Happy New Year from an as yet dry Bristol. 🎇🥂🥳
Yesterday was quiet - I pottered , read and watched TV. My upstairs neighbour asked me round for a welcome cuppa.
I didn’t stay up to seethe New Year in, quite honestly, I’ve never seen the point. I heard some fireworks around 1030.
Today is empty, but I’m thinking of inviting the residents for tea and cakes in the afternoon.
May 2024 bring health, peace and contentment to you all.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Happy New Year and a good morning to you all.
It’s dry here in south Gloucestershire at the moment after yesterday’s torrential rain.
A quiet day ahead, suits me fine!
Have a lovely day 🌹

Good morning, everyone , from Lancashire. Up early after dozing all evening yesterday, then lying awake most of the night.
I forgot to buy a calendar. Must put that right when the shops open.

Good morning and a Happy New Year Michael and all GNs! I didn’t stay up to see the New Year in and was asleep before my head hit the pillow so didn’t even hear the fireworks! DD and the menfolk came over for a roast dinner, which was very jolly, and DS face timed me in the evening. My DiL has covid and looks and sounds dreadful. No idea what’s on the cards today - will be weather dependent I think.
Have the best day you can folks.

Happy New Year from a windy West Oxfordshire.
I let the cats sleep on my bed last night in case of fireworks. There weren’t any and Milo and Ripley were delighted.
OH and I are having lunch out today at one of our favourite restaurants. They do Steak Diane, which I love.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from a rainy New Year in Cornwall, where my son has just come in from his taxi shift. My 14-year-old grandson and I watched the London fireworks; magnificent, but I did wonder about the gulls there, as they go berserk where I live when fireworks go off.

So here we are with another year ahead. Exciting. But for today I'll be sorting my workroom and planning which wood and concrete to keep and which to jettison.

The best of everything to you all. (It's a golden oldie photo, as many of you know, but one that's full of joy and that's what I wanted for today.)

Good morning Mick and All and a very Happy and Healthy New Year to you all from a dry cool South Bucks.

I remember that lovely photo Mizuma 👍

Decided we will go for a gentle walk around the grounds of NT Cliveden today.

Things are getting slightly lighter yippee I don’t do ‘dark’ !

NanKate Mon 01-Jan-24 07:12:28

Mizuna !

Good morning Mick and a very Happy New Year to you and all your followers.

The weather here in Malta has been unseasonably warm with highs of around 19°C. I have yet to put on any heating and the new jumpers I bought haven’t been worn although I am sure winter will find us eventually.

Wishing all on GN health and happiness, and strength to those facing challenges.

Lovely to see you back Bellasnana 👍🎾🎾

Good morning from a dark but dry Colchester. Single figure temperatures today but rising overnight is today's odd forecast.
We went to bed early but were woken by fireworks. Our coughs are lessening. I'll take a walk out for milk later and need to sort the recycling. Otherwise resting up as it's back to business as usual tomorrow.
Love to all and best wishes for 2024 🦩x

Good morning, not good weather today, rain, dark and gusts in s somerset. I feel lucky to not be affected by floods, there are many warnings all around.

Not enough sleep for me last night, I will be napping today and just doing quiet stuff like reading, eating and knitting. A sigh of relief that tomorrow is back to normal but with a new bag, which is finished

Best wishes for good health and happiness in 2024

Good morning from a Damp South Downs. More wind and rain forecast, but mild.

“Wishing everyone a gruntled, gormful, ruthful and feckful New Year, full of respair.”

Today we are eating at my sisters - her first hostessing since her operation.

Peace and harmony to all.

Good morning and a happy new year mick and all. Our corner of Somerset is so soggy I’m delighted to see its dry out there at the moment.

Enjoyed our belated Christmas dinner yesterday. Settled to a film in the evening, we’d not planned to watch the fireworks but somehow did.

Christmas decorations will be packed away today, I’ll miss the lights on the tree bouncing off the conservatory glass

Good to see you bellasnana, please send some of your warm sunshine this way. That photo always makes me smile mizuna.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Llamas99 Mon 01-Jan-24 07:55:18

Karmalady, I would love to see pics of your bag; You have worked so hard on it!

