Good Morning Friday 5th January 2024

Another later good morning from me at PG Towers - my sleep hygiene is working (mostly) and I’m getting my full 8 hours of uninterrupted 😴 - it’s just a good thing that I no longer work or I’d have to be in bed by 10!

So sad to read about Baggs daughter yesterday and hugs to all with challenges to bear - it’s never easy when it’s our beloved ones is it x

A quiet day sorting bank stuff and paying the dratted 🚘 insurance - another £85 on last year 🤬 and I dread our council tax for next year….😱

No sign of daylight yet but for once not actually raining and the forecast suggests several dry days, a huge relief after the last couple of weeks. Local oldies’ coffee morning the highlight of the day so some sociability will be welcome after a rather quiet week. Wish I had gMattie’s baking skills!

We are here to celebrate three kings day the big parade starts at lunch time, the kings riding their camels will be in our little pueblo around 4.30pm. It really is a joyous occasion, we have many happy memories of family celebrations and sumptuous food with my family (parents/siblings) and then more when our children arrived.

Roofers here today and I have to nip to the butcher's.

Today is my 75th birthday - not sure how that happened. It is also J52's.

GM I too rate coffe and walnut cake as my favourite. It’s DD’s as well. Only if I make her one it has to be nut free as she has numerous nut allergies.

Good morning all.

Still feeling grim with Covid. Worst of all has been the terrible headache which I’ve had for days. Last night DH tested positive also and he’s had some viral infection and dreadful cough for weeks. We will have to rely on what’s in the freezer as I can’t even ask DD to pick up food as she too, has Covid.

There has been so much rain of late - our garden is a bog. I think we are due several days of respite from the rain. I’m hoping the sun will appear to cheer me up.

Good morning from Co Durham. Too dark to see the weather. GrandMattie, like Bellasnana, coffee and walnut is my all time favourite. Mum used to make the butter cream with Camp coffee, delicious!

I put my prelit Christmas tree away yesterday and got out my winter decorations. While looking in the box I found something I had made two years ago for Beechnutella.

I’m going to finish watching Fool Me Once while I’m still in bed and then get on with my day. It’ll be dusting, putting clean clothes away and pottering.

Morning all from a still dark West Oxfordshire.
Today will be a housework day. I stripped the tree of all its decorations yesterday and took the cards and other decorations down. Everything is stored now until next Christmas.
OH loves a particular seasonal treat - prunes stuffed with prunes I buy him a box every Christmas. I noticed that Lakeland (the other place which sells them is Fortnums) had a half price offer. I ordered two boxes for him which he’ll pick up from Witney today.
I’ve still got a pile of ironing to do!
Those cakes look delicious GM. I love baking.

Good morning from a chilly but dry Torbay with sunshine forecast for later.

Yesterday, we braved Lidl in the rain and I finally finished some ironing that was from before Christmas! In the days when I was teaching, I’d regularly be doing ironing before six in the morning, having completed marking books prior to that. Imagine!

At lunchtime, I finally caught up with our lovely bin men to belatedly give them their Christmas box! We became acquainted during lockdown and they are golden, with a friendly smile and a wave whenever they see me.

Safe travels to your lovely family gathering, Taichinan and good luck with the twins, Bellasnana! I hope your cold soon clears, Mizuna, and thoughts are with those who have health worries, especially Baggs and her DD. 💐

Good morning from Malta where the weather is pleasant but predicted to be windy later.

I’m babysitting the boys this morning as their parents have been invited to participate in a radio programme about having babies in the NICU. It will all be in Maltese so I shall not feel guilty about watching Rafa’s match rather than tuning in.😁

grandMattie your cakes look wonderful. Can’t remember when I last had coffee and walnut but it was always a favourite.
You make me feel so idle as I rarely cook or bake at all.

Good morning all. Just taking a quick breather before heading for the hills Lake District for the celebration of DD's 50th. With 5 teens + partners it's going to be a lively affair! At least there should be a leisurely start to the day tomorrow!! Teens are not known for early starts 😉

Good morning from a now dry Bristol.
Yesterday was spent in a flurry of baking. I made a chocolate cake, coffee and walnut cake and a lemon drizzle, interspersed with the kneading and rising required for the “Roscon de los Reyes”, the Wise Men’s crown. I did add a bean for some lucky king/queen for the day. The cakes are for my neighbour and the bread for my Spanish class. The Spanish celebrated Twelfth Night more than Christmas, with huge parades and Wise Men throwing sweets at children, etc.
The afternoon was spent doing my Spanish homework which I kept on forgetting to do. It took me nearly two hours. My brain was hurting after that assault!
I had a very pleasant evening at DD’s; I was able to help by washing up for them. Their almost new dishwasher stopped working “Error 1”. She has called the diocesan people for help. She is in church property…
Spanish today then empty.

Good morning from Cornwall where rain, mist, sun and wind are forecast. I'm hand-sewing in bed because I woke extra early. Making neck cushions for my grandchildren because they enjoy playing with mine, and attaching plastic poppers so small they're almost invisible.

My sofa-in-five-boxes arrives around 0730 and my current headache, runny nose and sore throat will determine how much of it gets assembled today!
