Artistic, or dull and boring?

I agree, it's not at all festive, maybe that's deliberate, to appeal to those who don't celebrate Christmas?

I think by wearing plain, generic clothes, they want to appear 'normal', not wanting to flash the cash in the current economic climate?

They are a very handsome family and I like them, but I don't see anything that speaks of Christmas, which is what the photo is meant to be about 🤔

Kate just looks weird. It's boring ,old fashioned and a bit creepy.

It does look dull. Not a bauble in sight.

I like it. In difficult financial times, it is not a showing off sort of photo it looks exactly what it is, a proper family photograph.

I don't think it radiates Christmas whatsoever. The black n white opposed to colour is a no no for me.
I do like the way Charlotte sits, that radiates positivity and shes got strength on her side. Louis radiates mischief and George is very stern and restricted ... but that will no doubt be down to the fact he is being prepared for 1 day being King.

Be it whatever, it doesn't radiate Christmas ....

It's a photograph of a lovely family. In the way they choose. Artistic yes, those smiles make it , it's their way.

The only one who looks at ease is Charlotte who is starting to look like a young Sarah Chatto.

Louis’ hand is awkwardly placed and if it weren’t for his white toecaps you wouldn’t be able to spot his legs.

If it’s supposed to look arty I don’t think it works.

I think it’s beautiful - what a good-looking lot they are - but I can’t quite make out which feet belong to William and which to Louis.

A rather bland photo because of the colour very casual too.

Prince George was the only one not to say ‘cheese’. I think Charlotte looks very mature for 8 years. Maybe a very safe photo perhaps a bit subdued after the loss of the Queen?

A photo of them all plus any dogs on a breezy sunny wintry Norfolk beach would have been jollier. All hats and scarves. and pink cheeks.

Hi, I agree with the many comments, all in the spirit of the thread.
- though there's not much true Christmas spirit in the photo, maybe on purpose and in keeping with other years. 🎄 🎁
The arrangement reminded me a bit of the cover for an album, and it suddenly came to me - The Partridge Family 1970s! So in that respect I think it looks a bit old fashioned within a modern context if you get my meaning. Normally I'm not too keen on the black and white images.
My prizes for comments go to the ones about the confusion of legs, including the chair's legs, but best of all is Grannynannywanny's comment about it being shot in a shopping precinct outside Asda! Normal family, "Save money, Live better".
I think Charlotte makes the best connection with the lens, and yes, the background needs adjusting or shrinking to make the group more prominent.

Neither artistic nor dull and boring - just 5 people in front of fabric. It doesn't say 'Christmas photo' to me, rather 'let's hurry and be done.'
