Good Morning Everyone,
Dark with rain here in brackley this morning.
Yesterdays trip out saw more people heading to Bicester Village Designer outlet mainly from overseas looking for bargains , it looked like a slow start as few people about earlier .
Today will do bus trip with aims of getting a cafe stop as well .
Take Care,
Mick

I couldn't access GN on my mobile or my Kindle. What is desk top?
Has anyone heard from GN what the problem was and how it happened. Was the site hacked? I was going to report it but couldn't see how to do it.

*All over not allowed 😬

So sorry to hear your news Susan sending my condolences to you. Hoping your medical procedures have gone smoothly.

I’m not feeling brilliant today I woke up with an attack of vertigo. I was half expecting it after watching a TV programme where the camera work was allowed the place leaving me feeling queasy. It seems to be passing over thankfully.

Grandmabatty Thu 28-Dec-23 15:59:02

I'm just able to get on, thanks to the corruption. I hadn't realised the desktop version was accessible. Susan I'm very sorry to hear about your mil. My heartfelt condolences.
I'm heading to a friend's house later for a catch-up with former colleagues. I'm not really looking forward to it but I'm sure I'll enjoy myself once there

GrannySomerset Thu 28-Dec-23 14:09:38

Not sure why I keep typing d instead of s!

GrannySomerset Thu 28-Dec-23 14:08:31

DD and co have left for Liverpool via lunch with DSiL’s brother in Cheltenham do towels and some bedding in washing machine, food oddments eaten for lunch, and a quiet few days ahead about which I feel unsure as I have enjoyed having people in the house despite the occasional drama, as when DD dropped the fish pie which was our supper. Cupboard fronts and floor finally sorted out and it was as well we had ham and lots of cheese to replace the pie.

Meanwhile I have a baking session for a friend’s little party tomorrow - mince pies, since DGD1 laid claim to my supply, and sausage rolls. Nothing difficult do what could possibly go wrong?

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 28-Dec-23 13:52:00

Neither can I - but I can on my iPad.

Hiraeth Thu 28-Dec-23 13:32:00

Very odd, I can’t read any gransnet messages on my iPhone but on my I- pad I can !

Purplepixie Thu 28-Dec-23 12:51:43

Good afternoon from a very windy East Midlands.

Ziplok Thu 28-Dec-23 11:08:20

Good morning,

It was a brighter start today after a day of rain and strong winds yesterday (and through the night). However, it’s beginning to cloud up again, so I expect more rain is on the way.

I had a very lazy day yesterday, just pottering, reading and watching tv as it wasn’t fit to venture out anywhere. I’m not bothered about the sales theses days. Crowds no longer suit me.

Condolences to you and your family Susan.

Stilllearning Thu 28-Dec-23 10:29:26

Morning from South Lanarkshire, horrible journey home yesterday but that may have been partly caused by exhaustion,
A really lovely few days with DD and family bu I slept all afternoon when I got home!

Catch up lunch with friends today and more rest, confirmation of advancing age😳.

Condolences to Susan and family and best wishes for procedure.

Have a good day all.

hollysteers Thu 28-Dec-23 10:20:12

Good morning Mick and all from a dull northwest coast.
DGD here yesterday which was nice and we all had a quiet day together. She’s back to university soon and I don’t see as much of her these days.
DD 50th birthday today and I will join her and her friends this evening for drinks, but won’t stay long.
Condolences Susan💐and thought to all gransnetters 🎄🌺

Good morning everyone from a brightening and windy Northampton, rain forecast later.

Gobbledygook on my mobile and Kindle tablet, but desktop format is ok. Glad it's not just me.

So sorry to hear about your MIL, Susan, condolences to you and your family.

A quiet day in yesterday once all visitors had gone. Spent some time sending my DB an email with reminiscences of our DB-in-law.
Sorted out left over food; made a huge turkey and ham stew in the pressure cooker, 4 portions in all - one to have tonight and three for the freezer.
Had turkey sandwich for lunch, and ham, egg and chips for dinner.
Started washing all the used towels then watched a lot of catch-up tv.

Similar plans for today.
Wishing all a.good day.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 28-Dec-23 10:09:35

Morning all, one family have left us (beds stripped and in washing machine) eldest son and wife are leaving sometime today.

Our guest bathroom shower has stopped working 😡, more expense (despite eldest son and DH up in the loft with the well tried method of hitting motor with a hammer, men!!!)

