Good Morning Everyone,
Dark with rain here in brackley this morning.
Yesterdays trip out saw more people heading to Bicester Village Designer outlet mainly from overseas looking for bargains , it looked like a slow start as few people about earlier .
Today will do bus trip with aims of getting a cafe stop as well .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning everyone from a very wet and windy Inverness, just switched over to the desktop site, thanks to another gnetter for letting me know
So sorry to hear your sad news Susan sending condolences to you and your family
So pleased to have power this morning after a challenging day yesterday
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Liberty Thu 28-Dec-23 08:41:07

A mild and damp morning in Suffolk which I hope is a good one for all.

Sincere condolences Susan . As others have said,I hope you take comfort from knowing your MiL is now at peace.

Today is DH’s birthday and we are due to go out for lunch. DGD2 developed tonsillitis when she was here last week and DH developed a sore throat last night and had a disturbed sleep. So lunch out is on hold till we see how he feels mid morning. I may have to cancel our table.

Our wedding anniversary is on 22 December so we usually feel ‘celebrated out’ by this time in December!

Thinking of those experiencing atrocious weather in different parts of the country and those with other upsets and worries.

Good morning from our last full day in Madeira. We've had a great holiday but I'm looking forward to getting home tomorrow.
A lazy day today, reading and later packing up.
Enjoy your day everyone xx

annsixty Thu 28-Dec-23 08:36:38

Sincere condolences to Susan and her family.

annsixty Thu 28-Dec-23 08:35:47

Good morning all.
A rare visitor to posting but I do read everyday.
Alygran how kind of you to think of me and please, as I am mostly housebound unless taken out, perhaps you can try to make time to visit me when you are next in my vicinity.
I should love to meet you.
It is dark but mild here and I shall be having a lazy day “for a change”.

Gingster Thu 28-Dec-23 08:30:15

Me too Kalu. No problems on my I pad!

Still very windy here in Essex.

A nice cosy day indoors yesterday. I did take little pooch over the fields which was foolhardy as it was muddy, soggy and breezy. Never mind, she had a much needed run around.

Today I have bowls club and then I’m taking Dd and little DGD to the Panto. ‘Oh yes I am’. 🤣.

Susan so sorry to hear of the loss of your MIL. 💐. Hope all goes well for your surgery today.

I hope those in the flood areas are coping ok. 🙏.

Take care all. 💨☔️🌧️.

Grandmachrisy47 Thu 28-Dec-23 08:23:59

Condolences,Susan and hope your procedure goes well.
Safe travels to those on the move. Hope poorlies get relief.

Grammaretto Thu 28-Dec-23 08:13:48

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Dark and cold. My Gransnet is also encrypted but thanks to Aveline I have changed to desktop mode. I don't find this easy so please GNHQ call technical services 😄

So sorry Susan . flowers

DD in the Highlands has had no power since yesterday's blizzards. They cooked soup on the wood burner which took 3 and a half hours and ate it by candlelight.

My nearer DGC are coming to do pottery with me this afternoon and bringing friends. We watched the Throwdown together and the plan is to make nest boxes. personally, if I were a bird, I'd prefer wood

Have the best day everyone and no Kissing the sales!!!~😉

Alygran Thu 28-Dec-23 08:12:25

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s still very windy but the rain has stopped for now. The main road to town is closed because of flooding. It’s the third time in a few months and is an inconvenience but nothing like others are enduring elsewhere.
Susan condolences to you and your family. I hope the procedure goes well.
I was in Stockport yesterday and thought of Ann60. Perhaps she is reading 👋
Today I should be taking my neighbour to her gp appointment. It may depend on the roads! Otherwise a quiet day.
Have a good day everyone.

Kalu Thu 28-Dec-23 08:01:46

I don’t have any of the technical problems mentioned, I am using my iPad.

Kalu Thu 28-Dec-23 07:56:01

Good morning from Glasgow. I can hear blustery winds but no sign of rain…yet.

DD1 called yesterday telling me GD2 has tonsillitis again, the third time in a matter of months. Not only does she bear a strong resemblance to me plus a pesky double crown, she has inherited my susceptibility to tonsillitis which plagued me for years until they were removed when I was 21. A tonsillectomy may be on the cards for her too. Poor girl has had to shelve her plans of spending time with friends during the break.

Due to this miserable weather, it’s another at home day. I have a choice of starting some knitting or reading a new book, whatever mood takes me.

So sorry to read your sad news Susan. It was a relief for your MiL but so difficult for those left behind. 💐
Hoping you hospital procedures go well.
I had forgotten an Agatha Christie was on last night GM, I may watch it today.

I recently watched Maestro, which I personally thought was overhyped but that is only my opinion.

Have a pleasant day and I hope a kinder day is ahead for all with worried minds and struggles.

Pittcity Thu 28-Dec-23 07:54:14

Switched to desktop site.
Sending hugs to Susan 🫂

karmalady Thu 28-Dec-23 07:46:46

Good morning, mostly dry and sunny later, some remaining gusts.

