Good Morning Monday 4th December 2023

Good morning from a milder but damp N. Bucks.
Santa was around the streets early yesterday. It bought back lovely memories of our older DGS and our 3 DDs waiting and watching for him.
Felt very tired yesterday after a walk around the town and didn’t feel like doing much after. Feel fine today so will get cracking in my ‘to do’ list.

Good morning everyone from a very wet and milder Northampton, 4°C today.
No yoga this morning as I have my annual appointment at the optician; I fear it will be an expensive one, as I have managed to get away with not having to change my prescription for three years....the last time was in 2020, in lockdown
Afterwards I may grab a bite to eat in town and have a browse around the shops.

Very much enjoyed the film 'Napoleon ' yesterday, which I went to with a friend who was very keen to see it. A lady came and sat next to us, we got chatting before the film started, and it turned out that her partner was in the film - he is a stunt horse rider, and does regular film work. She did manage to spot him in the film, in one of the many battle scenes.
She had come on her own as he was away filming in Spain, a Penelope Cruz film, I think she said.

Afterwards my friend and I had a mooch around the shops, and yet another jumper fell off the rail into my bag, this time in Primark.....

Got home about 5 ish, where my delicious slow cooker chicken casserole was waiting, just had to cook some veg in the microwave. Three portions left over to go in the freezer this morning.
Fish, new potatoes and peas for dinner tonight.

Time for porridge and berries then get ready for my trip into town.

Good morning all from Glasgow where it is -1°C. Its raining I think, but the snow is still lying.

Glad the lunch went well, GM and that tree is amazing, Baubles!

I'm a bit sad today, it is my brother's birthday. I practically brought him up, but he married a much older woman, who had adult children. She didn't want him associating with his family, so he cut us out of his life. DH and I were devastated and I cannot understand why. I tried to hard to resolve things, but he ignored letters, emails, wedding invitations etc.

I overdid things yesterday, including mopping the church floor between masses, there were puddles everywhere ( why do people not wipe their feet?) and screwing a door handle back on! However I felt that I had over achieved something, and I am not on my way out just yet!
I used my last anti nausea tablet to get me through the morning, so am off to pick up a different, stronger prescription today. Fingers crossed for a good result.

My portable hard drive with a lifetime's school resources wasn't working, so after a bit of research I ordered a new caddy. I dismantled the old one, put it in the new case, but a message came up, saying it needed a disk repair.😡
Not to be beaten, I had a go at sorting it and managed to fix it.
On it I found the photos of my Scary Santa days. Scary Santa was a character I invented, who always appeared at the staff Christmas lunch. Santa always knew the misdemeanours, that staff thought they had gotten away with. Everyone looked forward to it with great trepidation excitement.
I shall try and post a picture tomorrow.

Good morning from a very wet and mild Cornwall, where I'm amazed that I've slept in. Feels like half way through the morning to me. Lovely time in Wetherspoons last evening with my son and grandson. Such a gentle, friendly atmosphere. Near us were two young men reading books, and a man I know to be in his 90's, contentedly eating on his own with half a pint of beer.

Today I'll buy some American oilcloth for my new 'office' table then bus it to M&S for some Christmas goodies. Love the ribbon-cutting ceremony gM, just the sort of thing I'd do.

Good morning my friends from a very very cold,windy and rainy start here on the east coast of Fife but that won’t stop me going out to M&S I’ve a few things to get from there so all will be well.
I do love getting out and about with my carer who will take me she’s a star of a person. I’ll just wrap up well no stroke holds me back

Good morning from a cold, rainy Colchester.
Home and warm after getting wet and frozen watching under 8s football yesterday. DGS team won and he scored a goal.
I have a shopping list but may put off venturing out and stick to indoor pursuits today. Christmas cards need doing.

Good morning from a dull and grey Black Country where it is still raining after raining all day yesterday! At least no ice or snow.

No walk this morning as I need to drive over to Mums and take her to a Dentist appointment as she needs a filling after a check up 3 weeks ago. When I reminded her yesterday about the appointment . She said ' I am sure they will find something needs doing' She had no memory of going recently for a check up!

Looking at the walking group WhatsApp, everyone has cried off the walk anyway.

No cards to write, as I took a leaf out of my cousins book, and just donate money to charity in lieu, now the cost of postage is so hight.

Sounds like you had a lovely time gM I hope everyone was suitably impressed.

Fingers crossed for negative test Corner I hope the coughing eases soon.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Very cold with snow lying.

Yesterday's advent dinner went well except I got the time of my bus home wrong by an hour so had to go back and beg to be let in from the cold. My df lives on the 3rd floor of an Edinburgh tenement. It certainly keeps her fit.

When I arrived home the electrician was up a tall ladder changing my hall light bulb having been out to Asda for a replacement and brought me some yellow sticker food including raspberries which I'm now eating on my porridge!😊

Today I have the optician to check post cataract op. I hope I'll get the go ahead to drive again. although my car is stuck under snow at a df house

This afternoon I've agreed to cover an absence at the community store and Christmas market.

Good morning from a wet but mild feeling Suffolk. The rain has washed away the frost and,although I hate driving when icy,I miss the whiteness and brightness of it. What a gloomy time it is now.

DGD4’s 12th birthday next Sunday so I’ll go to the post office to post her present today as post to Bristol often seems to take ages. She would be disappointed if there was nothing from us on her day. Apart from that trip to our nearest little town, I’ve got lots of reading online to do for my all day meeting on Wednesday and a short Teams meeting this afternoon. Keeps my brain active I like to think but others may not concur!

Unless it stops will not venture out will make a start on the cards something I didn't do yesterday, although my trees up so I've made a start. Talking of trees that's very impressive baubles such talented people around.

SIL made it through the snow yesterday and we had our roast beef dinner.
We did some research for DS's birthday present and did a wine order from Waitrose.

Good morning Mick and all from a damp northwest coast. I had a day at home yesterday and feel the benefit. More card business and my favourite liver and bacon in the evening. Must arrange an oil change for car. I’m sorry to hear my trusty man at local garage is retiring. He’s old school and very honest.

Book group tonight at a member’s house. Sadly it was a hate read and I never finished the book. Became allergic to it. Life seems too short to spend on books I can’t stand when I’m surrounded here by books I love.

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s raining and washing the snow away.
The well-being fair was very poorly attended yesterday, I doubt we had 20 visitors across the 5 hours. It was so cold with lots of lying snow so I’m not surprised people didn’t come out.
I must set about writing Christmas cards today. Craft afternoon later then taking my neighbour to visit her DH in the convalescent home in Richmond.

Good morning all and it’s damp but warmer here in Essex.

We had a lovely trip to London on Saturday visiting the Dennis Severs house/museum. A silent tour around made you feel as though the occupants through the ages had just left the room. A very different and unusual experience . A step back in time. We wandered around Spitalfields market (a huge place) and then had a long lunch in the warm. The trains and the City were heaving!

RosiesMaw - my son recently had this happen to him. He was silly and left his car unlocked on the drive and had his sports bag with two very expensive tennis racquets stolen. This must be happening a lot.

Yesterday we were going to get our decs down from the loft, but we don’t have a proper loft ladder and we have to heave ourselves up. Dh is a bit wobbly and I’m a woos who doesn’t like ladders, so we’ll wait for ds1 to come to our aid next weekend..

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey, damp Carlisle where it is 2°C. We are due for a wet week apparently.
I finished sorting through my postcard collection yesterday, 4 boxes down to 3, I suppose that's something...I also checked through my catalogue of CD's, a tedious business, now I have to put them all back in their cabinet having given it a good dusting.
Today, a start on the usual laundry and housework activities and I have various phone calls I must make.
Reading the comments on starting to write Christmas cards, I had thought some of you were making an early start....but actually not when I think of the date! It's nearly upon us and I must get my finger out, literally. At least I have got round to buying some. Best to get them off before the mail gets overwhelmed.

Good morning everyone from a wet and chilly out south Manchester. I wrote 2 dozen Christmas cards yesterday, put stamps on and Himself got them off in the post yesterday afternoon.

My neighbour whose husband has cancer has asked me to meet today for coffee. Sadly he is now in a hospice. I’m going to find this upsetting as it’s a bit too near the knuckle for me. I shan’t want to hear too many details yet felt I couldn’t say no to her. Heck.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. My post has just vanished so I’ll keep this brief as I have to leave soon to help set up and decorate the church hall for a lunch after a special Advent mass for the sick of the parish. It’s usually a well attended social occasion with lots of folk who don’t really manage to get out often and the helpers who bring them.
Some talented volunteers (not me!) decorate the tables beautifully and it’s a lovely occasion.

baubles, that tree is amazing, is it placed near where you live?

I did get all my cards done yesterday, it took the whole day but I’m so glad it is done.

Overslept again! Have a blood pressure check at the GP later this morning and a book group here this afternoon and am glad it feels much less cold or people would complain as the sitting room didn’t really feel warm enough while temperatures were around 0 degrees. Am impressed that so many have written their cards. Tomorrow’s job, I think.

Yesterday I achieved everything on my to do list except for the tidying up after the paperwork! I'm lucky to be as fit as a fiddle (strange saying) but my stamina is decreasing with indecent haste. A long phone chat with DS2 broke my concentration and I couldn't summon up the energy to finish off properly. Anyway, that is my starting point this morning, along with a foray into town and Tesco's.
DS1 is keeping me well supplied with photos of the gorgeous little Ollie, who seems to be changing by the minute. He really is taking to grandfatherhood as a duck to water - it's lovely to see!

Good morning from a slightly milder Glasgow 2deg. And light rain.

GD2 did well winning a 2nd place rosette but I could have done without the scary moment when her horse slipped on the cobbled yard as she made her way back to the stables, GD2 stayed calm and they made it safely back! Phew.
I took a short video of her receiving her rosette which she showed to her adored Grampa when we returned to ours.
Two outings today, dentist late afternoon and collect scripts. A pot of ham broth is now ready for lunch.

Have the best day possible all and hopefully a smoother day for those with continual worries and struggles ongoing.
