Last night we were delighted to hear that my DGD, aged 11, who is a keen dancer, passed the audition to dance in Sleeping Beauty with the English Youth Ballet in April
Congratulations to her Ashcombe !
It must the a year for GC and Sleeping Beauty as my eldest GS(13) is dancing in Sleeping Beauty Dreams with Birmingham Royal Ballet in February!

Good morning from a bright Dunblane. Enjoyed a cuppa out with a friend yesterday, a post Christmas catch up. Went home and caught up with a few things. Dgd2 came in after school as usual on a Wednesday which was lovely after the holiday break. Today I have a prescription to pick up and some things to take to a shop that sells “collectables”. The process of trying to get rid of “stuff” continues although at a very slow pace. Then Dgd2 back for her second visit of the week. She was very excited yesterday as she had discovered a wobbly tooth and wanted a carrot to chew on in the hope of loosening it further. It didn’t work 🤣. Best wishes to all those struggling.

Such a bother last night trying to book tickets online for a symphony concert, my correct password refused, timed out etc. what a palaver. Will ring the box office instead. Seats going so quickly.

Good morning everyone from a clearing Northampton, 3°C here today, and the road looks icy.

Arranged a call back from my travel company to add to my holiday insurance details; said I would be out between 1 and 4pm and not to call then; when did they call? - 3pm! So I could not take the call. Shall have to try again.

Sainsbury's delivery this morning, then out after lunch to dance classes. Afterwards I have plans to go down to my rugby club's stadium shop to get a team sweater for my DS-in-law's 50th birthday at the end of the month. I've seen a couple of really nice ones when I've looked on line.

Good morning from a freezing cold Oxfordshire (literally in our village) a white frosty covering on all of the rooftops this morning, but it’s clouding up now.
Ash you must be so proud of your daughter, I used to read Sandra of the secret Ballet in the Judy comic back in the fifties and dream of being whisked off to a castle in the middle of the ocean and do ballet all day. Sigh….. fat chance!
I left my sewing machine out yesterday as I have several things from years ago that I started and then put away, I finished some Christmas bunting yesterday, I started it when our Granddaughter was 3, she’s now 20….
A quick trip to the chemist to collect 2 items that they didn’t have yesterday and that’s my day, leftovers for dinner so no cooking.

An empty today apart from collecting prescriptions and I am wondering how to fill it and stay warm. Some vigorous sorting looks necessary I fear! Hope this bitter wind doesn’t bring snow but perhaps need to provision in case.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a cloudy Carlisle. The sky was clear when I got up and I had hopes of a sunny day but I think there will be precipitation instead.
I'm going out again, hopefully to actually buy the sound bar this time. I found I had to re-consider my set up yesterday but the model I'd almost decided on will be fine I'm sure (if I can get it all working together harmoniously!). Then it will be back to some bathroom cleaning and then reading my book after lunch.

A lovely result for your DGD, Ash, I hope she enjoys herself.

Good morning from Glasgow. It’s clear and damp here but seeing lighter mornings gives me a lift at least.

Thank you for the photo of Amsterdam Joseann. A favourite stopover of ours for a couple of days whenever we drove back and forth between Glasgow and Provençe when we lived in France.
As DH is in another bedroom now Grammaretto I too miss warming my feet on him. DD2 bought me a pair of battery operated heated socks, a poor substitue but at least my feet are warm.
A quieter day today, and looking forward to the usual social event as I meet up with regulars at the hairdressers for a trim today. All going well, a quick trip to Waitrose before returning home.

I am a grumpy granny my ears haven’t equalised since landing, I assume it’s my cold. I have a rather uncomfortable eye test this afternoon (AMD) added to which I have to start on the ironing mountain (5 king size bed sets, 4 singles along with clothes)

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 3° and damp. The sky looks cloudless at the moment. Ash congratulations to your dgd. She's obviously a very good dancer. I don't envy you all with snow forecast. I don't think we are expecting any in central Scotland. Fingers crossed 🤞.
Yesterday I pottered about and got things tidied then visited mum. She was chatty but quite confused.
Today my doors are being sorted. The wrong new door is being replaced by the right new door. Another fingers crossed moment. They are replacing a panel in the kitchen door too. A broken redundant cat flap is in the original one. I don't have a cat and slugs use it to slither into my kitchen so I'm glad it's finally going.
I'm not sure what I'll do the rest of the day. Knitting, I think. Or painting. Or both. Have a good day all

Good morning Mick and all who follow. The sky is just beginning to lighten on the Angus coast, but not enough to see what the day's like. No frost however.
My central heating is having a wee bit of a glitch at the moment - I join your club grandmattie. I suddenly realised it had gone off, well before it should have done, but when I pressed the re-set button it came on again thank goodness. However the timer thingy isn't functioning so I had to get up to a freezing cold house and start it manually. Not the end of the world, and it's beginning to warm up now. Yesterday I had to go to pick up a new gizmo to augment my hearing aids. It should have been in before Christmas but didn't arrive, but really I coped throughout all the family parties in various corners of the UK better than I expected without it. I told the 'hearing manny' this and also told him that really I regretted buying it. To my astonished delight he said that I didn't need to take it and reimbursed my money there and then! I was very impressed to say the least.
Today is my second tai chi class of the week. It's a hard class to teach because really they have reached the stage of needing one-to-one instruction - or in some cases not wanting to be instructed at all because they know it all! So just a few straight sets today while I ponder. Whatever we do, it will be good relaxing exercise to wake us up to a new year. I hope you enjoy your class grandmattie - any advice for me?
Now, a quick second cup of coffee before I get moving.

I have no plans today, apart from some Safeguarding and parish admin.
Mr MD is going to the dentist to discuss the possibility of a crown. Ouch! Getting old is not cheap. We both go to the same practice, but his is costing three times what I paid for mine last year.
I'm going to stay at home, I usually go with him, but can't find the energy.

I ventured to the very busy supermarket yesterday, but felt unwell, so didn't linger, especially as I should keep away from crowded places.
However, I did get some funny looks, photographing half price Habitat bath towels and sending the pictures to DD. I went in for bread and milk and came out with bags of towels and lots of sale clothes for Babydoll. I can't resist treating my girls.
I had hoped to pop into Matalan and B&M, but abandoned that idea.

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Another grey day here. We had quite a few showers yesterday.
The cough continues to improve and I slept better so I will venture out to the garden centre today for a wander and a coffee. I’m much in need of an a change of scenery and to see another human being!

Arts Society this morning so the car will need scraping . I’ll be publicising and taking bookings for our next SID (special interest day) in April when I have booked Simon Seligman to talk about “Chatsworth - its treasures, gardens and châtelaines” especially Debo the late Duchess of Devonshire whom he knew well. People always enjoy a glimpse inside a stately pile like Chatsworth. Hope we get lots of takers!

Good morning from a frosty looking Suffolk which is now much drier than a few days ago. Yesterday was bright and sunny but bitterly cold,especially at the seaside where,on the return to the car and walking into the wind,we were almost blown over.

My stretch class is in just over an hour and then some essential food shopping before I hunker down for an afternoon of resuming our feeble attempts at declutterring. Our main motivation to do so is the gentle hints,or in one case not so gentle,from the AC that it isn’t a job they want to do in years to come!

Hope there is some sunshine in everyone’s day.