I had a nice day yesterday, gentle and varied, nice food and a good film on premium. I am using the 30 day free trial and will cancel before the 30 days is up. I sewed another front pocket on my bag and today will deal with the lining, adding a zipped pocket to that and am on schedule to finish the bag by new year

Car boot needs to be filled today as I am having an early start to wales tomorrow, just before dawn. I don`t like the M5 and M4 at the best of times, they are always rammed full of cars. I think the weather will be decent for driving and any floods should have gone down by then. I will be back home by dusk and will do no more travelling for a couple of weeks

Have a good day

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 28-Dec-23 07:45:13

Good morning from a damp Oxfordshire, what awful weather yesterday! No sales for us as we don’t need anything.
MzOops took nearly 6 hours to get back to Cornwall yesterday, she avoided the motorways as there seemed to be so many problems, so a long drive but no mishaps or long queues.
It’s getting windy again, it sounds as though the storm isnt finished with us yet.
Susan condolences to you and your family💐
I’m sitting with the curtains open waiting for the dustbin chaps to arrive, as theirs is the only Christmas box envelope I haven’t been able to hand over, let’s hope they don’t come when I’m not sitting in the front room.
Have a good day everyone.

Marydoll Thu 28-Dec-23 07:39:12

I use the desktop site on all my devices, including tablets and phone. I find it so much easier to navigate.

Marydoll Thu 28-Dec-23 07:37:06

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow.

Susan, I am so sorry to hear your sad news. I hope your procedure goes well for you today. You must be exhausted. 💐

Yesterday, I was the only person in the salon, which suited me. I wasn't up for socialising, this chronic pain makes me very introverted. ( I know, difficult to believe! 😉)
To top it all the usual ten minute drive home was scary, due to badly flooded roads.

I tried to catch up with parish admin, but made a total hash of the latest rotas and after emailing them to the relevant parties, a few friends commented that I had invented a whole new calendar! I couldn't concentrate, but will have another attempt today.

Thinking of the nany on here, who struggle on a daily basis, I pray you have a gentle day.

Pittcity Thu 28-Dec-23 07:33:00

Good morning from a dark windy Colchester.
I can't read any other posts as GN is all gobbledegook this morning.
I'm full of cold so pottering and changing the bed today. Will send DH for supplies. We didn't do Christmas here and so have no leftovers to work through.
Love to all 🦩 x

Greyduster Thu 28-Dec-23 07:27:10

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Dry at the moment in South Yorkshire. The weather was dire yesterday; very wet and very windy - we had two power cuts in the afternoon while I was making a curry, so it took rather longer than normal. DS and his crew are coming down today for lunch. I haven’t seen their boys (well, men now) for some time so there will be a lot of catching up to do.
Susan I’m so sorry for your loss💐.
Have the best day you can folks.

It’s a problem on the mobile site - OK on the desktop site. Been reported to GNHQ

I may as well write my morning update but it will probably turn into gobbledygook like everyone else’s!
Morning everyone from a very blowy West Oxfordshire.
Daughter has gone back to London but younger son is still here for a few days. We have to move some furniture, we ate Christmas lunch in the Conservatory so need to swop things back.
I will do a Waitrose shop later. We will finish the leftovers today but otherwise the cupboards are bare.
Did anyone watch the Agatha Christie last night? I’m all for diversity, but that was not the story which she wrote.
Have a good day everyone. I hope the Gransnet gremlins can be cleared!

harrigran Thu 28-Dec-23 07:04:26

Good morning from a damp NE where the wind has moderated a little.
It was a successful shopping trip yesterday, getting all I need for the weekend meals plus DD and I bought half price jumpers and reduced boxes of chocolates.
We cooked dinner together, SIl and I had boeuf bourguignon and DD had vegetable paella, we opened a very decent bottle of wine and had a leisurely meal.
Today I have the house to myself so will do some tidying round and sorting of clothes.
Sorry for your loss Susan 💐

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 28-Dec-23 07:03:01

Something has gone terribly wrong!

cornergran Thu 28-Dec-23 06:49:46

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset seems calmer today, very wild and wet at times yesterday.

Did very little yesterday, feeling stir crazy we headed for the sea front in a dry spell, found the wind was just too strong for us to walk in so sat and watched other hardy souls for a while

Coffee with neighbours this morning, we’ll laugh I’m sure, always do. Will head out after lunch to get flowers or a maybe plant for our elder son who is hosting a family get together tomorrow. He’d love either and enjoys hosting, we’re looking forward to everything other than the two motorways there and back.

Sad news susan. You must be exhausted flowers. My love to you and the family.

I’ve been awake since silly o’clock, had a cuppa at 4.30, there will be another soon when Mr C wakes. I’ll be tired later. Just hope I don’t disgrace myself and nod off over coffee and biscuits.

Hope Thursday is kind to us all.
