Good Morning Everyone ,
Its dark with a left half moon , so clear sky at the moment , but signs of wetness on the ground.
If the forecasts are right low temps in UK , but not as low as some places elsewhere .
Today usual bus to Bicester , yesterday I was fortunate to get both of the two regular bus drivers who did the service prior to change ,and apart from wishing them a happy new year ,also mentioned my own health situ to them.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a dull, grey day here on the Essex coast.

Later this morning I am off to spend the weekend with DD2 and family. I'm so looking forward to it as I haven't seen them for a few months.

Have a great Friday everyone and a good weekend xx

Ginny so pleased for your DGS and his mum too ❤️

harrigran Fri 05-Jan-24 09:01:04

Good morning from a rainy NE where it is 4 degrees.
Got all the washing done by lunchtime yesterday then hoovered everywhere, bit of a waste as I will be creating a mess when I take the tree down today.
My sister rang from Germany and chatted for two hours, she is feeling quite low after the death of her friend.
I did all the ironing before cooking my dinner and then finished watching Fool me once.
Today DD and SIL are coming to take me shopping and then we are having lunch out, nice break from the kitchen.
Happy Birthday Kitty 💐
Thinking of Baggs and her DD.

Good morning from a dry day in Suffolk which is such a relief after another evening of torrential rain.

A friend has invited us to a Twelfth Night lunch( I know a day early but one of the guests is about to become Reeve of a local town and has an important event to attend tomorrow). She is an excellent cook and hostess so a great time will be had, with 14 of us in total.

Mention of coffee and walnut cake reminds me that I made one, with much help from my DM for my cookery badge when I was a Brownie more years ago that I care to remember.

Happy birthday Kittylester andkind thoughts to those who are struggling especially thinking of Baggs.

Susan56 Fri 05-Jan-24 08:53:00

Thank you Mary.x

Alygran Fri 05-Jan-24 08:45:18

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s dry but not very bright. The lane into the village is still flooded but we haven’t had anything like the flooding further south.
DH loved coffee and walnut cake. I am ashamed to say I’ve never made one…if in doubt go to Marks and Spencer 🤣🤣
Happy birthday kitty
Today I am going to do the charity accounts..I’m feeling a bit better but the nasty cough wakes me a lot. I will also make some soup and a bolognaise sauce.
Thinking of Baggs and her DD and others that are unwell.
Keep safe and dry everyone.

Pittcity Fri 05-Jan-24 08:44:03

Good morning from rainy and windy Colchester. It's due to dry up later and temperatures are in single figures.
We slept late and have no plans. Will play it by ear. I've been going through my family tree and adding and deleting records. I am forever finding anomalies. It's like a never ending jigsaw.

Happy Birthday Kitty 🎉
Love to all 🦩 x

Marydoll Fri 05-Jan-24 08:42:36

G.G, I misread your post, because my eyes are poor first thing. I thought the camels were parading at 4.30am!

Enjoy your break!

Jaxjacky Fri 05-Jan-24 08:41:42

Morning from a sodden S Hants, numerous accounts of flooding, road closures, land slips and abandoned cars last night, horrendous.
Happy Birthday kitty 🎂🎉.
Enjoy the celebrations Taichinan
Christmas tree is being collected today, Tesco delivery, a walk, some dusting and pub tonight.

Good morning Mick and All from a cloudy and bright in parts South Bucks.

Look forward to seeing you ringside in Melbourne watching Rafa 🤞*Bellasnana*. Hope the twins are good for you.

Grandmabatty Fri 05-Jan-24 08:32:55

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 3° and damp. Kittylester a very happy birthday to you. GrandMattie your cakes look lovely. I'm another fan of coffee and walnut.
Yesterday was a quiet day and I expect today to be similar. I have to pick up an order at M and S. Then this afternoon I'll visit mum. I made Toad in the Hole for dinner yesterday but misread the amount of flour in the batter. I put in 300mg instead of 100mg! Fortunately I spotted the error when trying to mix it, so added more milk. It was only a little stodgy. I have enough for tonight, so dinner is taken care of. Have a good day all

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 05-Jan-24 08:24:07

I also love coffee and walnut cake - my mum made the best!
But, I can’t bear coffee flavoured chocolate in a box.

Greyduster Fri 05-Jan-24 08:22:39

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It is disappointingly dank and dreary at the moment - not what was expected today. I had a nice walk yesterday with DD but wet underfoot. We curtailed it only because part of the path we were on had disappeared down the hillside in a mudslide and was therefore impassable. Laundry day today but looks as if it will have to be dried inside unless the weather brightens up.
A very Happy Birthday, Kitty! Enjoy your day!
Have the best day you can folks.

