Who's still Good Looking with Age

Just watched a Queen concert from 1986 and note how good looking Brian May is even now. Always thought Sean Connery has aged well too.
Michael Douglas was good looking when younger but looks a bit scary now. His dad Kirk was handsome when younger but really went weird looking when he was old.
Who do you think has aged well?

To develop or keep your vocal cords working well, you need to chew and swallow regularly, if you don't chew a lot on food you are likely to lose your voice or at least get a trembling one. The speech therapist explained this when my husband had a stroke and sadly couldn't swallow normal food.

Tom Hanks. I think he’s much better looking now than when he was younger. And Judi Dench of course-she’s gorgeous. Both of them seem to be decent people, so maybe it’s their kind nature shining out of them.

I think personality and a good sense of humour is far more important than looks but I fully agree with the all the over-the-top white teeth that can blind you from a mile off and the turkey teeth! Pricilla Presley, Madonna and various others look terrifying. I was never a Presley's fan and never will be but she was quite beautiful before the surgery made her look like something from a horror movie!

Alfre Woodard is in her 60s and looks gorgeous, Barbra Streisand, Bruce Willis, Cindy Crawford, Jane Seymour is 72 but looks 42, Jon Bon Jovi, Meryl Streep, Olivia Newton-John, Sally Field, Jaclyn Smith to name a few.

Same here! www.instagram.com/p/C1odo92N_VV/ I'm 58 but could pass as a lot older!

Many years ago I would be really embarrassed and upset when people told me how young I looked. I was always being refused alcohol in pubs and restaurants and people used to think my son was my little brother. Nowadays....if only!

Paul McCarthy is aging well and looks much better since he stopped dying his hair that weird auburn colour.

I also thought David Bowie aged well. He was 69 (I think) when he died.

IMO, any man who retains his hair and/or becomes a silver fox has a definite advantage over a bald man. Yes, I know it is something that men have no control over - other than having a transplant.

Joanna Lumley looks fabulous. However, I was watching her in a series on Netflix (Fool me Once) and she is very wrinkly close up.

Goldie Hawn always looks well but there is a huge difference in her smiley face and her 'resting face'. A smile goes a long way.

Meryl Streep also looks great but I think she must have had some very subtle surgery over the years.

On the other hand, Madonna looks quite scary these days.

I don’t think Tom Jones looks so artificial BUT the poor old boy can hardly walk he holds onto things and walks very slowly and you can tell he is gritting his teeth to get from a to b
instead of pretending he’s still 18 why not use a stick, he still thinks he’s a sex bomb
Is he still with Pricilla P or did that fizzle out ?

I don't think Tom looks particularly artificial but the one thing that does impress me is he has still kept his voice. Some of the older ones kept singing when they really shouldn't have, Frank Sinatra for instance.

I recently saw a photo of Michael Aspell in the Times and he looks great, amazingly the same, although over 90. The ones I think age badly are those who have had ‘work’ done. Robert Redford has clearly had various eye lifts and fillers and sadly looks grotesque now. Joe Biden, similarly, has had eye bags removed and now the top of his face looks very odd. Like RR, he was also handsome in his youth and so probably quite vain.

I love Chris from Smokie too but he has had procedure's it's not natural, but who cares smile

Joanna Lumley

My elderly 103 year old mother still looks nice for her age! She won’t admit to being 103 at all. Age is just a number Had her hair cut and dyed last week! A good sense of humour has helped and a happy disposition

I agree GSM that Helen Mirren looks witchy with her long hair. She looked much more attractive with a shorter style.

I was amazed to read that Bryan Ferry came from the poorest of backgrounds. I always thought of him as borderline aristocracy.

Casdon Thu 04-Jan-24 23:01:06

He is looking great Jane43, I saw him too, at the O2, and he hasn’t lost it, for sure.

Jane43 Thu 04-Jan-24 22:46:46

Bryan Ferry - we went to see Roxy Music last October and he is looking fantastic for 78, his singing voice isn’t what it was but you can’t have everything.

M0nica Thu 04-Jan-24 22:27:31

Colin Firth was always over-rated as to his looks anyway.

MayBee70 Thu 04-Jan-24 17:20:31

I disagree about Colin Firth. I don’t think he’s aged at all well.

Norah Thu 04-Jan-24 15:48:40

Judy Dench, Colin Firth, Hugh Grant, Brad Pitt, Helena Bonham Carter - people with gorgeous hair.

Men who are fortunate enough to retain a full head of hair often look younger.

Indeed. No hair (apart from Stanley Tucci) is not a good look.

Moonwatcher1904 Thu 04-Jan-24 15:30:35

MayBee70 I think that's a good point. I have never been suntanned or spent hours basking in the sun. My mum never did either. Much as people love to spend hours in the sun it must damage your skin no matter what creams you put on it.

In our picture round of quiz last night, Mel Gibson

Seven people living in a closed environement requires heroic quantities of patience forgiveness for them not t spend their lives at each other's throats, and I suspect that making Chrisymas cards would provide a very meagre living, they were probably also dependent on donations from supporters.

The nuns in these closed convent were both very private and proud of their capacity to manage and suffer. A number of convents have been closed down by bishops after finding the nuns there were living without adequate heat or food, they saw it as part of their life of sacrifice but others saw that even this must have a limit and dying of malnutrition was beyond that limit.

Grammaretto Thu 04-Jan-24 08:37:13

I thought that too M0nica but this sister had lived in a convent in Liverpool all her adult life. It was a silent order. There were, at that time 1980s, only 7 of them . They had a cottage industry making Christmas cards and she made it sound a very gentle life away from the outside world.

M0nica Thu 04-Jan-24 08:17:11

A nun's life is not without worries or responsibilities. Many orders run schools and hospitals and even the contemplative eorders have to find a way of earning money and some live in abject poverty.

Kevin Costner does it for me 😉

If she hadn’t been exposed to sunlight her skin would have been wrinkle free. I met Miriam Stoppard once: she has used a Sun block all of her life and her skin was like porcelain.
