I am making progress on the clearing front - I managed to vacuum the spare bedroom yesterday, now that the floor is clear, and I re-organised the hot press so that the top shelf, which is just too high for me to reach without steps, no longer has towels and duvet covers avalanching towards me every time I open the door. Today, now that it’s dry and the sun is sort of shining, we will sort out some stuff in the garage and take out the sofa which has been lingering there because I couldn’t find a new home for it. The local hospice shop are coming to collect it (I hope) on Monday. I pray no mice have been keeping cosy in it as it has been in the garage since the autumn.

Good morning Mick and all from a 2°C Sunnyside. My large back garden is more like a lake than anything else, but we have had major flooding problems over the years so it’s nothing new…
More putting away the Xmas stuff today in the basement and I will have a sing. Booked for a classical recital in the spring and music club on Tuesday. I need to practise and have been too slothful these last few days.
My old pianist friend, who I see regularly, is full of cold, so I’m keeping away from him.
Watched the film Saltburn last night on Netflix. Strange and not completely successful.

I’ve overslept again, possibly due to new pills, so I’ll just say that I hope everyone has a good day and then I’ll go and get dressed.

A late good morning from Durham. It’s dry, but the temperatures have plummeted. Thankfully, not a lot of flooding in my neck of the woods.
I’m out having coffee with BF, then a quiet weekend, following a busy week of child minding and dog sitting.

Greetings from a cold and darkish Appleby-in-Westmorland at 5.4C.! I'm sat here at work in my quilted jacket and banana coloured blanket scarf with the shop windows open to get a bit of fresh air in here!

I didn't start off having a ''good morning'' when I got agonizing thigh cramp! The entire left thigh from just above my knee to the top of the leg totally cramped as I was in bed! To say I screamed and cried the place down as it ripped and twisted is an understatement! Our little cat was sleeping in the livingroom on the back of the arm chair and she came running into me when she heard me scream and cry!

But other than that, it's a good morning so far!

We're off work tomorrow so will be ensconced in front of hubby's laptop binge-watching movies!

Late good morning from a cool but dry NE.
I had a busy day yesterday, shopping done and put away before going out for a late lunch in a gastropub.
After lunch we went to a shopping outlet where I bought a top in Crew reduced from £32 to £9 and DD and I got bed linen and towels in the Christy shop. I also stocked up on birthday cards for the year.
I had a message from DS to say he had booked our holiday for July, he found a lovely big house with four en suite bedrooms and a games room which will keep the three teenagers occupied.
During the evening DD and SIL helped me to take down the Christmas tree and put everything away in the attic.
We had a late supper of cheese and crackers and a glass of rose wine to rou d off a lovely day.
I will not see DD again as she returns to Brussels on Monday and has a lunch out with friends today and a 60th Birthday party tomorrow.

Good morning from a bright but still soggy Boggy Brae.

Minibaggs is heading up from Yorkshire today and asked if she can borrow my hiking boots while she's here so that she doesn't have to pack her own. I hope the weather stays decent enough for her to get into the hills with pals during her visit.

All quiet on the Christie front. It's just waiting time now till the medics decide what to do. BTDD is being well looked after.

I need to trim my fingernails – they grow so fast! – and then I will paint.

Good morning everyone from a grey and overcast Northampton. Listening to Tony Blackburn Sounds of the Sixties on my Alexa catch-up; he is playing music from 1964 today, reminding me of my college days in East Hertfordshire, when I had Radio Caroline on all day (when I wasn't at lectures!) As the Radio Caroline ship was just off the Essex coast we had really good reception. And I know all the words to all the songs!

Will spend most of the day packing away the tree and decorations.
Tonight am going with a friend to a 70th birthday 🎂 party; it's the birthday of a member of our walking group.

Good morning all from a very wet overnight and cold start to the day here on the east coast of Fife. Santa has been really good to me this year I’ve had such fun with 2 of my 6 grandchildren

I pray and hope there’s many more had a good Christmas

Good morning from a dry but chilly Black Country, where it is 2deg at the moment.

Will empty small fridge and clean it today. We have a larger fridge in the garage. As off to Gran Canaria tomorrow.

Then just final finish to packing. We are only taking hand luggage each as we are only away for 5 days. Off to a hotel later this afternoon near the airport ready for our flight tomorrow morning.

Sar53 my 15 year old DGD is now preparing for her GCSE's in the summer. She hopes to go to a college in our town, so I daresay I will see a lot more of her then. I can see her popping in between lectures!

The flooding is quite extensive not far from here, Bewdley and Bridgnorth are always affected. They are only 30 mins drive away. I really feel for anyone whose house is flooded, it must be heart breaking. It happened to my parents when I was 15, the whole Bungalow was affected. I remember having to stay the night, at my friends house, sleeping on the floor.

I hope to arrange a GN meet up when I am back. Two have already expressed an interest. Birmingham or Wolverhampton maybe? There used to be a few of us meet up Pre-Covid, now it seems to have fizzled out.

Good morning from Shropshire where a dry day is forecast.

Not long after I had posted yesterday we got an SOS call from DD to say her car had broken down so we rushed off to collect the children.Luckily she had managed to drive to a supermarket so they were safely parked in the car park.She thinks it’s from water.They are surrounded by floodwater.

We had a lovely day with the children but an upsetting phone call late afternoon.MIL’s death had been referred to the coroner and his findings have shocked and upset us.

We have the children until tomorrow morning.No plans we will just go with the flow.

Last night I sat and watched Top of the Pops 1964-1975. It made a nice change from my usual viewing and I had a sing a long. Good job no one was listening.

I watched that too Beechnut. DS and GF came down to see what the racket was and was impressed at my knowing the words. DS is only 22 and was shocked when he saw Michael Jackson from the 70s.

Good morning from a dry and even a bit sunny Suffolk. How lovely to see almost blue sky rather than grey.

We have often had snowdrops in flower on January 1st but this year,no sign yet of even a leaf.

Plan today is to go to Snape and spend Christmas vouchers in the shops there. These are vouchers from Christmas 2022 which expire this month and must be used in the next week or so. They turned up in a drawer when looking for something else…a pleasant surprise.

Hope today especially for those with worries and upsets is a calm one.

Out this morning with a friend to check out a fairly new place for coffee so am pleased by a bright if cold morning. After so much rain a blue sky is more than welcome. Sounds as if Christmas is well and truly behind us all now with decorations put away and snowdrops showing themselves in gardens. I regard January as something to be endured and feel so much for everyone suffering from the effects of flooding.

Good morning all and we have a pinky glow in the sky here in Essex.

Yesterday we met our usual gang at our regular country pub, sat around the fire and caught up with everyone’s news. We’ve done this now for over 50 years. 9 of us altogether , all still standing (just).

My eye health check was very thorough with a very lovely young lady optician. Glasses prescribed for driving and tv. I spent over half an hour in the waiting room, chatting to another young lady , whose crocheted jacket I admired. She had made it herself and I was very impressed. She had made it from wool which had been her mothers , who died earlier this year, so it was very special. ❤️.

Today not much on 🤞. Read the papers, do a bit of mosaic (present for Christmas), tidy a few more kitchen cupboards. Dh will go to footie with ds1 🤞.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It promises to be a bright day, if cold, day in South Yorkshire. Yesterday, I had a horrible bout of diverticulitis so did nothing but rest and catch up with my knitting. Today I feel better but I need to make some changes to my diet. I must do a food shop and then I will go out for a walk.
