Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but a dry and cold start here in brackley at a guess outside below zero temperature wise .
Today hopefully get the bus to Bicester ,again its seems quiet as people out, I think many try to head to warm buildings , I noticed thee local Wetherspoons gets more customers not only because of the building warmth but also coffee at drink as many as you want for the price of one .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning Mick and all from 3° C Sunnyside northwest coast. Usual tramp through the sand dunes yesterday for exercise, but a quiet day. Arranged a senior rail card as the rail fares are so expensive for my trips to see DD and Dsister in the south. Did it online. Should take ten minutes it said…mmm, I think not, what with photo, rejected passwords etc,

I’m singing and in charge on the desk today at the music club, so will have a warble. I have a comedy song and two classical lined up.
Thoughts to Susan and all with worries 🌺
My route through the dunes at the bottom of the road.

Good morning from a freezing ( literally) Oxfordshire, very still out and it’s clouding over, no snow is forecast so far.
My head cold is progressing nicely, I now have a cough and an earache as well, so today ‘I’ll be mostly’ sitting down and reading with MrOops keeping me supplied with food and drink. I cooked for 2 days yesterday so just a quick zap and dinner will be done.

Take care everyone, I hope all the poorlies soon get some relief. Stay warm.

Good morning Mick and all from snowy Lancashire, currently 1°C.

It has been snowing overnight and looks set to continue. MrB went to the supermarket early as it may not be possible to get the car out later. Although my inner child feels excited when it snows in reality it makes life rather tricky. I’m glad I went out for a walk yesterday while we still had the sunshine.

Be careful if you’re traveling anywhere today, stay safe and warm. ☃️

Good morning from a very cold NE but no evidence of frost.
SIL coming to take me shopping so I can stock the store cupboard. He is off home to Brussels tomorrow and then Florida next week.
Yesterday I watched the TV series about Mr Bates vs the post office, I remember reading about it some years ago but had no idea that so any people were affected. I am pleased that Paula Vennells had the decency to return her CBE.
Have a good day, stay safe and warm iif you have snow.

monk08 Tue 16-Jan-24 09:14:02

Good morning all from the Black country where we have sunshine long may it last.
More decluttering on the agenda I have a bag of clothes to take round to charity shop, haven't started on shoes and bags yet.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans, safe travels those on the move, virtual hugs where needed and may you all find some ☀️.

Marydoll Tue 16-Jan-24 09:12:58

Just started here too, Kalu.

NannyJan53 Tue 16-Jan-24 09:11:02

Good morning from a bitterly cold Black Country. Yesterday turned out to be cold but with bright blue skies.

My friend and I went to the Line Dancing yesterday afternoon, it was fun. We were surprised how busy it was, there must have been at least 80-100 people. Apparently last week there were 120!

Spent the morning tidying out cupboards, always satisfying when done. I found a letter Mum received in 1965, offering her a job with the Council as Receptionist/Telephonist at the princely sum of £700 per annum, rising to a maximum of £725 per annum!! 6% to be deducted for pension contribution. It was probably quite a decent salary at the time!

Dentist this morning, and I know I need a filling.

Then over to Mums to sort her tablets in the Dosset box.

Stay warm and safe everyone

Good morning from Glasgow. Snow has just arrived. It wasn’t supposed to arrive until tomorrow! Oh well, it’s not too thick but that may change.

Pleased to have done all my shopping yesterday and no need to go out, it will be a coorie doon day doing as I please. I may make a start on some spring cleaning, the mind is certainly willing but my body lets me know it’s time for a coffee break as pacing myself is necessary and it takes me twice as long to do many tasks now. So frustrating.

Have the best day possible all, stay safe to all who are venturing out in snowy/frosty conditions.

Gingster Tue 16-Jan-24 09:01:49

Good morning from a brrrr Suffolk seaside. It’s bright and sunny and no snow expected here.

Nothing pressing here today but Dh will phone the plumber as the shower is leaking. I’ll clear out some cupboards take some books to the charity shop.

Usual walk along the beach with little pooch - she loves the sea as much as I do but just paddling at the moment.

