What do you think is Naff?

I started this thread as a bit of fun and to cause hilarity such as Joseann’s fun dog looking rather proud of himself/herself!

For anyone who is offended I send my apologies.

I’ve got to an age of 77 when I say what I think and DH’s eyes rise to the ceiling 👀.

Alright “shattered” was a bit silly, pathetic even.

I'm certain if we own something it is naff.

Christmas pyjamas for everyone. None for the dogs.

We're enough outside lights to make it seem daylight. Enough blow up Santas, snowmen, and elf to fill a village (or grotto). The number winter pattern Winceyette sheets, throws, towels, and crockery items is daunting.

And one of us added a very large beautiful stag, doe and fawn - seems we weren't common enough prior to the family of deer arriving to the garden.

May I apply please? I have lots of snobbishness to offer.

Goodness Monica we must all get rid of all our keys immediately - who knew?

Family photos on walls. I am happy for them on mantlepieces or sideboards but NOT the walls. Hideous and tasteless. And decoupage photos. AWFUL. Girl baby headbands - ridiculous. Young men with trouser crotch so low it shows their underwear. Thigh boots - SO common except on fishermen. I agree with Calendargirl about bonding. And yes, Witzend, too many things to mention.

Annesixty no snobbery here, or very little, but a lot of tongue in cheekery.

I think this 'naff' list started with a high class interior designer Nicky Haslam. he prints a different list on a drying-upcloth each year and sells them for charity.

I don't think I am a snob, but I agree with well over 90% of the opinions voiced on this thread.

To think something looks silly or naff doesn’t make someone a snob. It’s all down to personal opinion and personal likes and dislikes.

Oh dear, I'm obviously the epitome of naffness. But happy with it.

^ It's not a big deal just a discussion point and reflecting on attitudes of a bygone era, exemplified by Nancy Mitford's writings highlights how attitudes are often generational and in her case of a certain demographic^.

I did read some time ago that Mitford's article was written as a bit of a joke...

One person’s naffness is another person’s favourite.

I think what i used to call naff or common has become more "commonplace" so these things have now trickled into every day life phrases actions etc i even use some myself but the thing that gives me the ick lol (great saying) is young kids using americanisms x
