And thank you all for your concern. I am very touched.
I was ambushed again, but the “fight” took longer to win this time.
I’m ok ATM and plan to be all day! (Ha!)
So cross, my poor dried up pots….

Today’s ear worm is ‘O for a Thousand Tongues’!
My ‘anti-ear-worm’ tune is “I heard the voice of Jesus say”…
Good morning all from a rainy Glasgow, where it is 12°C.
A very busy thread this morning and lots of sad news.
I have had a dreadful night, woke up at 3am with a dreadful itch on my face (antibiotics?) and the cough is back! Grrr. I thought I was a last getting rid of it, after six months.
I plan to go slowly today and pace myself. DS1 is picking up the turkeys from the butcher's first thing. We usually go together, but I am not up to it. I plan to start the prep today.
He has stopped coming for Christmas dinner, because if we ask his inlaws, they ruin it and if my son comes here, they time how long DIL spends with us. 😔 I have accepted that it can't happen.
Mizuna, I hope your son is ok, it doesn't sound good and Corner, fingers crossed for the car diagnostics.
My mum used to get very low at Christmas, GM, be kind to yourself and try and rest.
Lastly, a dreadful shock for you and your family BlueSapphire .💐
Wishing all those spending time with their families a joyful day and for those with pain and sadness, a peaceful one.
One last thing. Over the last few days, I have received unexpected PMs from Gransnetters, I don't know well. I want to thank you for your kindness, it has given me such a boost. 💕
So sorry, Blue. 😢
Good morning from Colchester which is set for a mild day with some sunshine.
DS's GF will be here later so Christmas can begin with games, chat and laughter. I haven't set a menu but there's plenty of choice in the fridge/freezer and DH will choose and cook. I am the pot washer.
Sending hugs to all who needs one especially Bluesapphire and love to all 🦩 x
Good morning everyone from Cambridge where it looks a bit wet and windy
So sorry to hear such sad news BlueSapphire sending condolences to the whole family 💐
It’s my last day here in Cambridge, I’ve enjoyed it so much but I’m travelling back home later today, can’t say I’m looking forward to the busy journey much. All being well DH will pick me up from Inverness airport this evening
Your holiday sounds lovely Sar enjoy the hotel festive celebrations
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
BlueSapphire such sad news for you💐
mizuma I have my grandfathers book of hymns. He was in a Methodist men’s choir and travelled all over Cornwall and beyond. That version is in there. I can’t say it is a favourite of mine though, to me it “jars”.
How very sad BlueSapphire my condolences to you, what a shock.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and damp. BlueSapphire such sad news for you. GrandMattie I hope today is a better one for you.
Yesterday I visited my friend's partner with gifts and cards. He was very upset because he had received cards for my friend and had to tell the senders she had died, which brought it all back to him. Thank goodness he's going to his sister's for Christmas. In the afternoon I visited mum. She was sleeping mostly but managed a little conversation. I took her some Christmas cake. My lovely neighbour handed in gifts for the boys. They were unexpected but very welcome. At night dd, sil and I visited my aunt and uncle. We had a lovely meal and Christmas quiz then a little karaoke.
A combination of rich food and wine meant I didn't sleep well but I'm heading to Tesco soon. Then later this morning I'll visit a friend to exchange gifts. Later I'll do the usual housework and have a nap. Have a good day all
ash, I just had to try your link. Beautiful tune, but I’ve never heard that rendition before, even though I was a Methodist brought up in a mining village. While browsing YouTube I came across While Shepherds Watch sung to the tune of On Ilkley Moot by t’at. Most unusual. (I can’t do links either) 😀
Have good day everyone. I’ll be back later to read your posts
Good morning Mick and everyone from a dark and dry day here on the east coast of Fife.
I hope my plans to be picked up tomorrow can still go ahead I’ve a dreadful cold which is going around but I’ve got the cold remedies to hand hoping they’ll sort me out.
Have a lovely Christmas my friends
blue sapphire such sad news.
Today’s ear worm is ‘O for a Thousand Tongues’!
Such sad news Blue Sapphire. 🌹
Good morning from a quiet but forecast sunny South Downs.
Today my daughter and I are meeting up on our annual get together ( we meet up at other times of course, but make this special). This year we’ve decided to have afternoon tea at a very smart hotel in the middle of Sussex, after a walk if it is dry - which it is (taking our wellies) at Knepp, which is just up the road from my daughters village.
DH and I were asked to a pre-Christmas bash this evening, but we have declined as it will be very crowded and there is a lot of covid around, we have made our excuses and I have sent over big plate of sausage rolls I made yesterday.
This morning I will finish off the Christmas ham, which is sitting in its stock at the moment ready to be roasted and glazed.
Peace and harmony to all
Oh BlueSapphire, so sorry.
I’m so sorry BlueSapphire
How lovely. Thank you. I've never met anyone outside Cornwall who's heard of the tune!
Good morning all from rainy South Lanarkshire.
Enjoy your nephew’s visit Mick.
gM hoping for a better day for you.
The wandering choir sounds wonderful Mizuma, everything crossed for your son.
Hoping *Marydoll is feeling a bit better.
Today will be spent at home getting organised for being away for a couple of nights at DD’s house.
I’m off to listen to those YouTube links.
Have the best day possible everyone.
A very subdued good morning from a dry and windy Northampton.
Terrible news for our family; my DBrother-in-law (my late sister's husband) had a massive stroke on Wednesday evening, was rushed to hospital, had surgery to remove a blood clot; sadly the damage to his brain was too great and he passed away yesterday evening. We are all in a state of shock at the suddenness of it. He leaves a long-term partner, (my sister died over 20 years ago), a daughter and two teenage grandchildren. I had known him since the late 1960s, when he first started dating and then married my sister. He was 77.
Will just have to carry on today, and do what I had planned, but with a heavy heart.
Good morning from our hotel in Madeira.
Yesterday we got the hotel shuttle bus into Funchal and then took the cable car up to the top of the hills. What a view, stunning. We watched people get into the baskets that would take them back down. Not for me, we went back down the same way we came up.
Today is the start of a special Christmas programme here at the hotel.
We may have a swim later, I believe DH wants to try the steam room.
Hopefully a better day for you GM.
I hope everyone has a lovely day xxx
Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Have a nice day with your nephew, Mick. It’s dry, but cooler this morning in South Yorkshire - thankfully the wind seems to have dropped. I walked to the supermarket yesterday and it was heaving. Fortunately I only wanted a few things. My plans to make the mince pies were postponed as I decided to make gingerbread men instead. I will ice those today and if they don’t look too much of a dog’s dinner, give some to the little ones next door. Mince pies today, then; sausage rolls tomorrow. They should cool in time for me to take them to DD’s, where I’ll be staying until Boxing Day.
Have the best day you can folks.
It's still Friday night here in British Columbia. Drizzly and damp for now, but high winds are expected for tomorrow.
I have plans to pick up some sewing supplies with my 8 yr old grand daughter. I enrolled her in a beginner's sewing course that starts the first week of January. Since we are going away on the 28th, I wanted to do the shopping together before we leave. A bit of last minute wrapping and I'm pretty much ready for Christmas.
Have a good day everyone.

*Mizuna*: I much prefer the tune of Lyngham for While Shepherds Watched, which others may recognise as used for O For A Thousand Tongues. Apparently, it’s commonly heard in Methodist and mining communities. Here’s the link:-

Lovely tune. I know “Oh for a thousand tongues” in a completely different tune!