Take care all ❄️

Alygran Tue 16-Jan-24 08:43:27

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s cold, but no snow.
Just heard from DD2 in the Peak District. She set off for work but had to return home. Ditto her sister who set off for a meeting near London but has had to cancel. I’m very relieved. When I saw Urm’s picture I thought the snow would be an issue higher up!
Ironing today then popping to have coffee in town with a friend.
Stay safe and warm everyone.

grandMattie Tue 16-Jan-24 08:38:17

I absolutely loveputting flat packs together but am no longer strong enough to do the screws up properly. 😢. Hence the help.
DH always used to take charge, not follow the instructions and mess things up completely! Eventually (after about 30 years ‘not hearing me’), he agreed that I took charge and had him as the muscle

Susan56 Tue 16-Jan-24 08:36:23

Marydoll his siblings all have keys to his parents house so he didn’t want to risk them arriving and finding him in his birthday suit🙈🤣

Urmstongran Tue 16-Jan-24 08:33:11

I was so excited I forgot Matt!

Marydoll Tue 16-Jan-24 08:27:01

Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow, where it's -2°C with cloudy skies.

We were supposed to meet Babydoll and her parents for lunch, but we have postponed it, due to the yellow snow warning.
We may be able to get out, but we will probably not get back on the country roads!
I'm obviously disappointed, but DH says a morning in bed is needed, as I feel a bit ropey.
I was quite unwell yesterday and slept all afternoon.

Bella, we have been watching a documentary about Malta and Gozo, it has made me quite nostalgic and reminiscing about many happy holidays.

Karma, that was a marathon indeed.
We organise all our finances on Microsoft Excel, it takes minutes to organise. There is nothing like a good old spreadsheet! Of course, you can make charts too.
Also, I use a spreadsheet to monitor attendance at parish classes. I am a geek, I love technology!

Susan, I laughed at your Tesco dash. My DH wouldn't bother. He, his five brothers and his father only had one pair of pyjamas between them (aka the hospital pyjamas).
I used to dread needing the loo during the night, when staying overnight, in case I encountered one of them. blush

Safe journey to all travelling, enjoy the meetings with friends and love to all, who are struggling.

Urmstongran Tue 16-Jan-24 08:26:54

We have thick snow! It looks like a winter wonderland - so pretty. I love the muffled sound snow brings early in a morning. I just took this photo at my front door whilst Himself was making our mugs of tea.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. Fortunately we have no plans and no appointments so will stay in, snug as bugs and just enjoy looking at the snow! Bet all the school kids round here are delighted - snowball fights for our Boy Wonder with his mates on their way into school for sure. We get it so infrequently here - I think the Pennines save us most of the years.
😁
Ooh more flakes coming down …

Liberty Tue 16-Jan-24 08:26:20

Good morning from a cold, somewhat frosty Suffolk where we are promised sunshine all day.

Our power just went off but not the lights which is very odd and my earlier post was lost. A quick flick of the switches on the box in the kitchen and power is restored but I wonder for how long!

My meeting with a friend this morning is now going to be in a cafe rather than at the seaside because of the bitingly cold wind we experienced yesterday on our dog walk.

Hope everyone can stay warm today.

GrannySomerset Tue 16-Jan-24 08:14:20

Another hard frost and clear sky so cold again, and forecast to be so until the weekend. Off on a U3A jaunt so must get a move on or I won’t be ready before my wonderful cleaner arrives. Everything seems to take longer these days, but that is only to be expected.

EkwaNimitee Tue 16-Jan-24 08:11:53

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where it is -2°C and we have evidently had a sprinkle of snow.
So now I have a problem...I have an appointment at the surgery just after lunch, offered yesterday as I have ongoing problems with a virus (?) I may have picked up on the train home. I don't want to cancel and I'm not at all keen on driving so it may have to be a taxi though I don't want to be stranded in town if the weather worsens and taxis stop running.
Yes, I am definitely a catastrophiser! I shall just have to wait and see what the weather does.
Meanwhile I shall just try and keep myself occupied with a bit of gentle housework interspersed with a bit of reading. I shall also keep the heating on and hang the expense!
It was such a lovely, albeit cold, day yesterday. I could sit by the window reading and see a sunny road and a cloudless blue sky. Not entirely idle though, the laundry got done and another cupboard gone through in the kitchen and wiped out.
And on Sunday that pesky freezer finally got defrosted. It was in a dire state and took all morning to thaw. It was a job greatly helped by having another small one in the garage (which defrosts itself).

