Good morning from Malta where the weather is the same as it has been all week.

The boys are both up, dressed and breakfasted and are now tearing around with various push along toys!

It’s a longer day today as their mum stays later at school on a Thursday but I don’t mind as they really are happy little chaps.

Your poor daughter, harrigran, hope she feels better after some sleep.

Well done to your DGD Ashcombe, definitely a proud grandma moment.

Wishing you all a good day and thank you for the kind words yesterday. Such lovely people on here.🤗😘

Good morning from 0 degrees W Kent.
A successful trip to visit DDIlL yesterday in brilliant sunshine. We had a good chat and eventually we were joined by DGS3 who regaled me with his University course in France.
Today I am meeting a friend from my art group which isn’t running at present.
gM glad the storage heater is doing its job again.
harrigran Hope your DD feels better soon
Ash lovely news for your dancing GD.
Best wishes to all

Good morning all. 🥶. Little pooch and I are snuggled up under a blanket on the sofa , me with a cuppa and her with her teddy.

Yesterday was beautiful with the sun so we sat in the conservatory , no heating on and it was pleasantly warm. I did more of my mosaic and read my book.

Bowls club today and then I’ll pop into the library. I ordered my book club book over a week ago. I couldn’t get through on the phone so I hope they have it there.
We plan to go to Suffolk on Sunday for a few days, but snow is forecast everywhere next week, so we might change our plans.

Well done Ash’s DGD. How exciting. 🩰.

Glad youve got your heating back GM.

Take care and keep warm 🧣🧤

Whitewavemark2 Thu 11-Jan-24 07:46:49

Good morning from a cold South Downs. A sparkling day forecast, so I will sit in the conservatory and enjoy the light levels - so lacking these past few weeks.

Enjoyed a met up with a friend yesterday and a catch up with all our news.

Today I will continue spring cleaning a spare store cupboard bedroom. It is surprising the room there is once I have decluttered a space.

Smoked Haddock and leek risotto for supper

Peace and harmony to all.

Good morning from a frosty Colchester. 7° forecast today with clouds reappearing after a couple of sunny days.
Changing our bed and a trip to Lidl are today's highlights.
Love to all 🦩 x

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 11-Jan-24 07:33:24

Morning all from West Oxfordshire where all is white frost and -1! I hope it clears by noon when we’re going out.
It is our U3A post-Christmas lunch and entertainment today. On the way we will drop off a box of books at the charity shop.
I have a hair cut at 5 pm. My fringe is in my eyes so about time!
We bought a new non memory mattress for me which will be delivered next Friday. It was a good trip to Reading, where we haven’t been for a while. Their John Lewis is much bigger than the Oxford one.
Anyway, I must think about getting up soon. Have a good day.

Grammaretto Thu 11-Jan-24 07:15:25

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It was very cold last night with little sleep. I kept my socks and leggings on. How I miss DH
Yoga this morning and an appointment with an osteopath this afternoon.
My DB is 70 today. I remember the day he was born!

Your poor DD Harrigran. Such a spoiler.
Well done to your DGD Ash

Hoping everyone has a good day.

RosesandLilac Thu 11-Jan-24 07:14:33

Good morning, -4° here in south Gloucestershire and my blue car has a sparkling white covering.
We enjoyed a lovely walk at Westonbirt yesterday, sunny but chilly, followed by a hot chocolate ☕️ The dog loves it there, plenty of room to run around and meet other dogs.
Sorted out my coloured pencils in the afternoon, the online tutorials are very detailed and very helpful- I haven’t used coloured pencils since junior school and never ‘properly’. The effects can be amazing.
Today an early Ocado delivery, the kitchen needs tidying and this afternoon off to Stitch club, lots of nattering and cups of tea.
Take care everyone 🌹

Good morning from Shropshire where a cold and dull day is forecast.

A day at home today.Changing the bedding and housework this morning then I am hoping for a relaxing afternoon reading.

Well done to your DGD Ash.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Pantglas2 Thu 11-Jan-24 07:08:24

Good morning all from a dry and cold north Wales where I’m just about to brew the lishus Yorkshire Gold ☕️.

Thank you all for those kind words after my little wobble earlier this week 🫨 - the reason why this thread (and Soop) is the loveliest on GN - a warm welcome to Optomistic as well.

All the talk of warmer climes from GrannyGravy and NannyJan is bringing out the green eyed devil in me - I need to practice my Spanish as well GrandMattie but more in situ, as it were🤪

The mentions of ‘a good bottoming’ yesterday has me looking around PGTowers with a smile - as my eyesight worsens, the place looks cleaner ! Wish I had those cleaning 🧚‍♀️ 🧚‍♀️that some of you have - Mr PG with his stick gadget vacuum doesn’t quite cut it (never mind his dislike of being called a fairy….🤦‍♀️)

Hope all unwell or awaiting appointments, good news etc have a better day x

brook2704 Thu 11-Jan-24 07:06:13

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s warmed up slightly and is about 2º
A big well done to your DGD Ash you must all be very proud of her
DGD is still sleeping soundly, she’ll be up soon though for her porridge before we drop her off at school. I’m then going to a training session at the volunteering centre, it’ll be good to see everyone again
Thanks for the picture Joseann I’ve not been to Amsterdam for ages but would like to go back soon
Hope your DD is better soon harrigran poor lady to always get ill after travelling, also hope you feel a bit better soon too
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

kittylester Thu 11-Jan-24 07:03:08

Good morning all from a very cold North Leicestershire.

