Good morning from Cornwall, uber late for me after sitting up until 3am watching films and sewing cushions for my new sofa. -3° here at the moment; foreign for this area! The sea yesterday by the town wall was a colour called Payne's Grey which my dad loved to use in his ship paintings.

Today I'll go to the Community Café at our church. Last winter we called it Warm Space but the church is vast and lofty and somewhat cold so we changed the name. Warm welcome though!

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Dull and grey but no frost here.
I saw the nurse practitioner yesterday about my cough. Apparently is a virus and I just have to wait it out. It does seem a little better this morning but I have really strained my abdominal muscles coughing. That has caused much merriment with the DDs…muscles mum 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Today I have ironing to do then the usual puzzles, reading and knitting.
Tonight our football team play Chelsea in the semi final of the cup. This rolls back the years as we used to go all over to support them. Happy memories if not successful outcomes.

Just a walk with the dog in a minute, she stayed over for a second night to save MissOops from coming out in the snow, we have a shopping delivery later.

Good morning everyone from a chilly but dry south Manchester. I’ve rung the doctor for me just now. I’ve had a tickly cough for a couple of weeks which has become chesty & productive. I’ve bought cough linctus but as it seems worse thought I’d better get checked out in case I need antibiotics. Waiting for a call back.

Good morning all from a very cold North Leicestershire.

Sing it Happy this morning with chocolate birthday cake to hand round.

I was strangely cheered yesterday to find out that my very mild mannered friend (who is in hospital with an infection and noone knows what else) told her husband and consultant to b****r off and leave her alone.

No snow but certainly cold enough. How I loathe January! Supermarket shop and a friend for a cup of tea later are planned for today and possibly a bit of drawer sorting if I can muster sufficient enthusiasm. Sorry so many have sadness in their lives at present; loss seems inevitable as we get older.

Caught up late yesterday and was sorry to read about your friend farview.

Taichinan, wonderful that your weekend more than lived up to expectations, a precious time indeed. I also want to tell you that I sent off for the night vision glasses you recommended and was amazed at the difference they made when I unexpectedly had to drive home one evening last week. I managed the busy traffic comfortably. I will still avoid driving in the dark if I can but they were a great help, thank you.

Two fabulous cakes yesterday too, what skill.

I started a chair yoga class yesterday morning and enjoyed it very much. In many ways it was like the exercise class I went to before which sadly finished before Christmas, but all the movements were slower and more intense and my body definitely knew it had been working!

Lunch with DD1 today to belatedly mark her New Year’s Day birthday, it will be nice to have the chance to chat.

Thoughts to quite a few people with sadness this morning and wishing everyone a good day.

Good morning from an icy and windy South Downs brr.

Wandering whether I ought to put my crampon things over my boots when i go out - I’m useless on ice.

Bitterly cold though, so a day indoors - will make a start on a spare bedroom used as a big store cupboard with shelves lining all the walls. Need to give it a spring type clean and tidy - put away the Christmas decs etc.

Must give the birds an extra lot of food today as well as my foxes - the vixen will be expecting soon!! I put out a feeder full of nuts that had gone out of date two days ago for the squirrels it was gone within half a day! Hopefully they have stored them somewhere.

Sorry to hear the sadness of mortality - my condolences and kind thoughts to all suffering.

Good morning from a very cold but dry and snow free Suffolk.Apart from 3 X-rays at the dentists yesterday,which showed nothing of concern,I had a lean bill of health and an appointment in a year’s time.

My dentist has always,as part of a check up,done a scale and polish of my teeth for years now. Now,since he has just reduced his days from 4 to 3,he says he has to concentrate on proper dental work,so this is to bedione in future by a hygienist at a charge of about £70! He has looked after my teeth now for nearly 40 years so I shall keep going but feel a bit miffed!

I have a pedicure this morning and then lunch with a dear friend in our favourite local pu. I haven’t seen her since before Christmas so lots of chat will be involved. Last time we met our coffee time took over 3 hours.

Hope today is the best it can be for all.

