Good morning from a grey looking Essex coast.

We are off shortly to a carol service for DH's twin grandchildren. I love a children's carol service.

Afterwards we are going into town for a couple of presents that DH has forgotten to buy and hopefully have some lunch out somewhere.

Good morning from a dark and chilly Suffolk. It is the last keep fit class this morning til mid January so I must make the most of it!

Yesterday’s drive to and from Aldeburgh was horrendous because of the torrential rain we’ve had recently…..and East Anglia is or perhaps was supposed to be the driest part of the country! After driving through several floods on the way to the art lecture,my friend,who was driving,decided to take a different route home.

One minor road was flooded and another one was closed because of flooding and finally,when we got to the A12,the main road from London to Lowestoft,that was closed at Yoxford,again because of a flood. Thjourney which normally takes 30 mins took just over an hour but we all felt calmer after a delicious lunch in a pub near to home.

Hope today is a good one for all,especially those with worries or upsets.

Good morning from a very dark Black Country where it is too dark to see what the weather is doing.

Completed my Tax Return yesterday, so that dreaded job is out of the way!

Today we are meeting up with my Brother, SIL, Aunt, Cousin and Mum for lunch. So 7 of us altogether, so should be a lovely couple of hours.

Still not got around to putting any decs up, but I always used to put them up on 17th Dec the day before DD's birthday, so that is still ingrained I suppose. So this Sunday it is! Although we are off to a party Sat night, and staying over, so won't be back until Sunday afternoon.

Yes, our visit was to Lacock bluesapphire. It was Mr C’s idea to cheer me after feeling low post covid, it worked although the journey was tedious - two busy motorways aren’t my favourite - it was well worth it. We also managed to bring back some additional Christmas decorations after assuring each other we wouldn’t.

DGD’s school carol concert is this evening in church so I’ll turn out for that. She’s a teacher not a pupil. How the years fly by!

Good morning everyone from a damp Northampton, 6°C outside and showers forecast all day. Not venturing out today! Delivered the Christmas cards to all neighbours yesterday, but am still struggling with my ankle, as I discovered on the short walk to the hairdressers.
Was very pleased with my cut and colour yesterday, and gave my stylist a Christmas tip. Next appointment is February, well into the New Year!
Got my sewing done yesterday, re-attached the fur to a coat hood, and ran some fine elastic through the ribbing on a jumper as it was very baggy.

Sainsbury's delivery his morning, then will sit and read this afternoon; am really enjoying book 1 of the Cazalet Chronicles (by Elizabeth Jane Howard).

Glammagran and cornergran, love Whitehall garden centre (in Lacock?). Always used to visit on our excursions back to Wiltshire. Gorgeous cream cakes in the cafe..... Feeling quite homesick now.

The tree is now decorated, I had a cull of old baubles and tatty bits from the children’s infant school days, we’ll get some wrapping done today. I’m going for a hair cut and ear inspection for possible microsuction.

I'll walk to Wednesday morning coffee meetup by a circuitous route to deliver local cards.
Lidl this afternoon as supplies are running low. We are of the Urmstongran school of thought and don't do baking or batch cooking. Just nip out for what we fancy as and when.

Have woken with a sore throat which I hope won’t develop into anything more but think I will give singing a miss. Tree surgeon coming to deal with tree causing grief to my neighbour, present wrapping and local cards if I feel alive enough. Not exciting but good enough.

Yesterday I was out most of the day as the plumbers were here and the water was off. They’ve removed all the old bathroom and it looks very empty now. I’ll leave them to it today with DH in charge and go out to the gym and later pick up DGD for a sleepover tonight.
You’re not being a grump at all rosesandlilac, Christmas isn’t for everyone and if you feel like that it’s fine ❤️

Good morning from Cornwall where it's gently raining and blowing, but still very mild. Dreamt I was walking up a hilly motorway last night, no cars around me; these heart drugs do give me strange dreams. It's lovely that I never have crutches in my dreams, feels so freeing...

Have finished wrapping treasure hunt presents and put together the sock game, which everyone loves, for Christmas Day. One sock has a garlic clove in it, another a paperclip and so on... all socks tied tight so no peeping. My blind daughter was so put out the year her brother won it, as naturally you'd think she had the advantage. We still all laugh with her about it.

Off to Lidl's in an hour, a short bus trip away. Hope I may find a bargain veg box there. Hope also that it will fit in my back pack. Ever the optimist. 😂😂

Good morning all from a wet and windy North Leicestershire.

