It was only for a taxi fare, for a max 20 minute ride, from DD’s into central Oxford.

First was £41!! - ordinary saloon car, nothing special.
2nd, which we took, was £10.80!

We were off to a carol concert where Gdd1 was singing, in the magnificent Sheldonian theatre in Oxford, where Handel conducted his first Messiah outside London, in 1731 IIRC.

The adult Bach choir and Youth choir were also singing, besides Gdd1’s primary age choir.

Mostly lovely trad carols but some great fun pieces, too. Very Christmassy! 🎄

We have a very good local taxi firm, but along came a rival company. Don’t think they’ll last long though! Apparently, they charge a fair bit more, plus when it’s raining their charge is even higher! - amongst other things!

When I couldn’t get a cab from the original firm, as they were so busy, I tried the new lot. They refused to come out because it was only a short run! To the original firm, short runs are their bread and butter.