Gingster Fri 05-Jan-24 08:14:46

Good morning all - what a lot of rain we had again last night.
Dry here in Essex at the moment.

So sorry to hear about your DD Baggs.🙏
Enjoy your time in Spain GG. The parade sounds wonderful.
Kitty have a wonderful birthday. 💐

A few more cupboards and drawers in the kitchen to sort out.
Meeting with our Friday friends at lunchtime and then an eye test later this afternoon.

A gentle day wished for all.

brook2704 Fri 05-Jan-24 08:09:58

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s still dark but looks dry and it’s about 4º
A very Happy Birthday Kitty enjoy your special day! 💐🎂🎉
Have a wonderful weekend Taichi sounds like a good time ahead and a very Happy Birthday to your DD
I’m off to the gym first thing then back home, there’s lots of housework to catch up on and if it’s dry I’ll have a potter in the garden.
Enjoy the celebrations GG13 and the warmer weather
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

cornergran Fri 05-Jan-24 08:06:36

Oops forgot. A very happy birthday to kitty and good wishes to all celebrating today.

cornergran Fri 05-Jan-24 08:05:55

Morning Mick, morning All from a dry corner of Somerset. The lack of rain a cause for celebration.

Yesterday Mr C won the day and we headed up the M5 turning left over the bridge into Wales where we experienced a largely dry day. Back home into rain we learned had we turned right to Wiltshire it would have been very different. Our son reported day long. driving rain. He had struggled to get home around cars abandoned in flooded lanes, fortunately driving high vehicle, to find his home surrounded by flowing water. Sandbags applied the inside has stayed dry. He’s totally unflappably and took it all in his stride.

Some good news about our friend. The antibiotics are doing their stuff and yesterday saw him sitting up and speaking for the first time since admission. Phew. His wife should get biopsy outcomes today.

We’ve few plans for the day ahead. A walk if it really will be fine, some sorting and I may finally settle to read a book. Mr C has begun a new puzzle. I’ve retained half the dining table grin.

My thoughts are with baggs and her family and of course all who are finding this new year is bringing challenges

Hope Friday is kind to us all.

Grandmadinosaur Fri 05-Jan-24 08:04:54

Good morning all from East Yorkshire. Weather is the same as yesterday.

After cancelling my trip yesterday I had an e mail late pm to say my booked return train was cancelled. This meant that although I hadn’t travelled I could claim a refund on that journey so able to claw back a little of the money I’d lost out. The show I was seeing ends tomorrow but I read online it’s transferring to Broadway with the same cast. Mm a trip to New York perhaps.
Another fan of coffee and walnut cake here.

No plans today except a shop to do.

Happy Birthday Kitty 💐🎂

Baggs what can I say but am thinking of you. 💐

Enjoy celebrating with your DD Taichinan

monk08 Fri 05-Jan-24 08:03:59

Marydoll Fri 05-Jan-24 08:00:29

Good morning all from a foggy Glasgow, where it's 2°.
I've had dreadful night, the third in a row.
I'm going over to the surgery this morning for a prescription for additional pain relief. It's relentless.

glammagran, I hope you are ok. Have I got this wrong, but were you not seriously unwell in hospital recently? Please seek medical help if you don't improve.

Yesterday, I ventured to Silverburn for a few items from Marks and a proposed wander. I gave up on the wandering, I was so slow and tired and it was too busy, with childminding grandparents and running children.

My DIL phoned me yesterday, which is unusual. She laughed when I asked what was wrong, saying she knew that I would say that.
We are going on Saturday to organise Dollie's First Communion dress and the shop owner had phoned to warn us their toilets were out of order. Dollie was laughing loudly in the background, when DD said no-one would have a problem with that, except for gran! Too true. Those damn heart pills.

Susan, you and your family have been in my thoughts.
I was so upset to read your sad news yesterday, Baggs. You and your family are in my prayers. 💐

GM, you are so talented. I was surprised by how many love coffee and walnut cake. I am the person, who loathes the coffee cream in the chocolate box. 😉

Have a good day folks.

ginny Fri 05-Jan-24 07:56:42

Good morning. Feeling more refreshed after a better nights sleep .
Yesterday 7 year old Grandsons had visit to Addenbrooks ( re hearing ) was quite emotional for his Mum. They fitted him with a BAHA band . When it was adjusted to the levels he needed he looked at her in amazement and said “Mummy , I can hear you whisper!” All the way home he was asking her about small sounds he had never heard before or that had been distorted.
Today we must put away the rest of the decorations This afternoon we may go to the cinema to see One Life.
All good wishes to those with illness to deal with . A good day wished for all.
