What do you think is Naff?

This morning I was coming out of a blind junction, what did I see coming over the hill, a yellow car. They have their uses! 😂

My mother had a yellow car - very unusual then - in the mid 70s. Many years later, when she had dementia and I was taking her anywhere in the car, she’d say, ‘ I had a yellow car!’ every time we saw one.

Marydoll My granddaughter has introduced me to a very annoying game which I can't shake off. Whenever I see a yellow car I am now compelled to say Cheese on wheels!.
I love yellow cars as they are so visible on the road.

My husband was test driving his new car, but I decided to sit in the showroom. Feeling low, I had just been deemed unfit to work, through ill health and forced to retire.
I spotted this shiny, yellow car in the showroom. It was calling to me! By the time my husband came back, I had purchased it and signed the paper work.
There was a six week waiting list for delivery of both cars. Much to my husband's annoyance, my spanking new car was delivered weeks before his and I had no intention of changing mine in the first place. 😉

I hate to say this at this time of year but just about every modern manifestation of Christmas. Number ones and other naff pop songs, Chain store adverts on TV, Elves generally, office parties, tins of Quality Street, Christmas Specials on TV and having to see relatives you don't want to see and who don't want to see you and exchanging crummy gifts. BAH!! HUMBUG!!

After reading Sago's comment, I thought about changing my car. I would hate to be thought of as naff.

However, I've changed my mind, I love my yellow car!

I agree GG I don't understand making an analogy between a personal dislike and jumping to the conclusion you may not want to be helped/treated by a person who has tattoos. No I don't like them ,one of my sons has about 4 on his arms. Honestly it's no skin off my nose if a professional who could be treating me has them, why would it, I couldn't are less. I came to terms with my son's ages ago, just glad his brother decided to be different, different in not having any because everyman and his dog of a certain age seem to think it's somehow mandatory. I think the body is best unadorned by inkings, that's my opinion, I don't expect others to share it.

There seems to be a suggestion or two on this thread or maybe the other one about the superfluous baby headbands, just because posters admit to not liking those for example, they could be teetering on the edge of imparting that to whoever is responsible for placing it on the child's head. Shows a lack of joined up thinking imo.

If you are ill or in need the last thing one would worry about was if those helping/healing had tattoos, false eyelashes or plastic surgery…

If I or a family member were seriously ill , I wouldn’t care whether the doctor or nurse had tattoos.
Although In my experience hospital staff with tattoos on arms tend to wear long sleeved tops under their scrubs

Those signs with slogans, that say, for example, "Live,Laugh,Love" or "Wine O'Clock". There are plenty more examples but I try to look away when I see them on sale.

I agree. I didn’t know until my son was born and it was a wonderful surprise. Why do people feel the need to share these intimate details with all and sundry? Is it an excuse for a party and getting presents?

Gender reveal parties ! Amen to that. why would you want others to know your baby's gender before you do?
My late mother's generation had no way of knowing the baby's gender at all , I think. My mother was pleased enough that we had all our fingers and toes......

Being asked if I will ' step up ' . If you mean that you want me to do something for you then just say so , but don't imply that I am somehow morally obligated to do it .

Would you refuse help from a Policeman who had tattoos? I've seen hundreds of young and not so young police personnel,women as well as men with tattoos on arms and wrists and necks ...doesn't stop them doing their job.
So many of these "naff" things aren't naff at all,just taste thats not yours or you're just snobbish...thats much more likely the case.

I can't tell if someone has said this - but a serviette (in our home) is a paper/disposable table napkin and a napkin is the fabric one you put on your lap to protect your clothes whilst you eat... A nappy on the other hand is what Americans would call a diaper.

However, as one of our babies was born in America, I confess that the type of nappy we used for him in America will always be "diapers" in my thoughts - they wete very different!

GSM's list is pretty good. I'd add on shop assistants - or indeed anyone in conversation -- who keeps saying "perfect".

One of my special favs would be those nose 'adornments' that look like the wearer has a permanent large metal bogey just dangling from a nostril, sometimes both. It's a constant source of mystery just what help a plain (or worse) girl or woman is going to get from some metal face furniture or a set of ghastly tattoos drawing attention to invariably lumpy legs? It's EVEN odder to me why a pretty girl has such work done?! Do we see many film stars or TV presenters with a bull-ring in the nose and/or a tattooed chain round her neck?!

Doing the school run in pyjamas looks pretty naff, as (to me) is the ongoing trend for so many people to say "like" approximately every 3rd word, or starting a sentence with "I mean".

NB -- To the commenter (Sago?) calling yellow cars naff, they ARE easier to find in a big car-park (and I believe, less likely to get stolen?!)

I think to find umpteen surgical procedures to alter a woman's physical appearance that reduces them to an extreme caricature of the female form, is something that some will find damaging and irresponsible. Hence the comments!.Of course it is the business of the woman to do that to themselves. It does seem that well known personalities who go under the knife again and again influence a minority of other women to do the same. There have been a handful of deaths for such surgical procedures, particularly in countries such as Turkey where some women have gone to have their buttocks enhanced for example. In any event it's not a good look. I think it's a sad indictment of the way social media drives these trends along. There is nothing wrong with the natural looks of women, but I think there is some sort of addictive element to much of these unnecessary surgical procedures, ignoring the repeated risks of going under anaesthetic to what end? Quite often an end result that is quite extreme. I don't know what is remotely attractive in looking as if two inflatable skin matching footballs have somehow been attached to the chest. What a price to health and mental well being, there are obviously some deep lying addiction issues and a fear possibly of ageing always aware of the younger competitors coming up behind. Seems a sad way to live life.

I think fur babies are fluffy pets and when they die they go over the rainbow bridge. 🐱🌈