Good morning and a Happy New Year from a dull and damp Essex coast.
We had a lovely meal with friends in a local restaurant yesterday evening then came back to watch the fireworks.
Today it's more washing and lots of ironing, roast pork for later.
Here's hoping for a happy and healthy 2024 xx

Happy New Year to everyone and good morning from a grey W Kent. I had a lovely time yesterday with the family and no hiccups with the food.
Today is quiet and I will be taking down the Christmas tree, the GDs removed and packed away the tree decorations.
Best wishes to all

A Happy New Year to all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 2°C.

For the first time since we got married, DH and I didn't stay up for the Bells. I was in my pyjamas at 7pm! I was totally wiped out!

We spent a lovely afternoon ar DD's with the family. DIL is still very unwell, so that spoiled it a bit.
Today will be very quiet, with home made traditional steak pie for dinner.
I plan to do nothing, except go to morning Mass.

For those of you, who have not had your sorrows to seek,I hope 2024 is a better one.

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 01-Jan-24 08:14:41

Good morning Mick and a Happy New Year to everyone.
We only had a few fireworks last night at 12, so we turned the TV up and the dog didn’t hear them, it meant we stayed up until 1am but we are watching The West Wing again, so no hardship.
Cottage pie today, followed by apple and blackberry crumble, from fruit picked in the summer, hopefully the power will stay on, it’s dry and bright here, let’s hope it stays that way.
Have a good day everyone, thoughts are with those who aren’t feeling so good.

kittylester Mon 01-Jan-24 08:14:59

Good morning all from a dry North Leicestershire.

Not much happening here today as it has been full on since Christmas.

Have the best day possible everyone and a very happy new year.

brook2704 Mon 01-Jan-24 08:17:23

Good morning everyone and a Happy New Year from Inverness where it’s just about 2º
Lovely to see you back Bellasnana hope all the family are doing ok
We’d planned a quiet night in just the two of us, but it all changed when DD2 and family asked mid morning if they could all come round and stay over. So I made a flying visit to Tesco, got some goodies in and cobbled together food for us all to enjoy. The DGC stayed up to see in the New Year for the first time ever. The house is all quiet thi morning and hopefully it’ll stay like that for a while yet. It was busy and a very late night but lovely to have the house full, but I’ve no idea what time they’ll be going home at!
Gorgeous picture mizuna ❤️ thanks for sharing
If you’re out and about today please take care and enjoy family times together
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning Mick and everyone from a still dark Carlisle where it looks rather damp outside.
And Happy New Year to all of you. A special thank you to you Mick for starting another year off for us once again.

I saw the New Year in but not for the best of reasons! I went to bed at my usual time but was woken just before midnight by indigestion. I went down for a glass of milk and then put the radio on to hear Big Ben chime in 2024. There were a few fireworks outside in the distance and that was it round here. Fortunately we don't seem to go in for wild party-ing hereabouts but I expect it was an entirely different scene down in Carlisle's Botchergate!

Yesterday morning was pleasantly mild and sunny so I went out and planted my 2 heathers. Not the quick and easy job you might think as I've heavy clay a few inches down so I needed to excavate and mix in a lot of ericaceous compost.
I have flowers...crocus, snowdrops, violas, primroses and my lovely viburnum bush which has been in flower for weeks now. This is the time of year when I feel spring is on the way...the triumph of hope over experience!
Today will be quiet, gentle pottering about and a lot of reading. I have started two new books, one fiction and one non, a newly published tome by Rory Stewart. It will be interesting to read his take on his parliamentary experience.

It is a great photo Mizuna, a clever photographer there.

I hope this year will be kind to all of us, best wishes to you, everyone.

Bellasnanna, so lovely to see you posting! 💕

A Happy New Year to everyone and thanks to Mick for this lovely friendly start to the day.
Don’t often post but always read about everyone’s ‘doings’
Looks like a dull day here in Shropshire but no rain as yet so might get a walk in this morning.
Today is our 52nd Wedding Anniversary, a quiet day of reflection and gratitude that we still have each other and loving thoughts for those who are feeling sad and lonely as another year begins.
Signs of bulbs coming through in the garden, slightly longer days so can look forward to Spring on its way.🌷🪻
