Who's still Good Looking with Age

Both my mum and my dad looked years younger than they actually were and people tell me I look several years younger too. I have dreadful eyesight that when I take my glasses off I don't see any wrinkles at all!
I think Brad Pitt, Bruce Springsteen and Tom Hanks have all aged really well.

I think Nigel Havers and Martin Shaw have both aged well.

Just like Monica, I'm constantly being told I don't look/sound my age when I have to reveal my DoB. Unlike Monica, I don't mind it a bit. Better than the alternative methinks. However, although I would never dream of 'thanking' anyone for such a comment I often respond by asking what they think someone my age should look/sound like. Answers vary between wrinkly, grumpy, frail. I simply tell them I have no friends of the same age who match that concept. Job done......

I think I have aged reasonably well for 79. with a bit of lippy I feel good too. I drive and play Scrabble and try doing cryptic crosswords.

However when I look in the bathroom mirror I see a wrinkly old lady,with dyed hair, gaps in teeth and no eyebrows.

Think I shall have to buy a new mirror 😂

MOnica I heartily agree with your first post on this thread. I have inherited good skin from my mother's family but, of course, do have wrinkles, which I always regard as a map of my life. I am 73 (74 in May) and also find it rude or at least insensitive when someone tells me I look 63. This, such as it is, is what my 73 years look like!

Notspaghetti I've been lucky to get to 71 and no wrinkles but I must take after my mum as she was the same. She worked till she was 80.
I often wonder what these botoxed young women will look like when they get older.

I’m 9st 12lb….i usually wear jeans and one of my three leather jackets ( I like different coloured ones!) when people say ….arent you dressed too young (73) I get really angry . Can’t I dress the way that suits me ….do they want to see everyone over 60 in rladticatdd waisted skirts and thick tights and comfortable cardies and shoes!?
I have wrinkles and my hair is silver ….and I don’t give a damn what folk think . Oh and just to add insult to their obvious injury ….i don’t drive so do a lot of walking around with my Bluetooth ear-pods in listening to music ranging from the 50’s to the 20’s( that’s 2020’s)….i like what I like and so should you all….dont let people dictate to you ! If my grandkids (16 and 12) see me in town …they run to give me a hug ….if they’re not scared to be seen with me ….whst do I care about other folk!?

My OH. We first met at uni. In 1970 and got together 50 years later. He’s aged beautifully !

I saw Helen Mirren a couple of years ago in a lounge at T5 Heathrow (she sat next to my DH who had no idea who she was but clocked her amazing sandals - as did I ) and I thought she looked absolutely stunning. Her hair was beautiful, she is taller than I expected and generally looked classy and expensive but not overdone. She may have had work done but if so it is very subtle, she still looks like herself, unlike many others who have become unrecognisable.

MOnica I sympathise about someone on the phone, as I was very annoyed with a "young person" who changed her voice and way of speaking to me as soon as she knew my age group. I comfort myself by believing that I am more intelligent and better educated and a successful business woman rather than a mere call centre employee.
It is all in the mind. If you feel superior you will be !!!

I am not bothered about feeling superior, but I felt, firstly I was dealing with someone bound by stereotypes, and, what is more, someone who was rude enough to comment on it, as if it was my fault I did not conform to her stereotype of what I should sound like.

I think I know a number of women who’ve aged well, from a real life perspective but, not many men! Sadly, I had no choice but to divorce my husband in 2022. I didn’t want to and I miss him but, it was inevitable as he left me no choice. I am now venturing into the idea of dating. I’m only 61 and honestly, don’t relish the idea of life alone, for the rest of my days but… I look considerably younger than I am. That’s not boasting. I had to produce ID for my eye test and occasionally, when I pick up a prescription. It’s flattering but, the men of 62+ are old. They’ve just not looked after themselves, possibly? My own ex husband aged very quickly after 60. Didn’t bother me. I still found him very attractive but, it was noticeable.

Celebrity wise, I think Meryl Streep is still beautiful and “untouched” surgically. Kristen Scott Thomas, too. The men? Hugh Grant still dashing with a twinkle in his eye. Charles Dance.
