Good morning from a dull South Downs, where gales are forecast for later.

Nothing planned, so will potter through the day and see what materialises.

Pasta with sweet pepper sauce for supper.

Peace and harmony to all

Good morning from a rather damp Cotswold hillside.
I was completely exhausted by the time everyone left yesterday, I went to bed mid afternoon because I didn’t know what to do with myself 😵‍💫. All the Christmas stuff has been put away and the house is tidy.
Consequently I slept badly but at least I don’t have anything planned for the next few days.

On Boxing Day I spent several hours having a really good sort out of my yarn stash etc, I put a big black bag of yarn up for grabs on the local Facebook and it was taken within 3 minutes!
My yarn is now all under my ottoman bed so I know exactly what I have, my craft room/little bedroom cupboard is tidy and I actually feel rather pleased with myself 😊

Today I am going to play with my new art materials that I treated myself to for my birthday and Christmas, knowing that I wouldn’t get any presents other than from my friend, and I hope to start a coloured pencils online course. I have also booked some online sessions starting on New Year’s Day.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend 🌹

Good morning from Shropshire. Can hear rain against the window.

DD1 and my niece went to mums yesterday so I could rest. She had improved slightly from the day before.A difficult situation made worse by the fact none of us live near her.

DH collected the children late afternoon for a sleepover.Like Dollie they just wanted to snuggle ☺️No idea of plans for today.

DGD said the Wonka film is amazing grandMattie.

Safe travels Ash and Sar and any others on the move.

Have missed Blossoming posting and hope she is ok.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Good morning all.

Yesterday was spent recovering from a family party the day before at DD2’s. Way too much food and drink was consumed. We got a taxi home and DD1 and family stayed over. DS and family had to return home an hour away as they had swimming commitments yesterday. The cousins aged between 18 and 2 all enjoyed each others company and we saw little of them.

Braced for gusty winds for most of today. I’ll have go out for a few food items later. I haven’t been out to the shops for 10 days.

Wishing everyone a good last Saturday of this year.

Good morning everyone from a still dark but dry Northampton, feeling quite chilly until I put the heating on.

Had a good shopping trip yesterday especially as I met four friends, stopped and had a good chat with each. One of them was an ex-teaching colleague who I hadn't seen in ages; we now have plans to meet up with possibly another two colleagues for lunch in the New Year.
Also made arrangements via text to meet up with another GNetter a couple of times in the New Year.

I bought a set of new towels in Sainsbury's sale yesterday which I didn't really need, but I was drawn to the colour, a lovely golden yellow stripe, and had to have them.....

Sadly my garage freezer appears to be on its last legs, and it looks as though I may have to throw out everything in it; despite turning the thermostat to the coldest, it is still not freezing anything, and the thermometer reads 40°F! Thank goodness the kitchen freezer is ok.

Should be going to rugby this afternoon, but I don't really feel like turning out in the cold, so I shall watch it on tv from the comfort of my armchair.
Tonight a short walk to a neighbour four doors away who is having a mulled wine party, which I am quite looking forward to.

Have a good Saturday everyone.

Jaxjacky Sat 30-Dec-23 07:57:47

Morning Mick and all, it’s dry and mild in S Hants, as karmalady we’re on a high wind warning for two days.
That’s annoying Sar fingers crossed for later.
Not much on today, bit of a tidy up and duck out of the freezer for tomorrow.
Safe travels Ash and anyone else on the road.

Good morning from a cold and frosty NE.
Had to set the alarm to make sure I got the wheelie bin out, it is recycling today and it is full.
Managed to do some housework yesterday but also watched another TV series, all three episodes of Time, well written and good acting.
Sister and BIL will probably visit this afternoon but the rest of the family are doing their own thing and I will not have to cook a big meal tonight.
Have a good day and safe travels.

Alygran Sat 30-Dec-23 07:48:09

Good morning from North Yorkshire. The wind has dropped and it’s dry. Hopefully the flooded roads will improve.
Early shopping trip planned and DD2 will be here at lunchtime until Monday. I’m not sure what we will do - it depends very much on the weather.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is -2°C with snow showers forecast. 🥶

I am going to get out early, if I can get moving, to pick up a few essentials. DH awoke at 3am to find me sitting on the edge of the bed, waiting for my pain to settle.
I have made the decision to phone my R.A. consultant and discuss starting yet another new biologic treatment. I cannot go on like this, but wanted time to weigh up the pros and cons..
Yesterday, I went to pick up a special request for extra strong Ibruprofen gel. It wasn't there. The receptionist argued I needed to speak to a doctor, despite requesting it days ago and having had it previously. She told me, that despite being in the surgery, I would need to go home and phone the doctor !!!
After a lengthy discussion, she agreed to send a message to the locum on call. Ten minutes later, my phone rang, while I was driving home . Your prescription is waiting for you in reception! 😡

We had a lovely day with Dollie yesterday, thank goodness she was happy to cuddle up to me and play her Nintendo Switch. I had no energy for entertaining.
We decided to have a game of the Rome version of Monopoly. It was hilarious, because the instructions were in Italian and we hadn't a clue what the Chance cards were saying.😂
DH and I were counting our moves in Italian and not to be left out, Dollie, decided to count in French.
DS came in find me delivering a maths lesson to Dollie on how to exchange a 100€ note to pay her debts. Every day is a school day! 😉

I hope you arrive home safely Sar and you get to see the film, GM.
Safe travels to all and thinking of those for whom life is problematic and difficult at the moment.

Have a good day, folks.

