought loads more. (Plastic)

I'm not really a collector, but I do buy local pottery whenever I'm on vacation, so I have a really eclectic variety of vases and bowls. I find them handy, and they do get used.

I have only one teapot, a brown betty. It is dear to me because my grandson bought it a charity shop when my previous one was badly chipped on the spout.

Jugs. I used to buy one as a souvenir in each place I went to on holiday. One day I thought, What do I want with so many jugs? and stopped doing it. I do use all the ones I have, for gravy, custard, squash, flowers, pens and pencils, as ornaments. Hiding things.

I do like jugs but most of them are put away now and some are in the box for the charity shop.
🤔 perhaps I'll retrieve them!

I love your farm. I haven't seen one like that before.

My late sister collected teapots - they adorned every available space in her home. So did my sister in law who had some very early examples found while trawling junk shops when they still contained treasures! I collect porcelain military figurines - mostly Napoleonic - and I used to collect blue and white china, which is now in boxes cluttering up the garage. I do have a Spode Copeland Italian tea service which is rarely used now but I can’t bear to part with it. When I go, there will be no sentimental attachment to any of it.

Thank you, Primrose. I have already begun my hunt on ebay and can see myself being hooked. I love the shape of yours, so I'll be looking out for one. It also gives me the perfect excuse to visit charity shops, and in the spring, boot sales 😜❤️

Thanks. This pattern is my favourite and is called Evesham Gold as it has gold plating. I think it dates back to the 1960s. New they are about £50 but a lot of charity shops now sell them for about £5-6 in perfect condition as a lot of people bought them for show rather than for use. Everything in my kitchen is always used!

PS I use old woollen socks as the initial stuffing and then knitting yarn, then sewing thread to make the ball ready for decorating.

Historically they were often made as children's toys.

Primrose53, that casserole dish is lovely. Fairycakes, eBay is your friend for Harvest crockery, including teapots. It is a range that has long been retired in their shops.

Foxes anything with foxes tea pots jugs salt and pepper pots ornaments plant pots it’s getting out of hand now.

For about the last year I have been buying pieces of Royal Worcester. I worked in a gift shop at weekends and school holidays and this used to arrive in huge tea chests. I had to unpack it, price it and put it on display. I loved it and promised myself one day I would buy some. I never did as it was expensive but now I guess it’s old fashioned so people give it to charity shops, but it brings back memories for me and I do make a lot of stews and casseroles. It washes beautifully and all food looks very special in it.

This is just one piece.

My mother collected teapots for a while but after a couple of Birthdays and Christmas's where she was given the most hideous teapots, she stopped! We chuckled about it as we sent those hideous ones down to the Charity Shop.

Used to be teapots but now its cushions clocks snd craft stuff lol

I remember the Harvest teapot. I think I'll look out for one seeing as it makes such good tea 😄

My husband says I have too many & packed some up to put in storage but he has forgotten where so I have to start all over again buying more!!! smile
