I am definitely a pragmatist. I make lists and try to plan for all eventualities. That doesnt mean to say I cant change my plans. But I hate having things "sprung" on me. Thats probably why I hate unexpected visiters.

Yes I lean towards this.
Like you I hate unexpected visitors. Mainly because I would be embarrassed if the place or myself didn't look tidy.
My husband says I'm mad to worry as they won't care, they might not, but I do.

I find it also fascinating. The ideal was apparently to have a perfect blend of the four ‘humours’ as they were called. Shakespeare describes Brutus, the hero of Julius Caesar, as having the elements ‘so mixed in him’ as to be the perfect man. The more modern approach is to assess the personality according to five aspects:
Extroversion
Openness to experience
Conscientiousness
Agreeableness
Neuroticism

Of course it is but quite interesting to roughly, in your mind, categorise personalities on here

Seems that I am a mixture of melancholic and phlegmatic. I definitely get the latter from my late dad.

I remember doing this on a training course and think I came out as phlegmatic, which disappointed me at the time, but actually was quite accurate. Well, I am generally relaxed!

Hi all I’m new to the group. So here goes, My partner is 50 and I’m 39. He has two children from his marriage. We have been together 20 years and have a son aged 8 we recently found out he’s going to be a grandfather In July which is wonderful news I’m happy for his son and girlfriend.
The thing is we were together for 7 years before I found out that he was married (but separated) with two children. It was a huge shock as he’d told me he didn’t see or speak to his family we had also been living together for years at this point we had also sadly suffered a still birth when all this came to light. Things at the time was very hard to deal with I just kept finding out lie after lie!
Obviously we decided to give things a go and we’ve been happy we see his kids often and enjoy doing things as a family.
Since finding out the news of the new baby he’s been looking at pictures of his ex NOT his kids but the ex! And he’s called me her name on a few occasions I really don’t know what to make of this I’m begging to feel like ‘the other woman’ all over again.
I have tried speaking to him about it but he shuts me down or we start arguing which is not what either of us need. I honestly don’t know what to do I love this man with all my heart.

You’re lucky Fancythat you sound well balanced. I’m about 90% Activist and I do things far too quickly without thought just because it’s my trigger reaction. But it does work in my/their favour when they ask at my WI for a volunteer for something and I hear myself saying yes before I know what it is, and usually I have fun doing it.

Honey and Mumford’s Learning Styles were a revelation when I learnt about them when on a Teacher Training course. They are broken into 4 Learning Styles of which you can be one predominantly or a mix of the other styles.

I found out I was predominantly an Activist which is why I often make decisions quickly with little forethought, I’m up for trying anything out and why when I read an article I often read the beginning and end and skip the boring stuff 🤪.

I am married to a theorist who is meticulous in everything he does, the opposite to me. I recognise a Reflector say someone who is slow to react to situations as they are thinking it out. Then finally there is a pragmatist who is very hands on, makes lists and works things out systematically.

I would recommend you do the questionnaire online free. It will explain why you do things in a certain way.

Whilst I was teaching a student asked why I didn’t do things in a logical order, that’s Activists for you.

That's interesting. I think I'm mainly melancholic too, but with shades of being more phlegmatic as I age.
