Grand2dogs am sorry for the complete lack of courtesy shown to you by this PM - not acknowledging your correspondence.. it confirms what we all think about this Tory party..they don’t care at all.. think we’re living in an alternate universe ☹️

Hi Bea65 I truly hope he does something for everybody that would be good news, unfortunately he has done very little for his constituency where I happen to live. Local businesses are closing by the day. My wife was treated badly by her employer during Covid because she had a sick note to protect me because I am CEV, she ended up leaving we wrote to him three times because other people were being threatened. He didn’t reply. His majority is huge but you could put a prize Heffer up for election as a Tory Candidate and it would win however in the last 6 months the faithful are getting fed up because they say he doesn't care and won’t answer a question. Here’s hoping someone benefits somewhere.

They are going to give tax cuts galore and then NOT take them all back (and more) after the election.
They will be changing the name of the Party to The Give You Anything You Want Party.

It'll be some sweetener. From now on until the election we'll be spoonfed with them. We'll also be reminded that we're doing so much better than the G7. So just put that in your pipe and smoke it!

Bea65, that is exactly what I am wishing for. The number of us pensioners who, because of a lovely increase in the pension, are being dragged into paying tax, is so totally unfair. Don't think we will be that lucky, sadly!!

... giving with one hand and taking back with the other I think covers it.

In principle, I'm not opposed to paying my fair share of tax - but this move has put so many into the tax bracket who really are I believe just-about-managing and, with the promised hikes in energy costs (again), I think they will struggle.

I already pay tax anyway, so hey ho - but I do know a couple of pensioners who are really finding it difficult to manage - and they are thrifty... one has to pay for a procedure that she cannot get - but needs - any longer on the NHS on a regular basis. Too "rich" on paper to get any help but in reality, not at all wealthy. And these are the pensioners I feel sorry for - those in the 'middle' - the impoverished get benefits and the wealthy are OK... it's always those in the middle who are hit the hardest.

Something to benefit those he thinks will vote for him in this years GE.

Perhaps his wife has just made a few more billions. So good to know we're all in it together!

Grantanow Mon 01-Jan-24 23:08:12

He's re-applied for a Green Card?

I wish for the personal allowance to be increased...

There is an election looming. Not sure a new baby will sway my vote, nice as that news is.
Tax cuts won't work on me either.

Maremia Mon 01-Jan-24 11:49:41

He is about to defect to the Reform party?

Juliet27 Mon 01-Jan-24 11:43:51

A new baby on the way?

Anything Boris can do…!!

Whitewavemark2 Mon 01-Jan-24 11:42:09

The rumours are a cut or even abolishing inheritance tax.

This will benefit 4% of the wealthiest people in the U.K.

But we shall see what unfolds no doubt.