A calm dark start in West Oxfordshire. I got extremely wet on my dog walk yesterday but no sooner had I got home dripping wet, the sun came out!
An early food delivery, so I must get up. A walk this morning and some tidying, the tree is still up and the lights brighten these dark days. The wreath that I made is looking a little battered on the front door though.
I visited the sales yesterday and all restrain flew out of the window, I love a bargain!
Wishing you all a good day, safe travels to those on the move.

luluaugust Sat 30-Dec-23 07:42:58

Good morning from W Kent. A day of cooking for me as the family are coming for lunch tomorrow. I am doing a cold meat lunch so cooking everything today and hoping I can then cope tomorrow.
Best wishes to all

Good morning from a dark, damp Colchester. We slept better last night but still have coughs and sniffles. A quiet weekend here.
Love to all 🦩 x

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 30-Dec-23 07:33:43

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
I’ve no idea what I’m doing today! Possibly laundry and cooking.
Have a good day everyone.

kittylester Sat 30-Dec-23 07:24:28

Good morning all from North Leicestershire where is dark and quiet.

Today I need to nip to Waitrose for a few bits and then I have an afternoon of tv catchup scheduled.

Have the best day possible everyone!

Ashcombe Sat 30-Dec-23 07:19:42

Good morning from a calm and peaceful Portsmouth where we were relieved to arrive yesterday evening after a very rough and extremely crowded crossing from Ouistreham!

I’ve heard positive reports of the Wonka film, grandMattie so I hope you see it.
Your poor friend, Mizuna! As Captain Bertorelli regularly said in ‘Allo, ‘Allo:
“Whata mistaka to maka!!”
Bad luck on the shoe front, Grammaretto and then a phone call disturbing your slumber! Today has to be better!
I do hope you reach home today, Sar53! A rotten end to your lovely holiday.

I’m heartened to read of calmer weather in some areas at least as we face a drive to Crewe to see my DD2 and family.

Wishing everyone a good day, relief from pain and an end to those worries most of us have! 🦩🎄☃️🦩

baubles Sat 30-Dec-23 07:19:24

Good morning from cold and frosty South Lanarkshire.

I’m sitting in bed having my first cup of freshly made coffee, it really sets me up for the day.

Childminding for DD today as they’re going out with a group of friends for their annual end of year lunch.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 30-Dec-23 07:14:52

Morning all, no idea what the weather is like as haven’t got up to open curtains.

Oh that’s a pain, Sar53 hope you get home safely later today x

Wonka is meant to be very good gM

My sister and her girls are coming today, not sure if brother-in-law is joining us. Tonight we are going out to dinner with some friends.

Enjoy the penultimate day of 2023 👋🙋‍♀️

Sar53 Sat 30-Dec-23 06:56:06

Good morning from Madeira. We didn't get home yesterday as there was a problem with the plane, so eventually we were all bussed to another hotel for the night.
Hopefully our replacement flight will take off about 1'sh today. What a saga !!
So looking forward to getting home now, fingers crossed 🤞.
Have a great day everyone xxx

Mizuna Sat 30-Dec-23 06:43:53

Good morning from Cornwall where it's dark and dry and very mild. My old bamboo sofa is sawn in half and propped up on my patio. More sawing required before I can carry it to its final composting place. A very satisfying project completed with a hacksaw in the end, gentler on my hands.

Today I'm meeting a friend for coffee at our one and only department store, then back home to start making denim-backed cushions for when my sofa-in-five-boxes arrives. That same friend is mortified because on the day itself she cancelled Christmas Day at a friend's house due to Covid, except that she's realised she read the test wrongly and hasn't actually had it. She and her husband would have been the only guests. I suspect she wants to chat over her embarrassment. She thought the red C (Control) line meant C for Covid. Oh dear.

Grammaretto Sat 30-Dec-23 06:41:28

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Weather quiet but colder. A long night with anxiety not helped by my DiL in NZ accidentally phoning at 3am.
I braved the sales at the good shoe shop in Peebles yesterday. Tried on everything in my size from boots to slippers but no joy so ended up in another shop buying underwear not in sale c'est la vie!

I expect a df for morning coffee. Her dad died just before Christmas.

I hope you see the film gMattie and I hope your health continues to improve. Mick

Have the best day you can everyone.

karmalady Sat 30-Dec-23 06:39:02

Good morning, we are expecting two days of very strong winds again, plus plenty of rain later today. Soggy again in s somerset

I was so tired last night, I went up to bed very early. Sleep was quite good and I am hoping to get back on the straight and narrow today, which means I cannot nap. The motorways were very busy yesterday with difficult driving weather and some very inconsiderate drivers

An easy day today, with a bit of bag-making, some knitting and reading

Have a good day

Oopsadaisy1 Sat 30-Dec-23 06:20:19

Good morning Mick , GM and all who follow, apart from knowing it’s very dark outside and that the wind has dropped, the weather remains behind my curtains.
Bed changing day today, I cooked last night for today so an easy day. The big clean will wait u til the Christmas decorations come down.
Have a good day everyone, thoughts are with those who are unwell or unhappy.

grandMattie Sat 30-Dec-23 06:03:14

Good morning from Bristol. It’s dry at the moment. I think that today will becalmed and drier.
I had a very quiet day yesterday, seeing no one, nor speaking either. That is the thing I find most difficult, living on my own.
I’m supposed to see “Wonka” with DD and Iris, but plans haven’t been confirmed, so I don’t know.
I hope all the travellers are safe, the poorly better and the sad working through their sorrow.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩
