Good Morning Everyone,
And a Happy New Year.
Dark , dry and cold outside here in brackley .
After a easy day yesterday , will relax a little bit again today , may sample a beer as well.
Had a quiet evening dropping off to sleep early ,and usual routine .
Take Care,
Mick

Happy New Year to you all.

Fireworks outside until half-past two here, so didn't get up until 8 - one scaredy cat felt safest under my bed, the other stayed in my armchair where he could see what was happening outside.

Put the bins back down at the bottom of the drive - moved them yesterday so no pranksters would switch them with one of the neigbours and locked my letter ´-box again - left it open yesterday to discourage the custom of jamming a firework into it.

Listened to Wiener Philharmonikers Neujahrskonzert as usual with phone SWITCHED OFF.

Weather rainy and cold, so didn't go for walk, but started stripping off wallpaper in an upstairs room instead.

Just got round to Gransnet now at 16,30 continental time.

Happy New Year to Mick and Everyone and best wishes for a good year ahead.
I don't post very often as in need of a new laptop but I always try to read or catch up(when I can) with the morning thread.
Have been on GN since 2007 so not a newbie and remember a few of you from way back then.
Apart from Friday Girl and Ellen Vannin I also remember Gabriella. Anyone else remember her.I used to like reading about her morning walks and healthy breakfasts.Plus her cup of tea with the man and his dog on the boat.
Today it's wet and grey here in the NW although I saw a small spot of blue earlier.
Anyway folks enjoy the rest of today and fingers crossed for 2024.

Happy New Year to all. We stayed up the see the old year out and the new in, accompanied by BBC Scotland’s Hogmanay party - particularly enjoyed a group new to me, the Kinnaris Quintet.

Happy Anniversary to the Thorntrees.

Will call on my neighbour and phone my sister to wish them a happy New Year.

Good morning and happy new year all.
Our new year's day brunch came with added entertainment - loony dookers! Hardy mad souls out for a swim at South Queensferry.

Happy Anniversary to the Thorntrees flowers

Lovely to see some long time posters visiting again 😊

Happy New Year to all from a very quiet Eden. Not even a dog walker venturing out. Lots of sore heads I should imagine as the village hall gathering was offering plenty of Booze to buy accompanied by the high lite of crisps and a few nuts. An offer that was easily refused.smile

Good morning and a very happy new year. Sunny and dry here for a change but I can see the flooded fields from my house.

Happy new year to all from Sunnyside northwest coast where I might take myself off for a ‘health’ walk in the sunshine into the dunes at the bottom of the road.

I took a birthday present round to my long standing friend yesterday but she was not at all well and her daughter had stayed and was thinking of taking her to hospital, so I hope to find out today how she is.
I had a quiet evening in, which I appreciated after having visitors for over a week and did some mending which I find therapeutic. Plus a voice warm up in the morning as the music club starts again tomorrow.
Welcome back Pantglas happy anniversary thorntrees and thoughts to all gransnetters 🌺

Happy New Year Mick and All. It's a glorious day here on the Angus coast - blue sky, blue sea and sunlit hills. What a wonderful start to a new year.
Lovely to hear from Malta again Bellasnonna - we were posted there in the early 70s for nearly four years and loved it.
Happy anniversary to the Thorntrees.
Great to see you too again Pantglas - I well remember your chamberpot of tea each morning!
That's my favourite photo on here Mizuna - so carefree and joyful!
I went out last night to let the Old Year out and then came round to the other side of the house to let the New Year in. There were firework displays for miles around and the four ships in the little port hooted for a good five minutes - so traditional and lovely.
Today I think I will treat myself to bacon and eggs for brunch, and there's traditional steak pie for later. In between time I know not what - but it will certainly involve just sitting here enjoying the view and also watching the sparrows and coal tits enjoying themselves at the bird table.
Wishing you all health, happiness and contentment for 2024 x

Soggy Somerset would like to share that clear sky grandmafrench. If you could kindly send some we’d be grateful smile. Or maybe down the motorway from Manchester urms. The grey skies are getting tedious now. We’re keeping smiling though. What else is there to do?

Happy anniversary to Mr and Mrs Thorntrees. Enjoy your special day.

Urmstongran Mon 01-Jan-24 10:50:35

Good morning everyone from a sunny south Manchester. We have 7°c according to Alexa. Let’s hope 2024 is kind to us all. Life can be very tough at times.

No Matt.

Good morning and a very happy new year to all. I’m afraid I’m starting the year much as I finished last year, totally disorganised and ‘behind the coo’s tail’ so I’ll just send my very very best wishes for a decent year for us all, strength when we need it and happiness where we can find it.
Thanks to everyone for sharing their lives and enriching mine, God Bless, xx

DS and DDIL travelling home today or tomorrow. House still looks like a bomb has hit it! and no washing allowed today. Heyho, that's tomorrow sorted...maybe.