Have to pootle down to the local shop to sort out a tech problem with a GC Christmas gift. Then it’s back to my sofa to peruse the sales, I am after a Dualit toaster, new bedding and towels.

My sincere condolences Susan 💐

Enjoy your day whatever you are doing, safe travels to those venturing afield 😘

RosiesMaw Thu 28-Dec-23 10:02:52

Good morning - looks as if it’s going to be a fine day here in N Bucks.
I had a really lovely Christmas in London with the DDs and members of DHs family and it was just the right length! Christmas Day, Boxing Day, the next morning then home to my own bed! Fiendish journey though, both the M25 and M1 were as bad as I have ever seen them with 40mph speed limits most of the way as well as heavy rain and poor visibility so it took me over 3 hours instead of the easy hour and a quarter on Christmas morning. I was just in time to collect Rosie before the kennels closed and both she and I collapsed and slept when we got in!
A healthy walk I think today, but it will need wellies then I need to restock the fridge which is looking neglected. Hope there are lots of yellow stickers!
I hope that “busyness” of the last few days has been pleasurable for you, especially those with their families and my sincere condolences to Susan . It’s never really “for the best” is it, losing a mother is one of life’s major sadnesses.
But it’s onwards now to see what 2024 brings us - not sure how much I am looking forward to that if at all!

Beechnut Thu 28-Dec-23 09:36:25

Happy Birthday to MrLiberty and belated anniversary wishes to you both 🥂💐

Beechnut Thu 28-Dec-23 09:24:13

Good morning everyone from Severnside. Swiftly moving clouds and brighter.

Sending my condolences to you and your family Susan 💐

I have to mend my chair as the screw has come out again and then I’ll potter and think about a birthday card to make.
Have the best day you can all 🎄🌺

monk08 Thu 28-Dec-23 09:23:29

Good morning all from the Black country dry but windy.
Another fence panel down and still unable to contact the neighbours landlord, this one has broke one of my garden ornaments.
Will have a wander round local shops today having not been outside since Sunday feel in need of a change.
Condolences to you and your family Susan 💐 hope all goes well with your procedure today.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️

Urmstongran Thu 28-Dec-23 09:16:51

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s mild after torrential rain during the night. We are driving over to have drinks with my uncle in Oldham early afternoon picking up my stepfather en route. We all enjoy each other’s company but when I sit there it brings it home how much I miss my mum and aunt. Empty chairs remind me and I feel sad.

No Matt.

No gobbledygook on my iPad but my iPhone is still weird!

baubles Thu 28-Dec-23 09:13:52

Weird goings on this morning on Gransnet

This is what I’m seeing.

Jaxjacky Thu 28-Dec-23 09:13:35

Morning from a calmer S Hampshire, very windy last night.
Sorry to hear about the death of your MIL Susan, thoughts with your family.
Not much on today, washing is the priority.
Have a decent day if you can.

RosesandLilac Thu 28-Dec-23 09:12:03

Good morning from a bright, pale blue skied hillside in the Cotswolds, hoping it stays dry. DS and his family arrived yesterday, so lovely seeing them all again.
They’re off for a dog walk this morning, hopefully a not too muddy one!
Take care everyone 🌹

luluaugust Thu 28-Dec-23 09:10:30

Good morning from a blowy W Kent. DB left to go home yesterday and got stuck for nearly an hour trying to get to the Dartford crossing his journey took over an hour longer in consequence. I tidied up a little bit and then slept half the afternoon.
Today we are off to DF's for the mornin, a ritual we have had for nearly 50 years!
Susan my condolences to you and the family.
All the best

Baggs Thu 28-Dec-23 09:04:52

Good morning from a still soggy Boggy Brae. We dealt with yesterday’s overflows into the mud room (as usual!). It’s on the upslope of the hill and the drain has to deal with a large part of what comes off the roof and a good deal of the water-logged garden as well. Hey ho.

Condolences on the death of your mil, Susan. The relief that suffering is over for someone covers the sadness, doesn’t it? We felt the same when my mum died. flowers

It is a relief for us that BTDD is feeling more comfortable now after her meds have been changed. I think that today the rest of her little family are going over to the OGs where there will be a Madness of Cousins, but DD will probably rest at home.

I shall continue with my Geoff Kersey tutorial and splashing some paint around. Nice to know he’s from your part of the country, greyduster. My dad’s family was from that area too.

Wishing dry days for the over-soaked and damp days for the parched 🌼