Have the best possible day everyone.

baubles Tue 16-Jan-24 08:11:37

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where it’s-1* with a little snow.

Our local Facebook page is already full of complaints about some roads not having been gritted.

I’m going to visit my old charity shop today, I miss working there but I know my decision to leave was the sensible thing to do. I’ll go for coffee with one of the volunteers, we worked well together and she always put her name on the rota for the days I was in.

Wishing everyone a good day.

Jaxjacky Tue 16-Jan-24 08:10:02

Morning, heavy frost in S Hants, -5, I won’t be venturing out until later.
We were rubbish at quiz last night! Lots of teams, so it was warm in the pub.
My daughter loves assembling a flat pack gMattie, her car passed its MOT yesterday, she’d borrowed mine all day to get shopping done.
Phone calls today and I’ll grit my teeth for a walk.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Minus 3 but no snow yet.
I may bus into Edinburgh for some last minute essentials for NZ. shorts? sandals maybe there'll be something in the sales. A timely reminder Susan to pack a nightie. It will be an emotional time for you but so important.

I forced myself to go on the U3A walk yesterday with the aid of antiinflammatories, and enjoyed it. Blue sky and not too long.

IKEA furniture, gM & Mizuna a match made in heaven 😂

First and last for a while Gaelic class tonight. I plan to book another holiday course this Summer. I enjoyed last year in Skye such a lot.

Keep cosy everyone.

Taichinan Tue 16-Jan-24 08:02:53

Good morning all. It's reportedly -3° out there on the Angus coast, but feeling like -9°. Yesterday's "feels like -8°" was quite cold enough thank you! It's still pitch dark out, but I'm sure there's no more snow - although it's forecast today.
Yesterday's tai chi committee meeting achieved very little, but it was nice to see everyone again. One instructor reported 26 new beginners at her new beginners' class which was a very encouraging sign that we are returning to pre-Covid norms.
Today is one of my own tai chi classes, but I wonder how many will feel brave enough to face the icy blast! After that I have an optician's appointment, which I'm trying not to think about - I'm aware my sight has deteriorated since last year. Following that is my fruit and veg shop (via the fish shop of course 😉) at the aptly-named Nature's Garden. Oh, and a quick dash across to the Butcher's who sells the locally made shortbread that I love. Then I think that's quite enough for one day and I shall go home and keep cosy in front of the TV with my eyes no doubt closed.
Susan that's a daunting task. This is the year that I have promised myself will be the one that sees me cleared out as much as possible and 'ready to go' ......
Now off I pop to get today underway. I think I shall go out to the car armed with a jug of warm water to help me break into it!
Have the best day you can everyone, and keep cosy x

Georgesgran Tue 16-Jan-24 07:57:07

Good morning from a very cold Durham, with a forecast for snow later.
Coffee with a friend this morning, then more decluttering/cleaning at home. I managed to get the contents of two messy filing cabinets into one organised cabinet yesterday - it was very satisfying (I think I need to get out more!).
I’m getting Little Dog from DD2 later for a sleepover - he has a grooming appointment this morning, so I may have to buy him a coat.
Thinking of our GNs who are struggling for whatever reason.
Best wishes to all. X

Greyduster Tue 16-Jan-24 07:49:45

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a very cold South Yorkshire the temperature is minus one but there is no frost to speak of. Snow is forecast for later. The CH is struggling today. I am supposed to go to school later for my volunteering stint, and I if it snows I could walk there, but not sure I want to! I’ll see what transpires and make a judgement call.
Down to my icy kitchen (no radiator in there!) to make my coffee.
Take care one and all.

Pittcity Tue 16-Jan-24 07:40:51

Good morning from a below freezing Colchester. I can't see much frost which is surprising.
Not warming up at all today but staying dry with some sun.
Tuesday is charity shop volunteering day so I'll stay warm. We have a uniform fleece that stays firmly zipped up all day.
Love to all 🦩 x
