Good morning from Shropshire. Not posted for a while but always read.
We have just been out for a short walk and it’s very windy but mild.
There is so much standing water everywhere and the field behind the house is flooded- will it ever dry out!
We married on New Years Day,almost 51 years ago. It was fine,mild and quite bright.
Put the Christmas tree up this morning so that’s all the decorations sorted just hope the outside lights etc survive the wind promised for later today.

Rough night through coughing and being sick - came to bed at 6am and now going for a long bath.
I had no plans, so I’ll be wrapping gifts and pausing for the odd swig of Covonia!

Good morning Mick and all from a 9c wet northwest coast.
Not many for the art group yesterday morning and I thought it was the final session. Anyway next week has been cancelled, so it was! Drew an art nouveau style head which I will use for more greetings cards. Dropped off bags to charity shop and after a food shop, came home and snuggled under my heated throw. I’m finding the fireside chair with books and iPad is my favourite spot these days. Quiet Xmas preparations day today.

Hope you DH recovers Loopyloo and my previous tv had loudspeakers next to my head, fixed up by DS. This new large ‘smart’ tv doesn’t connect to them and not as good.

I was married on 21st December 1968 and we had beautiful clear blue skies. It was the perfect day!

Good morning from Glasgow, dreich is the only way to describe today’s grey, very wet start to the day.

I don’t think this weather is helping anyone’s mood baubles A trip to the hairdressers and a blether will hopefully cheer you up, it did for me yesterday. Hope you are happy with the result if you decided to have your hair cut a bit shorter. I went from just below my shoulders to below my chin cut, should have done it sooner as it is easier to manage.

I have at least made a start with Christmas decorations, moved from the garage to the sitting room which is littered with boxes and ikea bags with wreaths, garlands, decorations and lots of fairy lights for indoors and out. I bought a supply of batteries at home bargains. Nordic wreath with fairy lights already hanging from the kitchen ceiling. It’s a start.

Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire where it is currently raining heavily. I so agree about getting out Mick, I’m really missing that.

Yesterday I got on with the chores, I didn’t manage to get out as my balance was poor. I was able to order some Christmas treats from Kennedy’s Chocolate Factory. I thought I might have missed the deadline. They will be delivered next Saturday then I just need to hide them from MrB until Christmas Day.

Today will be another spent indoors as the rain is lashing down and it’s very windy. The rail museum is running Santa trains today and they have a lot of Christmas activities indoors so the foul weather won’t ruin the day.

Good heavens BigRed18 that’s too hot for me, I’m a northern flower and I’d wilt!

Good morning from a grey but currently dry East Lothian. We are going to the COP 28 Climate Rally outside the Scottish Parliament - I wish I could hope it will have any effect on our politicians (of whatever brand).
I think we are getting the bus and it will be a first for DD with her mobility scooter. DH is the only one of us who can fold it and lift it on to the bus unless we can persuade DGS to come too. He did say he wanted to go to Edinburgh to get some Warhammer paint for the models he is currently doing.

Hope all those with the very wet and windy weather keep safe and dry(ish). We are promised rain here too, but not the strong winds.

Mick, in our younger days when we played at being farmers for a few years, DH bought a cow that was an Aberdeen Angus cross. Her calves always sold very well!

Good morning all from another driech day on the Angus coast! I really do prefer the icy, bright sunny days to this! Some folks are never satisfied!
Very late today - trying to nudge my sleeping pattern back into something approaching normal but I expect I shall just have to go with the flow.
The trouble with posting first and reading later is that I'm commenting on things a day or more late - but I do agree that the prices in that Copenhagen restaurant are Phew!! But I did enjoy this series of MasterChef. I was so happy for Tom who won last night and shed tears for the runners-up. What talent!
Nothing interesting to impart from here today - just the usual head-long dash towards Christmas. I have to be ready and packed up for the 22nd, so it comes early for me.

Good morning everyone from a very wet Northampton; not going anywhere today. Plans are to put the Christmas tree up, and start decorating downstairs. Listening to Tony Blackburn's Sounds of the Sixties on Alexa at the moment - the music of my student days!

A good time was had at our neighbours' Christmas dinner last night; we went to a hotel the other side of town in organised taxis, so no-one had to drive; the food was very good and served promptly, with way more than I could eat! Was nice to get together. Sadly two couples were unable to attend because of illness in the family,.but there were still 12 of us. Got home about 10.45 and watched the first half of my team's rugby fixture on catch-up. (We won, but I shall still watch the second half at some time today!)