I have to change the bed this morning and then to collect a friend before driving to the hospital to see our friend who still has delirium and has been moved to a haematology ward.

Sainsbury's delivery this afternoon.

Have the best day possible everyone.

fancythat Thu 11-Jan-24 06:53:34

Good Morning from a cold down South. I cant tell yet if it is freezing outside or not.
Mick - I had to go out later yesterday. People here seem to be going out later when it is less cold.
Ashcombe - well done to your DGD.

Staying in and housework today. May do some decluttering.

cornergran Thu 11-Jan-24 06:50:46

Morning Mick, morning All. It’s cold is all I can tell you about oar corner of Somerset. A fine day forecast.

We were ice blocks by the time we reached the garage to retrieve the car yesterday afternoon. The bus was warm, the wind outside wasn’t. We were happy though as the camera had arrived and we could drive away without the beeps and flashing lights.

A bits and pieces day ahead here punctuated by lunch in our little garden centre and some fresh food shopping in preparation for the weekend. My cousin and her husband will be here for the day on Saturday and family including our fussy teenagers for a meal on Sunday. I’m not used to feeding folk now. What could go wrong? Loads!

Pleased your heater is co-operating again grandmattie, not the weather to be without it.

Have the best day you can everyone, stay warm.

Ashcombe Thu 11-Jan-24 06:48:03

Good morning from a chilly Torbay.

I hope your joints improve and your DD soon recovers, harrigran. She must dread travelling if it regularly results in her being unwell.
That’s a big increase, karma, which must be worrying for people. We have to budget carefully but the councils seem to find that difficult.
Enjoy your meals out, Mizuna! Lovely photo, Joseann of a favourite city of mine.

Our first Wednesday Club of the year was well attended with positive comments on our most recent production, Cranford at Christmas. A few cast and crew joined us to hear the feedback so it was good to be reunited.

Last night we were delighted to hear that my DGD, aged 11, who is a keen dancer, passed the audition to dance in Sleeping Beauty with the English Youth Ballet in April. Back in 2022, she performed in Swan Lake with the same company.

Stay warm and well, everyone! 🦩🥰❄️💐🦩

Greyduster Thu 11-Jan-24 06:44:08

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Still dark in South Yorkshire and chilly. I slept badly last night. I am supposed to go out with the walking group this morning, but I can’t summon up the enthusiasm at the moment. See how I feel in a couple of hours. I have plenty to keep me busy at home if I don’t go.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Joseann Thu 11-Jan-24 06:35:33

Goedemorgen.
Seeing as it's weather talk on here, I'm going to shock you all with a minus 4 degrees here in Amsterdam this morning. No time to stay in the warm though.
Have a good day!

Mizuna Thu 11-Jan-24 06:14:44

Good morning from Cornwall where it's freezing and the stars are glittering. A perfect excuse to wrap up and sit out on my patio.

This morning, breakfast with my broken-footed son at Wetherspoons, as he's bussing into town for a photography job. Then lunch in another town with my daughter-in-law before I take a box of origami to the library to discuss the next craft session with the organisers.

karmalady Thu 11-Jan-24 06:10:44

Good morning, it will be wall to wall sun today in s somerset, a cheery day

I was busy until bedtime yesterday, cut out and prepped two more bags and made a nice pair of knickers from good fabric, they were a test pair and are excellent. Two or three more to be made today.

Our somerset council tax is likely to go up by 10% this year with all toilets closing etc, our council is broke. Depressing news and bad mis-management. There will be a lot of us being worried about stretching the pennies when we see the new bills

Have a good day

grandMattie Thu 11-Jan-24 06:03:38

Good morning from Bristol. It’s gorgeous, glittering and clear. The forecast is cold, no more than +3C, and overcast. It certainly was chilly yesterday with an icy wind.
My night storage heater is working again - it seems to need a rest every week or so. I have reported the fault to the manager.
The book group was mostly complimentary about “my” Mary Wesley choice. Most had read her books, but in 1980s, one was an infant when it was published, the others enjoyed it. I was nervous as I haven’t been in the group for long.
Today, the tai chi classes resume, and I dine at DD’s as usual.
I hope everyone is keeping warm and have a good day. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

harrigran Thu 11-Jan-24 05:55:53

Good morning Mick, not too cold here in the NE, weather app says 5 degrees.
Our local supermarket was heaving yesterday and we had to queue to pay even though we did self scan.
DD went home to Brussels on Monday and yesterday she was ill in bed with some horrible virus, every time she travels on Eurostar or a plane she catches a bug.
I am having a quiet day today as all my joints are sore.
Hope the snow doesn't hamper your travel Mick.

Michael12 Thu 11-Jan-24 05:45:28

Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and cloudy outside no doubt freezing , just look at the computer weather it mentions 4cm of snow today ??
Today usual trip to Bicester , mind you supermarkets seem quieter this last week in numbers shopping , a few people out and about but maybe weather warnings are changing peoples minds .
Take Care,
Mick