Wednesday is the day our brilliant cleaners come and DH makes himself scarce by going to the gym. Christmas wrapping was completed yesterday, the cards are all written and delivered so, today, will be a cooking day - primarily a few shepherd's pies in case the crowds descend after Christmas.

Wolfie was definitely enthusiastic yesterday and, of course, was by far the best donkey anyone could ask for.

Morning Mick, morning All from a calm corner of Somerset. It’s still very soggy out there, drove past so many flooded fields yesterday.

Enjoyed a morning in our town museum, it has interesting exhibits, enthusiastic and chatty volunteers as well as an excellent cafe. Haven’t been there for at least six years, we used to take our grandchildren. It’s amazing how much more we saw without them. .

Cards now finished, Mr C will deliver the local ones when I’m at a committee meeting this afternoon. Coughing although not gone has subsided to the point people will be able to hear each other. Coffee with neighbours this morning, looking forward to catching up.

We visited Whitehall last week glammagran, a fair trip from here but worth it as a sense of Christmas was sadly lacking. It was an annual treat when we lived in Wiltshire, the magic was still there. Those reindeer are just perfect.

Hope lunch exceeds expectations grandmattie. You may be pleasantly surprised.

We had a wonderfully supportive audience last night with much mirth and applause. A winning evening looked likely from the outset when they clapped after our first carol! Inevitably, we had to celebrate in the bar afterwards!

Good morning from south Gloucestershire, it’s been raining here overnight.
The opening hours are the same in Bath, seems so ridiculous when shops are complaining about lack of customers 🤷🏼‍♀️
Today I’m meeting my sister for coffee, I might wander around the shops afterwards.
Not a lot going on here, I have wrapped the presents and suggested to DH that he writes the Christmas cards this year (first time ever!). He will need to go and buy some more too.
If I’m honest I cba about Christmas, I’ve had too many years of dozing everything and getting nothing in return - not a single present last year.
Sorry for being a grump 😢

Good morning all.

DGS was an angel yesterday. A complete contrast to the demon child of a fortnight ago. We took him to Whitehalls garden centre where they had reindeer, black faced sheep, goats and donkeys and a great Christmas display. He ate really well too. I’m really concerned about his sister who is 5 who seems to be developing extreme aversions to most food. She flatly refuses to try anything new. Her mum has never had a sweet tooth but her daughter would just exist on sweet food if she could. The only thing she will eat at our house is macaroni cheese, most fruit and ice cream.

WWM2 I have never been able to make pastry but I only buy all butter shortcrust pastry. Waitrose were out of stock but I did get some from M&S yesterday. Not a fan of palm oil at all.

As other posters have mentioned I too have lost posts - it’s so frustrating. Now I use OneNote (sometimes email) to write posts and then copy and paste them into GN forums.

Cards written over the weekend and posted Monday morning. Have a good day everyone.

I am on a mission, have two jumper sleeves to make as well as sewing up. My dd1 or her dd will be wanting this jumper, it is very nice, the lovely yarn, in muted multi shades, makes it special

I want to keep plodding on with sewing my skirt, I will sew the waistband today, which leaves the buttons and hem for tomorrow. I think the fabric and zip for teenage dgd top will be here very soon and I want to make that by christmas. I have to prep for that

It is not going to be a crazy day, just plodding, with a brisk walk included. My first batch of pea and ham soup will also be made this morning.

Good morning from a rainy down South.
It had been getting drier by day. But a lot of rain has been falling over several nights.

I havent finished food planning for Chrismas yet. Going out tomorrow for some inspiration/to buy, some festive food goodies.
I might even buy a Yule Log Michael.

Good morning from Bristol. No rain today.
I too went shopping yesterday and was astonished at the number of shops (not posh) that only opened from10. I got the stuff I needed and came home. The streets and shops were not busy, pretty quiet, in fact. I got two “buy 2, get 3rd free” which pleased me.
I have finished my sailing boat quilt and am delighted with it. I hope the expectant parents will like it.
My painter is coming today, and the rest of the week, to finish my doors to his satisfaction, and start on my bedroom. Will be interesting! I don’t want him to do the living room this side of Christmas, and the spare room is packed to the gunwales with “stuff” awaiting furniture…
I’m joining some of the residents for a Christmas lunch. I loathe such events but want to show support and community spirit. And I’m not having turkey!