Must stir myself and get showered/dressed ready to tackle the decorations..

Good Morning from a wet and blustery Oxfordshire.
I had a busy day baking yesterday then packing up gifts and the baked goods ready to go to the South West tomorrow. Italian restaurant for lunch then back to GSs Halls of residence for GDs birthday cake and to open a Christmas gift each as we won’t see them again until next year. I must remember to pack some plates and cutlery as he won’t have any, it looks as though it will be a wet drive.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a still dark and very wet Carlisle. I was going to go out for the papers but I think they're not worth getting wet for.
You've got the right idea re getting out and socialising whilst you can Mick, I should take a leaf out of your book. Problem is I get too cosy at home! I shall also be looking for a sound bar but it will be a replacement for my aging sound system. It will look much neater and take up less room, getting rid of speakers and wiring clutter. TV sound on its own seems to be not good enough. Especially when actors these days seem to speak less clearly...I can watch an old film or a documentary perfectly well without subtitles.

Yesterday, my cards went off, after I'd waited ages in the long PO queue, one member of staff on a busy Friday morning...
I also visited my hairdresser and had around 2 inches off, all smartened up now for any Christmas jollities that may be in the offing.
Today I'm going to sort out my large CD collection back into its cabinet and familiarise myself with all the possibilities of internet radio on my new hifi. I popped back into the hifi dealers too yesterday to be shown how to work the connected app on my phone. I was amazed at the range of music I could get, for years I have relied on the same 4 channels for info and entertainment.

Bigred, I heard about the temperatures in Sydney, I don't know how folk function in 40+ degrees if they have to be out and about.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s pouring down at present but mild enough at 8°C. We are meeting the small family for brunch in an hour - I’m glad we only need to go down in the lift, lucky us, where a nice cooked breakfast and no washing up awaits! It will be lovely to sit with the Boy Wonder who yesterday was selected to run cross country for his high school next week and L’il Miss who is super excited at 6y to be a ‘star’ in her infant school nativity.

@Ashcombe and Grandmabatty - re Christmas weddings, you don’t necessarily expect nice weather, but as always, life can be surprising.
Paw and I were married in St Andrew’s at the end of July many many years ago, waking up to pouring rain and a wild East coast hooley, whereas our middle daughter was married the weekend before Christmas 8 years ago in Walthamstow and it was so mild and dry that the pictures could be taken in the Vestry House Museum garden (where the ceremony was held) and we all then “processed” , led by a jazz quartet past the medieval church and through the village to the reception venue!
You could not have planned it or even counted on such good weather at most other tines of the year.

Yesterday was beautiful, so we went to RHS Hyde Hall, not far from here. Mild, sunny and delightful to have a wander round.
We then met our Friday friends for lunchtime drinks. Lovely.

Today ds1 is coming round to get our decs down and he says he’s still putting up our outside lights - he’s determined. He came round yesterday while we were out but the lights had broken, so he’s getting us more today. I trust his good taste 🤔🤞🤣.
GG like you I like to be in control but I’m sure they will be fine, as will your tree. 🙏.

Dh ‘s legs are getting very weak and wobbly. Oh dear I worry about him when he’s out fishing and walking.😥. I still blame the statins but the doctor/ nurse say to keep taking them as he’s had a TIA.,

Good morning everyone from a very wet south coast. I’m about to start making some batches of gf pastry in readiness for DD’s pre Christmas bake off! She’s picking me up at 11 so I’d better get a shift on! We’ll then all be going to the Christmas tree festival at the church. The trees are all decorated by local businesses and community groups etc., and the U3A are doing one this year so I’m eager to see our allotment group contribution ( no input from me because I’m not in the least bit crafty)
No doubt there will be a ‘swift half’ at the local afterwards!

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a very wet South Yorkshire - again. It was mild out yesterday and is again today, but I was hoping for a walk later. I may put my waterproof on and go anyway. Other than that, a day of reading, knitting and watching tv. I am watching Hinterland, a police drama set in and around Aberystwyth, which we know quite well. There’s a lot of Welsh, with English subtitles, spoken and I love to hear the Welsh language.

This evening we have our annual neighbourhood Christmas party, always a good time.

Grey and soggy morning but I have a local lunch to look forward to so my spirits are not dampened. Lots of successful shopping reported and cards posted, though according to reports the cards may well be sitting around in sorting offices rather than being delivered. Nothing seems to be straightforward nowadays.