My arms are aching a bit after the Sit and get Fit class yesterday. , but it was fun. I’ll try to do some of the exercises each day.

Not sure what we are doing today except arranging a meet up with some friends.

A good few sad events on here today, so, thinking of all who are coping with those or are poorly.

Good morning Mick and good morning All. It's still pitch dark on the Angus coast, but no sign of frost at 3°. The breeze is coming out of the NE though, so it's not going to be warm!
Back to tai chi classes this week, starting this morning, and it's going to be lovely to see everyone again and get back into that old routine.
So sorry to hear of sad losses today
I'm still revelling in the happy memories of the weekend - we did such a lot and there was so much love and laughter that it's difficult to believe it lasted only two days!
But it's down-to-earth time now and a plod through January and February. Even up here in NE Scotland there are signs in the garden that Spring intends to put in an appearance in the not too distant future with the noses of snowdrops and daffodils breaking through the earth.

We didn’t win at quiz, it was a fun evening with 12 teams, MrJ has a brake light out, so that’s one job for today. Farm shop for potatoes and village for milk.

Yoga yesterday was very quiet, only 7 of us, but it was good to be back - I felt well stretched afterwards!

I very much enjoyed the film about Nicholas Winton yesterday, what a wonderful man! BBC4 are showing his 'This Is Your Life' programme tonight.

I need to call the surgery in a few minutes, then a morning of pottering. I may or may not join my walking group this afternoon.

Pleased to report the clinic went ahead yesterday, Mr C got full marks for recovery. Consultant tweaked two meds, the next check up will be in about a year possibly at a hospital which is car friendly, we’ll be delighted if so. It was snowing quite hard when the bus brought us back, nasty in the wind, fortunately it soon stopped.

Another encounter with a bus this afternoon . We’ll drop the car off ready for service and MoT booked (too) early tomorrow, the bus will bring us home Doesn’t seem the much needed replacement camera has arrived, a shame as we’ll have to repeat when it does. A bigger shame is the large main dealer no longer has a pick up and return service or an available loan car. Once the car is out of warranty we’ll go to a local garage.

Thinking of all with sadness in their lives, there seems so much

Yesterday I visited my ‘surrogate’ dd and her toddler son, in their new house. It doesn’t look big from outside but it’s huge!
All open plan , with one large area leading into the next. Very high ceilings. Four massive bedrooms. I worry about their heating costs. She’s expecting a baby next month, so they’ll have to keep it warm..

I’m taking little DGD to school soon and will stand in the playground while she plays with her friends.🥶. I have to leave early as the traffic can be bad. Dd has another hospital appointment today.

Good morning from a cold, dry Colchester. Yesterday's snow amounted to nothing and sun is in today's forecast.
Just put the rubbish out as DH forgot again. It's the same every week. We can't put it out the night before as we don't have bins here and foxes etc have a field day. They can open food waste caddies.
Tuesday is charity shop volunteering day. The shop is noticeably busier than previous years, we must be doing something right.

Good morning from a chilly Durham. Babysitting went well yesterday - I was rewarded by hugs and kisses - such a charmer.
I have a chiropody appointment this morning, then a bit of food shopping. Bags to drop off at a Charity Shop and Salvation Army bin plus 3 loads of DD2’s laundry to tackle.
Still ‘thinking’ about Spring cleaning.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a very cold South Yorkshire. The man who came to give me a quote for a new fence said that at his side of the city they had had snow. They always get it first up there, and where DD lives. I’m not expecting his quote, when it comes, to give me a warm cosy feeling but it needs doing this year. Today I am back to my volunteering role at a local school. Nice to have some routine again. As it’s dry, I shall walk there and back.

Our Move It Or Lose It class was very full yesterday for our first session of this year. I guess folk felt the need after the excesses of the season! Today I shall be helping the Props team to take down the four Christmas trees at our theatre.

First, I have a retest of my Field of Vision with my optician which is causing concern. I’m very worried in case it stops me from driving. Since the end of last year, the hospital eye clinic is also involved and the ophthalmologist there thought I could have suffered a TIA!
